Bai Bac Beach (Mocktail), we spike it with vodka
    Ron M.

I'll be honest, I'm not familiar with Vietnamese food, so any comparison is unfair. This is just my experience. My wife and I came in on a frigid Sunday night and sat at the bar. We tried their version of a coffee martini and asked make the Bai Bac Beach mocktail as a cocktail with vodka. Both drinks were not bad. The bartender/waiter is very nice and friendly. We ordered Fried pork spring rolls, sweet potato fritters with shrimp, thin vermicelli with grilled beef rolls and red rice grill beef short ribs with red rice. The good: both beef dishes were delicious. We didn't really like the red rice, it was similar to brown rice buy with less flavor. The OK (not bad): the pork spring rolls were a little greasy and I didn't really like the flavor. The sweet potato fritters were OK, but it tasted like regular potatos, not sweet potatos. So, will I return, probably not. I'll need to try other vietnamese food locations to properly compare.

Overall it's an ok place. I was missing more flavor like I've had in other Vietnamese restaurants. The spring rolls tastes blend and a bit soggy. The meat was grilled well but the pho broth (we had chicken broth) was blend and required quite a bit of spice to add. Service was good and attentive, food came out fast too.

3.5 stars, but I'm feeling genny today. In all fairness, the House Combination Beef Pho was just what I needed while I was suffering from my....third ()....cold of the season. It came loaded with soft cuts of brisket, tripe, tendon, and beef balls, but I was mostly focused on the flavorful broth, which was what my poor, brutalized throat really needed. The Rice Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Lemongrass Beef Rolls was a solid pick if you're feeling more dry carbs than wet carbs, though I found it to be a bit bland and lackluster. But like I said, I was mostly here for broth. Space is giant, and you could arrive with the most Catholic of Viet in-laws and still have enough space to fit everyone.

The service was lovely. The staff was attentive and kind. We used to come here often with the previous owners so with the change of hands, the whole experience is entirely different. Everything looked the same, the decor including the bar area was familiar. The menu, however, was pared down but they had the usual suspects so that's what we went with. The cha giò was excellent! Super crunchy and FULL of meat! I could eat a million of those! The whole fried flounder, though, did not hit the spot. It was fried well but it wasn't as fresh as I like and had a fishy flavor. The accompanying sauce wasn't what we expected. Typically when we order pan-fried flounder, we expect their ginger sauce to also contain scallions and cilantro. This was ginger sauce was just ginger and fish sauce and it was on the sweet side. It was ok but not what we hoped for.

I haven't been here since the previous Vietnamese restaurant, and although I still miss the old place, this restaurant is solid. Off the bat, you can tell the interior is cleaner and updated, and there's even a Happy Hour menu offered (including weekends!). Food is average but satisfying, and a bit pricey but expected for the area. The menu is not as large as other Vietnamese restaurants, but it has the most popular items you could ask for (pho, bun bowls, rice dishes etc.). I ordered the Bun Bo Hue and thought the flavor was mild and could've been richer. The banh mi was nicely filled, and we enjoyed the banh xeo. Overall a decent Viet spot.

Very upscale place for a pho spot. However, I didn't see any Vietnamese people here nor Asian customers beside our party. Service was very good and attentive. The fried calamari was really good. Super crispy and fresh. We had the summer rolls and spring rolls as well. The spring roll was pretty good and full of meat. The summer roll was not nearly as good however and I usually like the summer rolls over the spring rolls. We also had the fried marketplace fish which was flounder that day. You can choose between two sauces. The waitress recommended the ginger sauce, but that sauce was very light and was lacking something. Otherwise the fish was delicious. We tried the Bon Bo Hue soup. It was okay it did not seem as flavorful as other places I am used to in Maryland. The deserts here seemed pretty good especially the pan dan pana catta. Overall the food was pretty good; however, usually I would come for the soup and summer rolls which was just okay.

Great service and yummy food. My favorite summer rolls are served here, ask for the peanut sauce with it, trust me. Larger restaurant for the area, with a nice bar so definitely can accommodate larger parties if need.

B1. VERM BOWL SPRING ROLLS & GRILL PORK

I don't usually post within the hour I get my food but I have to say the Corner Pho was a pleasant surprise from the usual take out places in Jersey City (and maybe even NYC) I ordered the meat and spring rolls and the presentation of the take out order was flawless. The attention to detail of how the food is served in a takeout container was nicer than I've seen from other places. The food was absolutely delicious as well. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. Each bite of the meat and spring rolls were great. I will absolutely be ordering take out from here again.

