Crawling out of my Yelp retirement to come give this crew 5 stars all around. My husband and I found ourselves at Common House last night by chance after a day spent antiquing nearby. While we were made hopeful the food would be delicious based on their tasteful website, we were left speechless following the comprehensive experience that Adam has crafted here. This is the definition of a diamond in the rough, hole in the wall, hidden gem, etc. Even now, I feel I am divulging a magical secret. I'm sure many have traversed this unassuming street in Anderson, not realizing that this quaint corner of the universe is reaching for world-class. The space itself transports you to another dimension. Illuminated by candlelight the interiors are timeless and memorable with dark rich woods, exposed brick, and stained glass. This Shire-meets-Monastery was a welcome reprieve from the harsh and challenging reality we all face day-to-day. Reportedly, the aesthetic changes frequently, and I am excited to revisit to see the other ways the staff outfit this place in the future. I think if you come in for dinner expecting anything other than a James Beard or Michelin level chefs tasting menu, you may be disappointed. This is not an ordinary restaurant, and therefore, you will not get an ordinary experience here, either. It is simply extra-ordinary. They do have a beautiful but abbreviated a la carte menu that I hope they expand upon in the future. Undoubtedly, the tasting offering is the crown jewel. Adam, Luke, Landon, and Erika (and the other incredible staff members we encountered, but did not learn the name of) have carved themselves out as a collective of genuine creatives bringing the people of the upstate a singular and unique cuisine firmly rooted in farm-to-table philosophy. They forage and harvest many ingredients from their own farm in Taccoa Georgia, in addition to sourcing from local farms. Adam also has woven in some of his Italian heritage, frequently offering handmade pastas cooked perfectly al dente. The sommelier Luke is also expert as his craft, and the cocktail menu he and Landon collaborated on was refreshing both literally and conceptually. We entered as under-dressed stragglers off the street with no reservation and were embraced as old friends. There is just a ton of heart and artfulness to everything that this crew is doing. The fact that this establishment opened in 2022 and the owner/head chef Adam still comes out to introduce himself and speak with every table is remarkable. No detail is left unconsidered, and the entire experience start to finish feels undeniably bespoke. We have been fortunate enough to have eaten all over the world, particularly my husband who travels internationally for work, and Commoners stands among the upper echelon. He remarked that not only was this easily the best restaurant in the upstate, but also one of the most memorable meals of his lifetime. They are pioneers in their league, and Anderson SC is incredibly lucky to have them. We look forward to returning soon, and are pleased to attest that these Commoners... are anything but common.

The match was delicious! Some of the service was fantastic and some wasn't so great. The ambiance is amazing, kinda like a speakeasy. Worth a visit! I'm hoping to visit later in the day for dinner and drinks.

This restaurant is fantastic! I'm talking James Beard stuff here people. We were in Anderson for a quick weekend getaway and ended up here both nights. The staff here are consummate professionals (Emma Lane, Becca, Luke and the team) and the dining is curated, thoughtful, palate satisfying , and stunningly delicious. We ended up doing the tasting menu, I highly suggest it. Nice smaller portions to be able to taste the whole menu almost. Luke the bartender made us a cocktail tasting menu to go with it, pairing perfectly. Make sure to ask for this if you enjoy cocktails. Also, the ambience is an absolute vibe being in a building built in the early 1900s. 12/10 chef kiss.

This place is such a gem! We were in Anderson for a quick weekend getaway and ended up here both nights. The staff here are real professionals (Emma Lane, Becca, et. al) and the cuisine is curated, thoughtful, detailed, and DELICIOUS. We ended up doing the tasting menu and had no regrets. Luke the bartender made us cocktails to go along with each course and it was truly special. Vibes are 10/10. We will be back if only to revisit this spot!

