This place is such a cool hole in the wall! They keep their menu simple but committed to top notch quality coffee. We ordered cortados, and they were properly served with sparkling water on the side. The woman working there was really friendly, and she made our drinks rather quickly. The location itself is cute and located in a historic building. Since they are a roaster first and foremost, they have a bunch of equipment and also large bags of pre-roasted beans on premise. You can buy freshly roasted coffee beans to take to-go. We had the most wonderful experience here! We came in just after opening and the space was quiet and empty. The barista was so kind and helpful! We recently concluded a whirlwind tour of Colorado that had us pass through Montrose 3 times and we stopped here each time because it was such a delightful place. My wife and I do espresso at home and prefer simple lattes where we can taste and appreciate the coffee so we were thrilled to see them roasting in the mornings and even decided to buy a bag that had just been roasted the previous day. It appears that they buy their green beans from Onyx so they're definitely serious about their craft. Service was so friendly and we often found ourselves wishing we could get another drink there because the coffee really shined. read more

Cimarron Coffee Roasters is da BOMB! I seriously cannot believe I haven't been here before...lucky for me my girlfriend wanted to meet up before a little power walk. As soon as I stepped inside I immediately dug the decor and atmosphere. Definitely has an industrial vibe...cement floors, high ceilings, brick walls and exposed metal beams...love! Of course you can't but not smell the incredible aroma of fresh artisanal coffee! My friend got an espresso and treated me to a bhakti chia latte. I wanted a "skinny" but they only had whole milk. I am a huge fan of the location in Ridgway so I decided to give the Montrose location a try. The atmosphere alone is what killed this place for me. There was no music or any real noise. Not greeted upon entering. The space is sterile with no color or decor. It feels like you're in someone's back storage room with random stuff everywhere and limited seating. Coffee was very good. They had very limited food options- just one type of muffin or one type of scone. The berry scone was very good. I wish they would try to do something to make this place feel less like an annex on the psych ward at a hospital inside. The Ridgway location ambiance is way better and you feel way more welcome there. read more

Nice little hipstery coffee shop off the main road in Montrose. We camped nearby and wanted some good coffee before heading out of town. The Cortado was traditionally made and the drip brew was made with their own roast. The breakfast burrito and side of salsa was also tasty! We did stop during the times of Covid, so there was only outside seating at 3 tables out front and you had to order at the walk up window. The menu only had a few drink options and 1 breakfast option-- not sure if this was Covid related or typical. read more

Before I continue this review, I'd like to note I am not a coffee drinker, and I am the proprietor's sister, so I have family bias. That being said, this roastery is awesome! I love the ambiance, very industrial meets classy. The open space and tall ceilings make the place feel like a gallery, and the art being exhibited is the coffee bean. It's not the kind of coffee cafe where one can pull up some comfy chairs and hang for a while, though there is seating (for nice days, the porch offers a good place to chill under the umbrella). I noted that most people either came and went--grabbing a caffeine hit and a breakfast bite--on their way to work, or they stood and chatted a while, like one does in a gallery opening. The roastery showcases Eric's artisan blends and lets customers see where the magic happens. Since he takes so much care in preparing coffee that tastes light and gives mouth cred to the bean itself, rather than the roasting flavor, it's cool to see the process in action. And as my husband noted, the espresso and milk was "yummy." He was sad to finish it. For non-coffee folk like myself, there is a selection of teas (I forgot to take a pic), bakery bites, and a breakfast burrito. So, what's the best part of the roastery experience? The award-winning product aside, its the smart, friendly, and knowledgeable baristas. They know the products and can help you find what you didn't even know you wanted to give you an experience you'll remember. Case in point. I'm not into chai. Or so I thought. They whipped me up a little taste of their Bhakti chai to give me a chance to rethink my stance, and HOT DAMN! They were right. It's seriously lip-smacking good. Now, I have a whole new drinking experience opened up to me. I'm grateful. So, if you're anywhere around the area, whether running errands around town, heading to Telluride for a festival, or enjoying all the outdoor fun the area has to offer, this is a must stop for your morning get-go or your afternoon pick-me-up. read more

