Needed some coffee and breakfast before our adventure in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We enjoyed our initial visit so much, we stopped by a second time after we finished in the park to get another caffeine-fix. Coffee Trader has so much charm and character that is immediately evident when you drive up. Located inside an old house, they have maneuvered their coffee shop around the house instead of adapting the house to fit their needs. And it just makes the experience that much more enjoyable. They have a surprisingly large menu here with great drink selections. Such a great variety of syrups - first coffee shop I've ever been to that offers an amaretto syrup. I added it to my mocha - what a great combination. If you like amaretto, definitely recommend giving it a try. Their Black Canyon was also tasty, but it's super sweet - so you need a good sweet tooth to really enjoy this one. Besides their pastries, they have a couple food items. The sausage burrito was a good start to the morning. Easy to find street parking. Overall, a really enjoyable coffee shop. Would definitely recommend stopping by - especially if you're on your way to Black Canyon! read more

We were kicking off Sunday morning on our way back from a weekend on the west side of the state. The previous morning we did drive thru of a national chain out of convenience and it was not a pleasant experience. In the morning I need my caffeine and we wanted breakfast burritos. This checked all the boxes. Indicator one of good coffee and eats? A line to the door. The line moved swiftly and the service was pleasant and efficient. I got my large latte. Ahhhhh! We both enjoyed our breakfast burritos. They were amply packed with ingredients. We both had sausage. If I find myself in the area again, I will have a go to for my breakfast. read more

We ordered two breakfast burritos and two hot teas. The teas were delicious. The breakfast burritos were weird. They kind of mushed everything together in a soggy tortilla. I think they made the filling ahead of time and put them into a tortilla and microwaved horrible food there we go them. They were awful. We kept having to repeat our order to the person at the register. It's like he couldn't understand anything we were saying. There was no way to find out when our stuff was ready. We just had to keep checking the counter. Really bad customer service. Horrible food. read more

Drink recommendation: Dark Chocolate + hazelnut syrup = mocha mountain drink on the menu. It's amazing. Scone: it doesn't have the typical scone shape. It's a little bit too sweet, but overall ok. Avoid at all cost: breakfast sandwiches. It's McDonald's equivalent (or worse?). You get 2 pieces of burger buns (I don't think they are brioches), hams and over colored cheddar cheeses. This adorable coffee shop is not to be missed! We ended our girls weekend in Ouray by stopping here for a quick nibble and a good cup of coffee. They delivered both perfectly! My friend and I both got their breakfast burritos, which came out warm and delicious and comforting. I actually got black tea with a little cream and sugar and my friend got a cup of coffee. We were both happy with our choices. We sat outside and enjoyed our meal on a perfect fall morning. There were a lot of people, great sign right?! Might I say their area of town is beautiful as well! Coffee Trader was a great little stop in Montrose. We visited for a few days and were able to stop in for coffee and breakfast that was great. They have great iced coffee, good hot coffee and amazing breakfast sandwiches. I got a normal drip coffee which was good, not the greatest, but a good cup of coffee. I also had their ham, egg and cheese breakfast croissant which was EXCELLENT. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the place has both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of it. There is good WiFi and just good vibes. Overall a great place to stop for a quick cup of coffee or hang out for a little longer work or study session! read more

On the corner of Main Street and Junction Avenue, is a 2-story Victorian. I would be remiss to say this is an ordinary Victorian home in the small town of Montrose, but it's not. In fact, it's a coffee "house" in the true sense and there is something quite special about this place that sets it apart from others around town. Let's begin with the outside where there is a spacious covered porch, surrounded by beautifully manicured grounds. As you reach the foot of the porch steps and look to your right, you'll find a vine-covered archway that takes you into a private and cozy patio with tables and market umbrellas. In the center is a big tree wrapped with twinkle lights that creates a warm and beautiful evening glow. Now step inside and grab a seat by the window or plant yourself at one of the many tables while you admire artwork by locals adorning the walls (which by the way many are for sale). Better yet, if you come here for a meeting, head upstairs to one of two rooms and get your computers out because they have free Wi-Fi all around. If you simply want some quiet time, pull a book off the shelf and get cozy by the window while sipping your green tea. I've been coming to the Coffee Trader for a number of years and in many ways I've seen it evolve. The owners are continually updating the place and doing whatever they can to make it your coffee home away from home. The coffee, tea, smoothies, etc. are always good, not to mention the baked goods and breakfast burritos. I've tried many Chai Latte's and I gotta say no one beats the Coffee Trader...they are by far the absolute best! The Cinnamon scones are to die for! The Coffee Trader is always warm, friendly, inviting and relaxing...a daily meet and greet place for the local folks. Love coffee trader now and always have! Their freezers are my favorite (with the black canyon being my fav), but they also make a great chai latte. The spot on Main Street is the best place to meet up with friends or for a business meeting (especially if it's summer and you can sit in the garden). We got two blended coffees (classic and islander). Pretty good, but they separated really quickly and became icy. Whipped cream is "real" and is a nice addition to the freeze. They have puppy cups for your pooches. Super friendly, fast service. -1 star bc I was hoping for more of a milkshake consistency; other than that, I would recommend. read more

I live walking distance to the Coffee Trader on Main Street, that said, I've been there many, many times. Dee and Phong are wonderful people and the food and coffee are wonderful. It has a cool vibe inside and a very large and shaded outdoor area to sit and "coffee klatch" with friends. Everything is always super clean. They have a large conference room on the top floor as well. I usually switch between the ciabatta breakfast sandwiches and the croissant sandwiches. They really are very good.
