Great spot to go have a drink with friends. I'd heard about this place but never been. Easy to miss…read moresince it's a bit tucked away. You can only catch the thunderbird sign on the front window. This place is such a nostalgic place/ the retro walls, the wooden panels, the decorum and games, the lighting, everything. Bob Ross was playing on the television at the front, and the arcade games are classic. There are trophy's on the shelves and some cool "mature" trinkets sprinkled around. The guy behind the bar was swell. He was just chipper and jovial and it was great. I had a house marg (was on special for $7) and my friends had some Mantucky Cold Snacks. He said the crowd is usually such good vibes and that the place is well known for the patio in the back (I didn't get to peek outside before we left!) but I did see some warmers from the inside... seems like a nice wide open space to host groups. Made me happy to bee there with good friends. Will definitely be coming back.

Turns out the tonic was out. Asked what we wanted instead. No offer to replace the tonic or receive a refund. I really like my GnTs so I was pretty bummed. We decided on cosmos. My mistake. The bartender had no clue how to make one. Said she'd look it up. We got 2 vodka crans with a bit of lemon over ice. The manager decided 8pm on a Saturday was a good time to redecorate. He was at the front banging on wall studs, throwing stuff to the ground and making it real loud. We had one drink and left. Probably won't be back. Which is sad because it's my neighborhood bar, but this is not the first time we've had issues. I just think it's the last.

While we were there, we saw bull riding, checked out the different stores, and listened to an amazing live band. Those were easily the best parts of the experience and are what will keep us coming back. The service, unfortunately, was a different story. When we arrived to be seated, it took a while because communication between the staff seemed to be lacking. A table had been reserved for us, but not everyone working seemed to know about it. Once we were finally seated, it took about 30 minutes just to place our food order. After ordering, we waited close to an hour and did not receive our food until we finally asked about it. About 30 minutes into waiting for the food, I ordered an Old Fashioned. That also took around 30 minutes and didn't arrive until our food did. Do yourself a favor and skip the Old Fashioned. It's not worth it. For dinner, we ordered the platter with rib tips, beef ribs, and brisket. The rib tips and beef ribs were honestly amazing and something I would absolutely order again. The brisket, however, was extremely dry and we couldn't finish it. Overall, we will definitely be back because the atmosphere, entertainment, and activities were great. I'm just not sure I'll order anything more complicated than a bourbon on the rocks next time. As far as eating goes, I'd probably only do it again if I knew I had plenty of time to wait and didn't have my kids with me.

The ambiance is obviously very Detroit themed, feels like you're at a family's little restaurant. There was only one other table taken when we got there, and sports were playing on the televisions. We ordered a medium Barry pizza with jalapenos, a coney dog and garlic parm fries. I've never had a coney dog before, but after having this one, I definitely would! I never thought myself a fan of chili, but if you put it on a hot dog it becomes 20 times better. I hate to say it, but I truly do believe that the fries were the star of the show. Prefectly crisp, not overly salted, garlicky and cheesy, you really couldn't ask for more in a french fry. The pizza was, surprisingly, just a tad bland. I probably would have added some pepperoni and some of that garlic parm seasoning that was on the fries to it. However, it was cooked perfectly, crispy edges, fresh dough and a hearty amount! With the food, a fountain drink and a Faygo, the total came to around $45. I would absolutely come back to try other foods and pizza flavor combinations!

The inside of the restaurant is very clean, including the bathroom, and there are lots of TVs for entertainment as well as some cool arcade games in the back.

My wife and I were…read moreregulars there since they opened in 2021, and there was a note on their door a few weeks ago when they closed directing us to one of the two nearby locations. Today, we went to one of them for our first time, which was the location at Scottsdale Road and Thunderbird Road. We enjoyed getting our regular smoothies but it wasn't the same though the space was larger with more seating. Today, we ordered our favorite 24 oz smoothie (Sunrise Sunset, made with strawberries, pineapple, mango, and orange juice), which we had them split into two 12 oz cups so that we could share it. While it was tasty as usual, the staff were not as warm and friendly as the staff we got to know at the Tatum and Cactus location (though they were certainly polite and helpful). At other locations, we often share a smoothie and a flatbread, which comes with a side. Today, we received a coupon on the receipt for a $1.99 flatbread with the purchase of a smoothie in the future. Their regular menu includes bowls, smoothies, flatbreads, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Also, the app offers bonus points and discounts on occasion including a free smoothie on your actual birthday. You actually get a free smoothie just for signing up for the program (after your first purchase). Other benefits for the reward program include earning 10 points per $1 spent, learning about offers, and earning rewards. You can also order ahead on the app to skip the line while you're on your way. To join the reward program, go to https://www.tropicalsmoothiecafe.com/rewards and click on JOIN NOW. Feel free to use my referral code (Cohaps5136). I have also learned that if you have T-Mobile, their T-Mobile Tuesday program often offers a free Tropical Smoothie Cafe 24 oz smoothie. We look forward to coming back again soon as we now know where there is a nearby location now that our location Tropical Smoothie Cafe has closed.

The service was fast, but the food was not good at all. Rarely do I go somewhere to eat and feel this disappointed. Upon arriving in the drive-thru, the menu board looked horrible for a restaurant that has only been there a couple of years. There were remnants of stickers all over it where they'd crossed out menu items, but then apparently decided they were selling them again and didn't bother to get some goo gone to take off all the sticker parts, and one of the panels had nothing in it at all. The whole thing looked like it's been beat up. I don't usually notice these things that much, but I think it stood out to me because it's so new. I had checked out the menu before going and wanted the cod sandwich. We got there and they had a "discontinued" sticker across it on the menu board. So, we had to quickly figure out what else to order. We ended up with the fried shrimp meal, a lobster roll, and a chicken quesadilla. The only thing good about any of it was the fried shrimp. While it tasted a little salty, the flavor was good. Fries were meh. Lobster roll, I spit out my bite. Quesadilla was the most underwhelming excuse of a quesadilla I've ever seen. Smallish tortilla and cheese that didn't go to the ends with just a couple of big chunks of chicken. No good flavors here at all. We are both super disappointed and frankly I'm a little upset that I wasted a meal while also trying to talk myself out of feeling gross the rest of the day. While maybe someone could argue we ordered the wrong foods, this experience was so bad, I'll never give it a second chance.

It did not disappoint - this is actually a second-story restaurant so you can see the runway and planes! I'll note it is at the far end of the runway, so it would be MOST ideal to sit outside at the end of the patio for plane watching. Two, the service was impeccable on a Saturday for brunch. Is everyone who works here in a good mood? The energy is bright, light and airy, the service is attentive but low pressure. Three, they LOVE PETS. I'm not a pet owner but while I was there two people brought their pets along and one was a golden retriever puppy. This wouldn't matter but puppies can obviously cause a nuisance indoors - this staff did not mind. They were not in a slow service part of the day but they treated the pets like patrons and it actually created a really relaxed, collaborative atmosphere. I will note this though because if you're not an animal lover/ are afraid of dogs, their acceptance is a little more than the typical "pets outside" policy. Four, the food. It was beyond exceptional, and it's funny because the typical airport diner isn't elevated. But this is Scottsdale, and we had really delicious, beautiful food - actually fine dining presentation but in these cute mismatched kitschy dishes which brought it back down home. Lastly for anyone who loves birding, you wouldn't think an airport is a great spot but there is actually wildly diverse population of birds in the Volanti entrance. Trust me. I would not only love to go back but I think bringing a visitor here would be the best time.