Such a great little coffee shop with freshly roasted artisanal coffee. Could be a bit stronger, but certainly the best tasting I've found around here. Appreciated the window for outside ordering during the summer, and the cute patio tables for enjoying a cup o' joe. Owner was super nice, too, as was everyone I interacted with. Came out to Montrose for a long weekend and was worried I wouldn't find decent coffee, but was pleasantly surprised to find this shop on the edge of downtown. Good vibes, open and inviting space, and the coffee options are great. They serve a solid cup of joe, delicious espresso drinks, and fancy pour-over coffees. If you're looking for a cold drink try the nitro cold brew. My girlfriend was very happy with her cold chai with an espresso shot added. After a week in Telluride our driver who was taking us to the airport suggested we stop by for a cup of coffee before we go. I drink lots of coffee, like I drink lots of wine. I don't know much about them, but I know what I like! The gentleman who I believe was the owner, was super warm and welcoming and patient with us as we asked tons of questions to make sure we were getting the right brew. Cimarron is a coffee experience. I'm not an everyday coffee drinker but I was traveling through Montrose and felt like checking this place out after seeing it recommended somewhere. I am so glad I did! I had an cappuccino made with oat milk, and a giant chocolate chip cookie for later. Both were great and the guys who worked there were super friendly. Cool building, too! Very simple menu. Established in 2013.

After buying Cimarron Books & Coffeehouse - located in the morning shadow of the Cimarron Mountain Range - a preoccupation with everything coffee led to experimenting with roasting coffee at home. Preoccupation soon gave rise to obsession and the purchase of a 3 kilo commercial roaster; out of which Cimarron Coffee Roasters was born.

So sad to update this review but after our recent experiences I feel it's necessary…read more A couple months ago when the weather was still nice me and my husband decided to sit on the patio. We ordered 2 grilled mother cluckers and bock bock fries (our go to). It was about 4pm and there were only a few people there (we were the only ones outside). After about 40 minutes waiting for our food I decided to go in to check on things. Our order was sitting on the counter. Their response was "sometimes the buzzer doesn't work from the table you're sitting at"..... ummmmm what? We ended up eating the cold chicken (and I mean cold, not luke warm) sandwiches because we were starving but asked them to remake the fries. Fast forward to a few weeks ago it was a Friday and me and a friend ordered some sandwiches and sat in the back half of the brewery . After about 25 minutes my buzzer went off. When I got up to the counter there was an order of fish and chips... they called the wrong buzzer. No biggie. Well another 20 minutes went by and nothing. People around us that ordered after us were getting their food. So I went back up to the counter and there on their service line were our chicken sandwiches. When I asked the employee about my order she went back and checked and came back and said "we just finished them up". I took the sandwiches back to the table and again they were COLD. Not to mention since the coleslaw was sitting on the bun they were completely soggy. Didn't take the sandwiches back because we had a baby with us that needed to go to bed. I'm not sure if it's a buzzer issue or what. But we aren't sure if / when we will be returning to Pomona, sadly.

Black Pepper is my favorite. Dry texture and tender bites. Not tough like you're pulling your teeth out. Beef sticks are good as well, not too greasy like dare I say, "Slim Jim". Mass produced crap. One negative is I wish Ray offered a 1 lb. Bag vs the 3.5oz bags that are $10.99...or $51.00 lb. Also I wish the beef sticks came is sizes of 12 or so vs. 24 pack. That's just too much. Mahogany Smoked Meats (Bishop, CA) is still my favorite but Rays is great.

I think they're comparable to the fancier burgers in the West. However, it's an unfair comparison to In-N-Out considering the gap in their price points. It would be fairer to compare a Culver's to a Habit or 5 Guys. Not phenomenal, but it's something I may consider every once in a while. The kickers were the variety of shakes and their cheese curds. Wow. The cheese curds were simply addicting, and people had to take the bag away from me so that I would stop eating them. The shakes were also phenomenal. It tasted like the foundation of these shakes were on another tier. For those that aren't familiar, there's also flavors of the day, so keep an eye out for those!

It's usually very clean and well taken care of and has become a staple in regard to those fast food days. I don't do fast food a lot but when I do Culver's is at the top of my list. The chicken tenders are another favorite of mine as well there along with all the dipping sauces.

My partner surprised me by securing reservations to their monthly cocktail making class - very cute date night idea btw. The theme for this night was 'Sips & Dips' which consisted of 3 cocktails paired with some type of dip food item to snack on. The menu covered a nice variety of flavors/styles so there was definitely something for all preferences. Each drink was centered around a different spirit which was nice as well. We were very impressed with the quality, presentation, and easy to follow instruction. This was truly a 10/10 experience. We are already looking forward to attending another!

Being from out of town, we enjoyed hearing stories about the local history and upcoming events. Storm King Distilling offers a rye whiskey, a wheat whiskey, and a "fun" whisky called Side Gig. They also make a white tequila, a tequila aged in oak casks, a silver rum, a vodka, and two types of gin. That night, I tried both gins. My favorite was the barrel-rested gin. It had a nice smoky flavor due to resting in oak barrels that were freshly charred.
