This review is strictly for food--I'm glad this place exists presenting the weird music that they are. That said, the hot dogs are...not great for a place specializing in hot dogs. They're a bit too squishy, probably due to being steamed rather than charred, and I found the bun to be soggy and untoasted, the vegan "chili" to really just be black beans, and the "horseradish aioli" to just be ordinary mayo. I'm sure I'll be back for music, but I'll probably just order a drink next time. read more

"Hipster hotdog bar" with cool vibes, increasing beer & wine quality and shabby chic charm. We had a vegan Fang Banger while attending a comedy show. I was not impressed with the bun quality. Mine arrived soggy. (My pet peeve) Other ingredients were yummy together. Get better buns boys! I recommend talking to Scholars Bakehouse and getting something local. The service was spotty the night we were there because it was packed, however I went up to the bar and ordered no problem and they delivered everything. Staff reminded me of retiring 1980's punk rockers and I was here for it. We went the first month they were open and quality has improved tremendously over all. Fun retro date night! read more

This is one of my husband's favorite bars in Bloomington. Good selection on draft and can beer, plus food options (hot dog, popcorn, plus vegan options). They also have wine. The pinball machines are a hit- unlimited play based on the time your party wants to reserve the room. My favorite is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but they also have Stranger Things, Terminator, a popular (hard!) medieval themed game, and a few others. The staff is super friendly. Keep a lookout just a few hundred feet north of The Tap... head down the stairs and you'll find a cool locally owned bar. read more

It's a basement dive bar, downstairs from Darn Good Soup on Bloomington's Square. Small, cozy, not much seating. Has low-carb drinks and mostly meat-based bar food. Some pinball machines are outside. They get some duos and trios of musicians in there sometimes; more crowded still. As others here mention, ventilation is fairly poor. This said, it can be fun in a dive-bar sort of way. It's an alternative to the heavier and boozier bars in the downtown area. Younger crowd. Only vaguely expensive. Been here twice; fun each time. read more

Stopped in for lunch this afternoon after seeing photos of their hotdogs on Facebook and I'm glad I did! I love the atmosphere of Orbit Room - definitely a bit of a 'cave', it's literally underground. I ordered "The Madam" as an all-beef hotdog and chose the brown butter popcorn as a side. First of all, the popcorn was crazy good and I wasn't expecting that! I love popcorn and this may become a new obsession. The hotdog itself was awesome and loaded with great toppings - tomatillo, queso fresco, and more. The bun and dog themselves were also great quality and didn't fall apart under the topping mountain. I really love the ambiance in the Orbit Room. It gives off major speakeasy vibes! My current favorite drink is the Cherry Mango Sour on tap. They recently reopened in accordance to local and state social distancing requirements for dine in service. Initially, I was a bit confused with how the new process worked and wished signage was available to inform us of the new changes. Despite the confusion the distanced layout and compliance by staff to create a safe environment was greatly appreciated! PSA: Highly recommend getting a vegan hot dog here! read more

Orbit room is amazing ! My daughter is vegan and they had so many options for her to choose from. The beef dogs are great and the buns are super soft as well. The pin ball room is fun and you can rent it out for a small fee. Definitely recommend this place to beer lovers, they have a large selection of whacky beers with great flavors. Horrible smelling basement bar. Think sewage! Had the misfortune of trying their Kim Chee on a warm "hot" dog. Kim Chee tasted like the bar smelled. Rank! Way, way, way overpriced. Definitely my favorite bar in Bloomington... a super clean, friendly, and eclectic atmosphere. Orbit is also my #1 go-to delivery option during Covid, I only have amazing things to say. You can get beer, seltzer, and cider DELIVERED TO YOUR HOUSE. I don't eat a lot of meat and the vegan and chipotle vegan dogs are INSANE amazing. All the toppings are really high quality for the dogs, I have a hard time picking!! The drink selection is just as amazing. It's definitely not limited to drinking alcohol either - DO NOT LEAVE until you try a CBD sparkling water. Life changing. 10/10 recommend read more

I adore this bar. (too) I love cocktails. They don't have any. What they do have is a small (8ish drafts, about the same in cans and bottles) interesting, rotating beer selection, a very reasonable wine selection, and a, small, hot dog-centric food menu. All hot dogs have a vegan option. You can get chips, too. So, limited food selection, but whatevs. Fantastic soundtrack. Frequent, small shows. Friendly bar staff. Reasonable service times. And, (for me) the best part: a separate room with six pinball machines. It's in the basement, so no windows. No view. But a very good vibe, and a stellar place for a few drinks, good music, hanging out with friends. read more

I love the Orbit Room because they care about their staff and their customers. I know when I come there to dine or just get drinks that they're doing everything they can to make everyone feel safe during a pandemic. The atmosphere is great with colorful lights, the music is always fun, and the food is unbeatable. Plus it has pinball and unique programming you can't get at any other restaurant/bar in town. The bands that come through there will always leave you with a good experience. Plus the monthly movies with Cicada Cinema are sure to get you to step out of your comfort zone and see something new. If you haven't tried them yet you are missing out on a true gem. Getting your food to go is always an option and sometimes they even do delivery. read more
