The woman working there was really friendly, and she made our drinks rather quickly. The location itself is cute and located in a historic building. Since they are a roaster first and foremost, they have a bunch of equipment and also large bags of pre-roasted beans on premise. You can buy freshly roasted coffee beans to take to-go. We recently concluded a whirlwind tour of Colorado that had us pass through Montrose 3 times and we stopped here each time because it was such a delightful place. My wife and I do espresso at home and prefer simple lattes where we can taste and appreciate the coffee so we were thrilled to see them roasting in the mornings and even decided to buy a bag that had just been roasted the previous day. It appears that they buy their green beans from Onyx so they're definitely serious about their craft. Service was so friendly and we often found ourselves wishing we could get another drink there because the coffee really shined. read more

As soon as I stepped inside I immediately dug the decor and atmosphere. Definitely has an industrial vibe...cement floors, high ceilings, brick walls and exposed metal beams...love! Of course you can't but not smell the incredible aroma of fresh artisanal coffee! My friend got an espresso and treated me to a bhakti chia latte. I wanted a "skinny" but they only had whole milk. I am a huge fan of the location in Ridgway so I decided to give the Montrose location a try. The atmosphere alone is what killed this place for me. There was no music or any real noise. Not greeted upon entering. The space is sterile with no color or decor. It feels like you're in someone's back storage room with random stuff everywhere and limited seating. Coffee was very good. They had very limited food options- just one type of muffin or one type of scone. The berry scone was very good. I wish they would try to do something to make this place feel less like an annex on the psych ward at a hospital inside. The Ridgway location ambiance is way better and you feel way more welcome there. read more

Nice little hipstery coffee shop off the main road in Montrose. We camped nearby and wanted some good coffee before heading out of town. The Cortado was traditionally made and the drip brew was made with their own roast. The breakfast burrito and side of salsa was also tasty! We did stop during the times of Covid, so there was only outside seating at 3 tables out front and you had to order at the walk up window. The menu only had a few drink options and 1 breakfast option-- not sure if this was Covid related or typical. read more

Before I continue this review, I'd like to note I am not a coffee drinker, and I am the proprietor's sister, so I have family bias. That being said, this roastery is awesome! I love the ambiance, very industrial meets classy. The open space and tall ceilings make the place feel like a gallery, and the art being exhibited is the coffee bean. It's not the kind of coffee cafe where one can pull up some comfy chairs and hang for a while, though there is seating (for nice days, the porch offers a good place to chill under the umbrella). I noted that most people either came and went--grabbing a caffeine hit and a breakfast bite--on their way to work, or they stood and chatted a while, like one does in a gallery opening. The roastery showcases Eric's artisan blends and lets customers see where the magic happens. Since he takes so much care in preparing coffee that tastes light and gives mouth cred to the bean itself, rather than the roasting flavor, it's cool to see the process in action. And as my husband noted, the espresso and milk was "yummy." He was sad to finish it. For non-coffee folk like myself, there is a selection of teas (I forgot to take a pic), bakery bites, and a breakfast burrito. So, what's the best part of the roastery experience? The award-winning product aside, its the smart, friendly, and knowledgeable baristas. They know the products and can help you find what you didn't even know you wanted to give you an experience you'll remember. Case in point. I'm not into chai. Or so I thought. They whipped me up a little taste of their Bhakti chai to give me a chance to rethink my stance, and HOT DAMN! They were right. It's seriously lip-smacking good. Now, I have a whole new drinking experience opened up to me. I'm grateful. Such a great little coffee shop with freshly roasted artisanal coffee. Could be a bit stronger, but certainly the best tasting I've found around here. Good vibes, open and inviting space, and the coffee options are great. They serve a solid cup of joe, delicious espresso drinks, and fancy pour-over coffees. After a week in Telluride our driver who was taking us to the airport suggested we stop by for a cup of coffee before we go. I drink lots of coffee, like I drink lots of wine. I don't know much about them, but I know what I like! The gentleman who I believe was the owner, was super warm and welcoming and patient with us as we asked tons of questions to make sure we were getting the right brew. Cimarron is a coffee experience.