I am going to disagree with others here. My husband and I visited for dinner (with reservations) expecting something much different than what we got. The Common House is anything but common. Come prepared to spend a lot of money for food that may or may not be what you really want to eat. The alternative is to walk out but we wanted to give it a try, so we did. We felt pressured to choose the $100 per person tasting menu. We did not do so as the menu had many foods we do not like and, frankly, had no intention of spending that much money. We came close though. We chose appetizer (bruscetta), main dish (pasta), and dessert (creme brulee). There was no chicken or fish on the menu. Apparently, that just is not what they do there. The appetizer was the only thing we enjoyed. The pasta was undercooked, gummy, and underseasoned. The creme brulee was covered in sugar rocks rather than the typical sugar crust. The sugar rocks were most unpleasant as is breaking a tooth. The service started out well but we found ourselves left sitting there for long periods of time without any server interaction. The servers were buzzing about every other table (they ordered the $100 tasting menu). It was awkward being left in the corner ignored. We simply were waiting to be offered dessert. No offer came. We had to flag someone down. What a let down of an experience. We will stick to day time coffee, which is good but not coffee house good. The building is worth a visit though. Go in daytime where you can walk around and see it.

Excellent coffee, excellent service, excellent atmosphere and tons of seating space in the back. The espresso machine pictured is wild to find in a random cafe in Anderson, truly a one of a kind machine in the states. The Common House is a coffee gem in the upstate!

i'm new(ish) to anderson and have been looking for a go to coffee spot for awhile. this week i've gotten to try a couple drinks from common house and i have to say- i'm really impressed. both times i asked the baristas to make me their favorite drinks. one time i got a lavender latte (not my fave but enjoyable enough that i finished it) and the second time i got a dirty coco iced and a little less sweet. both times the baristas quite literally MADE the experience. they were so kind and sociable, and it was so nice getting to chat while getting a drink that i was excited to try. i think the dirty coco will probably be my new go to as long as it's on the menu. also the cinnamon rolls??? a hidden gem. truly. thanks common house for turning my day around this morning & thanks for putting me on a great latte. it's a game changer!

I have never craved a crepe before having theirs. Now I think about it often. Great spot to have coffee, drinks, brunch, dessert, and their chai is VERY tasty. Not overly sweet at all. This is my new favorite spot for a local chai. Love the dark and moody vibes inside. And the service has been great every time we have stopped in!

Hubby got the meat calzone, it had one most beautiful crusts I've seen in a while and he said it was delicious! I ordered the chicken parm which came with a side salad and bread. The chicken parm warmed my heart! That's how it used to come at the restaurant I worked at and the bread.. I could eat 10 of them! Food is delicious! We'll definitely order again and hopefully will be able to dine in soon.

You know what I mean. But yelp has never steered us wrong so I parked and went in. We were seated right away and our drink orders came quickly. We decided on a seafood dinner that we would share and we ordered a second dinner salad as the meal included one. When our meal came out it was split into two plates because they knew we were sharing. A nice touch. And it was served steaming hot and delicious! Clams, mussels, shrimp and a fish fillet on top of spaghetti and served with garlic bread and a wonderful cheesy tomato sauce. The two of us could barely finish the one dinner. But we did! And all for under $30. Hard to do these days. If you're in the mood for Italian food, you should give Brothers a try.

While zipping along I-85 as Mrs. K. and I headed back toward Charlotte, I asked her what she wanted for dinner. Instead of saying "I don't know," she said, "How about Olive Garden?" I replied, "OK." No argument. For what it was, the experience was excellent. Parking was easy, the hostess greeted us warmly and seated us right away, the table was clean, and our waitress appeared promptly. The music was heavy on Frank Sinatra but not too loud. We ordered drinks and were ready to place our dinner order. Within minutes, the familiar big bowl of salad arrived along with breadsticks. Before we had finished the first serving of salad, our main courses were delivered. Mrs. K. chose the fettucine alfredo. The portion was generous, creamy, and visually appealing. Unfortunately, it was bland. As we have learned, this is not an Anderson SC problem. It is an Olive Garden problem. They simply do not season or salt very much, if at all. The pasta was cooked and presented well, but the flavor was missing. My main course was spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta itself had no flavor and was overcooked, but the meat sauce was surprisingly good. The three meatballs were nicely sized, tasty, and cooked properly. I enjoyed the dish and even used a second breadstick to mop up the sauce. Overall, Olive Garden met my expectations. It was decent, though bland. The service was excellent, the restaurant was comfortable, and perhaps I will visit another Olive Garden in another six years. [Review 1493 of 2025 - 1365 in South Carolina - 25046 overall]