This is a great pho spot on the border of Jersey City and Hoboken. It is very large inside so reservations/seating is not a concern. Service was attentive and quick - appetizers came out less than 5 minutes after ordering - but also did not feel rushed so we could enjoy the meal. The pho was a little oily and could have had a a bit more flavor to the broth, but the meat and noodles were tender. The prices are a good value for the large serving sizes. Summer rolls (shrimp) - $9 Chicken pho - $16 Soda - $3

Came on a Sunday afternoon and place was half full. We got seated immediately and the wait staff were all super friendly. Our waters were also always full. - Bun Bo hue hit the spot with a flavorful soup and a hefty portion of meat along with the pig trotter. - Pho dac biet had tasty meaty bone broth and hefty amount of meat/tendons! - shaking beef lunch was lemongrassy and was the perfect "app" to our bowls of noodles Overall super glad to have found a good pho place in JC!

Im from the west coast and I can definitely say that this place has one of best AUTHENTIC viet food in the NJ/NYC area. We had the vietnamese ice coffee, grilled pork combo (com tam suong heo), the corner pho special rice noodle soup (hu tieu), egg rolls (cha gio), and house combo beef pho and all of it was phenomenal! The restaurant was very spacious, clean, and the ambience of this restaurant is a total vibe. Vietnamese ice coffee (5/5): the vietnamese ice coffee isnt too sweet, but also comes with one huge ice cube so it doesnt water down the coffee, while still keeping the coffee nice and cold Grilled pork combo (4.5/5): the pork was grilled perfectly and you could taste the char on it from being on the grill. It comes with 2 perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs and this salty/ savory vietnamese meat. The corner pho special rice noodle soup (5/5): this was my favorite dish and very similar to how my mom makes it at home! It comes woth crispy pork bits that is still crunchy after absorbing all the soup and comes with so many different types of seafood/ meats Egg rolls (4/5): we forgot to take a picture bc we devoured them so fast but it comes with plenty of meat and a thin/ crispy outside Pho (5/5): the most AUTHENTIC pho ive tried in the NJ/NYC area. The broth is clear and so flavorful packed with so much spice and depth. Definitely my go-to viet spot from now on!

Great pho and also appetizers!!! The place is big so you dont feel crowded at all; ehich was good since our 2yo ended up taking a nap and we could have the stroller next to us comfortably!Decoration simple but clean (a bit more cozier would be nice, but overall super comfy) Service is attentive, pretty fast and they don't rush you to pay and leave, which I appreciate. About food, really 5/5 both rolls were tasty! Summer shrimp roll perfect and the Spring roll was the best, so crunchy with delicious fill. Pho was very generous and the broth was perfect, not too salty. Will def come back

Good food, nice service, and a cool interior. There was even live music! The summer roll with shrimp was very tasty and the rice vermicelli bowl with pork and spring roll was really good. I enjoyed this place and I'll be back.

I will update this review if I'm able to reach them during biz hours for a resolution but this is easily the most disappointing meal I've had all year. Save your hard earned money and go to Ela's greek or literally anywhere else on this block, even Dominos. EDIT: Went in next day and spoke to a manager, only mentioned portion size and showed the picture, didn't get a chance to say anything about everything being overcooked. He had clearly heard these complaints about portion size before, because he immediately launched into saying the cut of beef + tendon they use for the rendang yields that as their standard portion size. He refunded the calamari. I still won't be going back and would never recommend this place, but wanted to acknowledge the resolution. Also my husband unfortunately wasn't there to speak to them, but he's been in restaurants for 25 years and knows they served chuck, not a fancy cut...

A Decade of Love on a Plate: A Local Favorite That Punches Above Its Weight…read more This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem--the kind you almost want to keep secret, yet can't stop yourself from praising. Cheap and cheerful on the surface, it punches way above its weight class, delivering inventive, clean, Asian-inspired food that's masterfully cooked by clearly skilled hands--and made with real love. I've been coming back year after year for most of this restaurant's 10-year lifespan, and that consistency is no accident. Every dish tastes intentional, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying, with a clear goal: to feed people love on a plate. It's a super veggie/vegan friendly that easily wins over even my "meat and potatoes" husband--who happily cleans his plate every time. In an era where genuine hospitality feels increasingly rare, Perry single-handedly restored my faith that quality service is not extinct. Warm, attentive, and authentically kind, Perry makes every guest feel seen, welcome, and cared for--without pretense or attitude. This is food that nourishes, service that uplifts, and a place that keeps you coming back not just for the flavors, but for how it makes you feel. A true neighborhood treasure.

The ambiance is not that great even though there's a big space and there was a lot of junk sitting around the place like extra stock of drinks and boxes all over the place. I don't think people really eat-in here. When I did takeout, it was still not worth the price of other similar restaurants in the area. Also this place doesn't have combinations sold together -- you have to buy rice on the side for EVERY dish which is not a traditional way to serve each dish in general. The prices here are not worth trying it - way overpriced and overcharged! Should be more affordable since we do not get the rice with the combination plates.
