The Comedy Attic is usually my night-life go to. If you have a sense of humor, you are guaranteed to laugh at at least one of the comics on the lineup for any particular night. The service is great. There is also a pretty decent drink selection. I love the Top Shelf Teas, but beware, they are $8 a drink and go down like water (or something that tastes better than water). You do have to abide by the 2 item minimum policy, which is effortless if you drink. I have found it a bit harder to drink 2 sodas within the time I am there, and even harder to order 2 food items. The food isn't very good. Actually, to be honest, it isn't good at all. I regrettably ordered the cheese sticks once, and have sworn off ordering food anymore. It is too expensive for the quality - and the quality is Sysco. If you go ready to laugh, you're in for a good night. The rules keep the crowd in line and keep comedians coming back. Some of my favorite comedians have been straight outta Bloomington. Get off Yelp and go and laugh. 4 stars because of the food situation, which could definitely improve. read more

Saw Whitest Kids You Know here - got there a little late, so seating was scarce. I couldn't see the video screen that was part of the act, so that was a bit confusing for a lot of the show. Also, had to buy $8 (4 bottles) of water as I was there with my teenage daughter. That being said, I then got to meet the WKYK and take many photos with them after the show. I absolutely love this place! They get a huge variety of awesome comedians, the atmosphere is fun, and it's just unarguably always a fantastic time. :) Ticket prices are very reasonable. Keep in mind that there's a two item minimum, but they have a pretty solid variety of foods and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to choose from. There is a lot of street parking nearby along with a large parking garage kitty-corner from the location. Depending on where you're headed from, it's in a pretty bike/walk/bus-able location too. It's also in proximity to many restaurants and bars if you're looking for something to do before or after the show! read more

The Comedy attic is a cool place that's bringing in exciting and original comics. They organize the Limestone Comedy Festival, which had great shows. The quality of the standup was really good, and the staff was friendly. I liked this place a lot, would return. It's in a cool part of Bloomington with lots going on nearby, so you can really make a night out of it. read more

I am a big fan of The Comedy Attic. I have been to three shows, and the comedians have all been very funny. They seem to do a good job of picking comedians that don't rely exclusively on jokes about sex or race to get a laugh. I was lucky enough to be visiting Bloomington and someone wanted to take me to the Comedy Attic. The show was hilarious. One local, one nearby comedian, one headliner. Could not have laughed more. My face ached from smiling and my hands stung from clapping. I really like the house rules. They make the show a lot more fun. Sit back, relax, and laugh your butt off. Dare I say it? I got the pleasure of seeing the great Marc Maron at the great comedy venue The Comedy Attic. It was perfect. The club itself is great; it's small and personal and we were about two feet away from the actual stage. The performers were able to communicate with the audience flawlessly and the people didn't have to strain themselves to have a good view of the comedian. After walking up some stairs, you arrive at the ticket booth where you show them your ticket or purchase your ticket and you are then escorted to an available seat. I like that they do this because it limits fighting for seats. There is VIP, which is simply closer to the stage, and then there is general admission, which is the rest of the seats. Our tickets were VIP because we really like Maron. The drinks were reasonably priced--around $5 each. Comedy venues usually mandate a two drink minimum, but The Comedy Attic didn't seem to pressure you to buy drinks. I had two Quarryman pints and my total was a little over $10. They stress that people should limit their movement of going to the bathroom and going outside, as well as talking out to the comedian, so I tried to limit myself so I wouldn't have to go to the bathroom. Which worked! The waitresses did their jobs perfectly. I couldn't believe how the three of them kept track of everyone's drink orders. You order your drinks throughout the show and everyone pays at the end of the show and I couldn't believe their accuracy. I was extremely impressed. In terms of a small, intimate comedy venues, this one is as good as it gets. We were able to meet Marc Maron at the end of the show on our way out and the entire experience couldn't have been better. read more

