It's a trendy spot with a clean modern feel and when you walk in you can sit anywhere super relaxed super welcoming. The staff was very nice from the jump and our waitress was attentive the whole time without ever feeling overbearing. The place is spotless. Bathrooms clean dining area clean everything looking fresh. You can tell they take pride in keeping the space tight. Food came out in about 10 minutes hot and flavorful. I went with two other people and all three of us were impressed. Every dish was tasty very well seasoned, and very well put together. It's the kind of meal where you pause mid bite because the flavor hits right. Hot, fresh, and satisfying after a run. We enjoyed the food we enjoyed the vibe and we enjoyed how attentive the service was. Just a smooth, enjoyable experience from start to finish. Definitely a spot worth returning to.

I'd first like to start out by saying that I deleted an old review that I made for this restaurant…read moreyears ago. I deleted it because this business doesn't deserve to have the previous review that I gave. I'll admit, that years ago a mistake was made with my order and I left a scathing, harsh, and mean review. I was having a bad day and I took it out on the restaurant. Even though something was wrong with my order, they did not deserve a review like that! Ever since that time, I haven't stopped supporting this business though. Over the summer, I had an encounter with either the manager or owner and I think his name is Steven. I owe him and his employees an apology for that horrible 2-star review that I left! He said he remembered me by my orders from years ago. And to be perfectly honest, I was clueless as to how he remembered me, but then it all made sense. He probably remembers me because of my extremely harsh review that I had left from years prior, and I am only just now realizing that. Since I publicly bashed your business years ago, I want to publicly apologize, I'm sorry for that harsh review! Blackstone Bar & Grill is an amazing bar/restaurant in our neighborhood that serves high-quality food! Definitely better than your average bar grub! They're very accommodating to me when I come with my toddler son and my dog, and make us feel very welcome. I'm a frequent flyer, especially for their wings with the bomb blue cheese! They have the best in the neighborhood! All the staff members are super friendly and helpful. Blackstone is one of the best spots in our neighborhood and I'm happy to support them!

Beers seemed to be $7-8. A colleague got Don Julio on the rocks and I think that was $11. Music was decent. Started off very chill with some oldies then turned more into hip hop as the night progressed.

The food is just as incredible as we remembered. The ribs are unbeatable--fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The corn on the cob is so delicious, and even the fries, though simple, hit the spot. Every bite reminds us why this place is one of our favorites. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Yes, the prices have gone up, but the quality and portions make it worth every penny. Most who frequent the Woodlawn 4 train stop have seen it but not many go in. Most just use it's front handrail as a leaning post while enduring that often daunting wait for the 4 or 20 Bee Line Bus. There isn't even so much as a website, photo or Yelp review to be found anywhere online. But after 8 years of only looking with curiosity from the outside (with the occasional peek inside as someone walked out), I finally had had enough of the mystery. I put on my big girl pants and went inside. And almost immediately turned around and left. Okay, it's not THAT bad inside. If I had to compare it to something, I'd place it somewhere between a standard Irish pub and a biker bar. Just like your standard, small-town bar. I don't know, I've just always looked at it the way a kid looks at that creepy, deserted-looking house in their neighborhood that has a legacy of ghost stories & rumors of an old, ill-tempered witch. You kinda want to check it out but you don't want to end up with your face on a milk carton either. That's the vibe I get from Woodlawn Cafe. And going in didn't really help change that.
