Yum!
I have to admit I was a bit worried about this when my husband and I wandered in during our brief 1-hour stop here on a day-trip with a guided tour company. We were pointed to this place as a good and popular spot with those on our trip so we decided to take the advice of others and give it a go.
It's small and nondescript from the street but we walked in and found a bustling coffee shop vibe with folks sitting on comfy chairs and couches in the main part near a fireplace and some seating in the back. We squeezed in between two couples (one with a dog laying down beside their table) and were provided menus.
They also have an outdoor terrace space you can eat at but it was a bit cold for that.
Their menu features several coffee drinks, sandwiches (either on bread, as a baguette or panini), burgers, and some traditional English fare like some bangers and mash daily special I saw.
I went with the chicken panini which was basically just roast chicken breast sliced in small chewable pieces, with mayonnaise, chives, and tomato. It was absolutely delicious and was served with a small house salad with balsamic dressing.
My husband ordered their burger but opted to only get the burger with a bun and ketchup and mayonnaise bc he has the sophisticated palette of a third grader. Still, he said it was "OK".
He ordered a mocha and said it was delicious. The older couple on our right were very nice and we had a pleasant conversation with them about travel and life in general.
They ordered cake and ice cream and it looked delicious but we decided to be good.
We had a very good experience here and a very good meal. I left happy and full and felt good about what I had eaten. I saw a sign on their wall that said they don't serve fast food, they serve good food as fast as they can. And they did!
Well worth a stop in if you are in this area of the Cotswolds. read more
