She and four friends (a group of five) walked in on a Thursday night and were told by the bartender she wouldn't serve them as a group of five because she was "the only one working." Oddly, she said she would have served them if they were a group of three and a group of two. They offered to come up one by one to order instead. They did just that--individually bought beers--but when one of her friends (a Black man) walked back outside within the rails of the establishment, the bartender followed him, grabbed the beer out of his hand, and poured it in the street. She claimed it was "past the rail," even though other groups in the exact same spot were drinking without issue. When they asked for clarification, she eventually handed another friend ~$7 cash to give back to him. The whole situation felt discriminatory, especially since the group was diverse (including Black, Arab, and LGBTQ+ friends), respectful, and well-dressed professionals. Meanwhile, other patrons were not treated this way. To make it worse, when one of them asked a simple question about whether the former owner still ran the place, another customer started yelling at her, saying "everyone knows [owner's name], that doesn't make you special" and the bartender did nothing. What should have been a normal, fun night out turned into an incredibly uncomfortable experience.

They sometimes host roller derby matches and host fund raising events, I think. There is a chance that off season, if you go when there is a lighter crowd, they may not be fully staffed, which stinks if you want a bite or a fountain drink. The outside does look very tired. There are pieces of metal on the building that were signs once, and the tarp with the name and logo of the business is badly faded. The music is usually really loud, so be ready! They play some fun games during open skate, but those can also vary depending on whether or not they are fully staffed. The 4 corners game is a fun way to win a piece of candy or two. Definitely a good way to spend a few hours. The claw machines are what I call "bad claw". Beware!!

I am disgusted with the treatment provided to 3 IU grads, a former little 500 champion, and a large # of guests. It left a stain on an otherwise spectacular weekend. So many cool things about that experience... 1) I used a chainsaw for the first time and now I want to cut down all the trees! 2) We put something that wouldn't fit in our car in our relatively new truck bed... it was sooooo big! 3) While I was there, I bought several jars of their honey (again)! They have completely embraced the "hot honey" trend and are making some amazing honeys that are perfect for a nice "drizzle" on pizza, a Christmas ham or even as a sweetener in your green beans or spaghetti sauce!