Let's be honest, Bloomington, IN is not a metropolis people are dying to visit, and yet every comedian worth his weight in mithril wants to headline this place. I'm mainly giving this place 5 stars because of the comedians that I've seen here: Rob Delaney and Eddie Pepitone, who are fantastic. However they do it great here, complete respect for performers (heckling will get you kicked out), waitresses are friendly, and you feel about as comfortable as you'd like while laughing your ass off. read more

I can't speak to the quality of show but I can attest that The Comedy Attic has great customer service! I made a mistake with my tickets and reached out on their online form. Within less than an hour, I got an email from Jared. Mind you - this was an issue with a Christmas gift so I was emailing on Christmas Day and Jared was responding, too! Wow! I just reached out today to check on the issue and a few minutes later I got a response back that they're closed now but it's on his list of to do's. Recently went here with my sister and some friends, was very excited to go. Unfortunately within being there for not even 5 minutes a server ran into me and spilled all of her drinks on me (by accident) and my initial reaction to profusely apologize since I felt bad for her (and my soaked pants), but instead of the server apologizing back and offering a towel or anything at all, turned to me exasperated and huffed in anger and frustration at me. I have never been treated so poorly by a serving staff like that. In addition, there was only one seat left for me at "our table", but the seat was not actually at any table, is was in a weird, unreachable quandary between multiple tables and not even enough room for my legs. Not wanting to sit uncomfortably (and in beer soaked pants) for the next 90 minutes I told my friends I would just meet them after the show and see if I could get a refund for my ticket. Explaining everything that has happened thus far to the box office person and asking for a refund of the ticket price, she says that is fine, she just asks me to hold on a second. A few moments later, whom I only can assume is a manager or the owner, comes out and the first thing out of his mouth to me was, "Whats your problem??", at this point I feel that I have kept a calm, fair, and even nice demeanor the entire time, but a manager acting this rudely to a customer is completely ridiculous. I then explain to him everything over again, and if I can get a refund for me ticket, and add "...Since the show tonight seems to be sold out, I understand if I cannot get a refund for my ticket." The manager then proceeds to tell me (I am paraphrasing here, but this is VERY close to what he tells me): "I just want you to understand what your giving up here, this is going to be a great show, and I don't understand what you're doing. Your actions speak of someone that is an asshole, but you seem like a really cool guy, you just are acting like an asshole would." Yes ladies and gentlemen, I was called an "asshole" not once, but twice by a manager at The Comedy Attic. This was COMPLETELY unprovoked, and completely unnecessary, I cannot believe they allow their staff to act in such a immature manner. The manager ended up giving me my money back in cash after about another 5 minutes of him telling me how crazy I was for wanting to leave a comedy club that was one of the top in the nation (or so he claims). I do not believe The Comedy Attic is even in the top anything if they treat their customers like this. So to close, I think that The Comedy Attic has great acts that come through, and could be a great place, but since their servers and managers act like incompetent children, I can't recommend this as anything more then a waste of your time and money. This place was HORRIBLE! I was part of a birthday party--16 people. This group made up roughly 50% of the audience. The staff told us that we "ruined" their night and criticized us during the show. I've been in clubs with hecklers or groups that were rude-- we were NOT that group. After complaining about the treatment-the owner continued to blame us. I've never seen anything like it. I went to see Tom Brady for the 10:30 new years eve show, which was amazing! The doors opened a little late, so there was a line of people out in the cold waiting for them to open up. I'm not sure if that is typical or not. My boyfriend and I got seated directly in front of the stage though, so even with the line there was no problem hearing or seeing the comedians. As a first timer to Comedy Attic, I really liked Brad's "rules", which help make it a fun atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. The drinks were good, a little high in price, but nothing I wouldn't expect from a comedy club. I really appreciate what Jared and company are doing here. After buying tickets for almost every show this month, I've realized I'm a regular. I've been to at least 15 shows here in the last couple of years and I love it a little more each time. Kyle Kinane, Brian Posehn, Hannibal Burress, Marc Maron, Doug Benson, Judah Friedlander, Maria Bamford - these folks are fantastic and are at the top of their game. But they are also bringing in rising star comics- like Dan Telfer, Kumail Nanjiani, and the Beards of Comedy AND they are nurturing local talent who are just getting started in their career, like Ben Moore. But the Attic isn't just about the quality of the headliner acts (and their often great openers who will be returning soon as headliners themselves), but also about their great business once you are in the club. Service is great. Tickets are affordable (between $10-25 per show, depending on the act) and their drinks and food are also reasonable ( I usually end up spending $10-15 a head including a nice tip). Also, bathrooms are clean (thanks, guys). I'm so pleased Bloomington has this great club and this burgeoning comedy scene - I'm sure one day when I move away I am going to miss it terribly. I should say - I buy all my tickets online and get VIP seats whenever available and while there's a small charge for that, I find it useful. There are usually seats still available the night of for most acts I've been to, but shows do sell out - like both of Doug Benson's. It's not unusual to get free tickets to an upcoming show after you attend another - I use these to lure friends to come along so in can get them hooked, too! Take a chance! read more

