Diane and I ate here on our return from Scottsdale, and this family-run diner did not disappoint. I began with a bowl of Potato Soup which was clearly homemade. It contained large al dente chunks of potato, an ample amount of cheese, bacon strips, a little celery, and carrots. A large, juicy, and genuine decked out Chicago Dog referred to simply as The Dog then rounded out my lunch. Accompanying O'Rings were light but mostly batter. And, Diane said her Fish & Chips were okay. Soft drinks are sold in bottles here to be poured into an ice-filled mason jar. We received a generous 50% Mother's Day discount, and service was friendly and attentive. When we travel this way again, we will definitely be back. read more

This place has an old-school diner field to it with a new school by. I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was delicious. Very good. With the fries home fries were really good as well. The ambience was really good. I'm not too loud. Just chowder other people in the restaurant. Service was good. She kept coming back making sure we were good and didn't need anything else. We waited for an hour to get served. We went up and asked if someone could take our order. She took it but "forgot " to bring our drinks. Our sodas and water were finally served with our meal after we asked for them, again! They said they were "busy" but there were only two tables with people by the time we were waited on. We're up in the area stopped in this place for breakfast. First time ever here. Ordered the chicken fried steak eggs with hashbrowns or house potatoes. Food came out in a nice and timely manner weight staff was nice and friendly. Make sure you had everything make sure you're doing good. The ambience in the place was decent low music. Great spot for breakfast , wife had the Croque and cheese egg sandwich , great with some bechemel sauce . I had the volcano omelet , chorizo , Real jalapeños , pepper jack cheese , the diced potatoes were also amazing as was the sourdough toast , probably homemade . The whole experience was great as the service . I could tell without a doubt that everyone eating there while we were there , were extremely happy as we were . My daughter and I have gone to this restaurant several times. The experience is a hit and miss. This time we went in and ordered an appetizer, entree, and a side. After 45 minutes and waiting for our food to come out, I noticed other people who were served after us getting their food. I asked the young waiter who said the food is being cooked now and will be out soon. Another 15 minutes went by and still no food and no updates. I again ask the waiter who said the food was being cooked. So my daughter and I again waited. After another 10 minutes of watching other people who came in after us receive food, my daughter and I decided to leave. The young waiter gave 3 different excuses as to why our food was not served. It's actually pretty funny but they served me coffee in this pee size water cup and costed me 5 dollars. Holy hell! I wasn't ready for more Corned Beef the day after St Patrick's day, but when I saw that they had a Corned beef smash burger, I had to try it. I'm so glad I did. The burger was perfection with a great bun and several slices of corned beef on top of two smash burger patties. This would be a problem if it were a daily menu item. Top this burger off with some fries cooked to a perfect crisp with a great seasoning. Avoid the chain restaurants and go there for a great lunch. read more

Staying in town several days and trying a few places. I was told that Copper State opened three weeks ago and the chef was doing a nice job. I gave the poke bowl a shot and it turned out to be really good. The Simple Soda Company strawberry lemonade was off the charts good. Made in Tempe! The staff couldn't have been nicer! It's my third visit to Copper State and I really want to like this restaurant. The wait staff is so nice and it is charming inside but the food is not good. I got french fries that were still cold inside and a patty melt that had the smallest piece of meat I have ever seen, mostly all bread for $15 . c'mon guys! read more

Our new favorite place. They have a better breakfast menu and I think higher quality than the tourist places "downtown" w lots of menu options. Haven't tried lunch yet but menu also has many options that look good. Atmosphere is light, open & very clean. I usually get their oatmeal-a generous portion-and if you ask you can get berries w it too. Husband likes the French toast and their biscuits & gravy. Next time I plan to try their chilaquiles. New manager has completely redone the menu for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is now served till noon 7 days a week. Servers are great and cooks get the food out in a timely manner. It's a cute little spot to go and enjoy a cup of coffee read more