Picture the classic comedy club with the brick wall, lower ceilings, close knit tables and chairs, and curtains as dividers. Imagine feeling hopeful that the one server you love who is always friendly, quick, and also laughs at the jokes is the one who will be waiting on your table. Envision the cold buckets of beers or their notable drink dessert the Electric Root Beer delivered just as the show begins. Visualize the lineup of comedians: well-known, famous, and/or local, and the laughs! To top it off, this is the only comedy club that has allowed me the opportunity to exchange words and take photos with their guest comedians and for me to give them and the club more respect. Love the Comedy Attic! As someone who has had the pleasure of performing there in addition to seeing many great nationally known comedians I have to say that this club is run with a lot integrity. Their website fails to disclose a 2 item minimum purchase requirement during the checkout process, so the price was not actually as stated. We received no notice about the policy until after the show had started. After the fact, I found this on their FAQ page, which people won't necessarily see before buying tickets: "A charge equal to the two least expensive items on the menu will be added to your bill if you are unable to find a combination of two items." However, they did not follow their own policy. The least expensive item is a two dollar bottle of water, but we were charged 5 dollars, not four when declining the two item minimum. Finally, the wait staff did not return our change when we paid. This was our first and likely last experience at the Comedy Club. The comedy was decent, but there are other places to have a good time in Bloomington with better business ethics. read more

My wife and I saw Greg Hahn this weekend, he was hilarious. The comedy overall was great from the MC on. The atmosphere was good, the sound great, even the loud table next to me was dealt with by the staff quickly. I would award a 5 star if it wasn't for the very disappointing drinks we were served. My wife's cosmo and my vodka tonic, both requested with Grey Goose had zero to very little vodka in them, I expect a weaker drink at a place like this but I tasted no alcohol. When the waitress asked us for our second drink we told her about it and she couldn't have cared less. Our second drink were sodas. My wife's was delivered but mine never made it to the table, I was charged for it though. We had to deal with the issue during the headliner which affected our ability to enjoy the end of his show. My advice, drink a beer, wine or a soda. They clearly will skimp on the alcohol and if you have an issue....Well that sucks for you. read more

I can't believe I got to see David Foley and Brian Posehn in my own town! Comedy Attic is top notch, and attracts some really great names as well as local comedy and up-and-comers. Love the comedy attic! Started going to shows with my boyfriend and we liked it so much that we went week after week for about a month. It's a fun place to double date or do something when your parents come into town if you're a student in the area. Only didn't get the 5 star rating because you're required to order a certain amount of items off of the menu and they make awkward announcements about tipping your waiters a certain percentage each time. I always tip well, but a little tacky for them to mention it multiple times per show. read more
