My son started learning Scratch at the Coder School back in Summer of 2022 because he was very interested to learn something new. We went for a demo and Mark was very personable and engaging. He also shared the different plan options to consider and was very transparent. My son learned a lot about Scratch and then decided to try something else, C#. This was a little bit challenging but he hang in there this year. The teachers/coaches are knowledgeable and my son was fortunate to have a few good ones during his time there. Pros: - employs well qualified UCI computer majors - Offer flexibility in scheduling, anytime you prefer - Great email class reminders and after lesson update with your child's progress level - 24 hour cancellation policy and accommodations on rescheduling or account credit if makeup can't be arranged - Isabella, the front desk attendant, is really helpful and prompt with email inquiries. - My child was able to stay with the same tutor throughout the year. - Recommend 2:1 private tutoring to advance quicker and if they can't find another student at the same level & time, your child will get 1:1 private tutoring Cons: - we have not experienced any negatives so far. read more

My son started sessions at the Coder School back in 2021. Since he didn't have any IT background, he started off with group sessions. The coaches takes really good care of each student and does not leave anyone behind. Due to the great coaching, our son gained knowledge and was eager to learn more so he transitioned over to the 2:1 Code Coaching, which has helped him develop even more. The school has a wonderful team lead by Mark and is very accommodating to any special requests. They are very helpful when you need to change your schedule if you let them know in advance, which helped us a lot since we did have to make a lot of changes which the team was quick to rearrange for us. A fantastic place for kids to learn coding we enrolled our child in 2021 and it has been an incredible experience. The classes are fun, engaging and tailored perfectly for every age and level.The instructors are patient and friendly and know how to explain complex concepts. our kid has not only learned coding basics but also developed critical thinking and problem solving skills. The scholls send you few reminders before your chil's lesson and send you a report after the lesson too which is so amazing. This school doesn't value your time!! I had an appointment and had a hard time finding the entrance to the school and was 10 minutes late, at the front desk, they hadn't even acknowledged my arrival and waited for 5 minutes then when they ignored my arrival, I asked and they said I needed to wait for 45 minutes until they finish or reschedule because they were not sure I was going( although I had emailed them back and confirmed that I was going yesterday) and they said one of their teachers called in sick so they were teaching instead. I mentioned that I was dropped and don't have a car to return, the only answer was " sorry for the inconvenience" I wasted my weekend time for no reason. We looked into other coding schools, but we really liked that they offer Zoom lessons and are super flexible with arranging makeup sessions if you need to miss a lesson. We've been coming to Coderschool (remote) since Spring 2022 and my son really enjoys the instruction. It's hand-ons and the instructors make it pretty easy to follow. My son has made some pretty cool games and graphics on the Scratch platform. I can tell he gets it because he's able to do some of the coding on his own outside of the instructional time. I had an excellent meeting with Mark this week. His depth of experience and knowledge was immediately apparent from the beginning of our meeting. Mark employs a detailed approach, ensuring I understood every step of the process. The coding exercise we started with covered a ton of Material in a digestible way for somebody with limited experience like me. because it was both interactive and inter enjoyable, I felt engaged the entire time and his answers to my clarification questions On the differences between a function and a method precisely answered and resolved the specific subtle differences Such as the differentiating between a function and a method. I Gained a lot from the hour as he was extremely well prepared for the meeting and was flexible when I would ask questions with popped up toggling between questions and answers and leading the lesson plan. I participated in a free trial coding lesson with him, and he was incredibly accommodating to my schedule, even arranging a meeting for The same day I requested. Given his manager responsibilities across multiple locations, I am sure you had to make time to meet With me, Which was greatly appreciated and impressive. Mark not only conveyed the material effectively but also engaged me with thoughtful questions, enhancing my learning experience. His strategic and well-thought-out approach is designed for students to truly comprehend the lessons. Impressively, I found myself recalling his instructions days after our meeting. While I have not interacted with his coaches, I can attest to the quality of his teaching and the coding school methodology in general. We used an interactive tool that allowed him to draw directly on the online IDE he shared with me. This tool was new to me and I found it very engaging. Mark taught me deep concepts that were appropriate for my limited coding experience, significantly enhancing my understanding. For example, he filled in the gaps of knowledge I personally wasn't clear about, for iterative for-loops, if statements, and their respective syntax. As someone who values attention to detail, especially in the logical structure of syntax and the nuances of programming concepts like functions and methods, Mark I delivered precise answers which could only be answered by an experienced professional. Despite being an adult and knowing that the school primarily focuses on teaching children to code, I decided to reach out. I am constantly seeking to upskill and was looking for an expert who could help me learn to code effectively, efficiently, and comprehensively. Mark delivered on all areas, and he clarified my goals and tailored the lesson plan to my specific needs. I highly recommend him for his straightforward approach and extensive knowledge of python and how to teach it to someone from scratch. I look forward to continuing my learning journey with Mark, as spending the one hour with him greatly improved my knowledge of python and its capabilities, growing my knowledge of the programming language and how to use it with formal instruction. I highly recommend spending one hour of your time for the free trial, as I gained so much in that short period of time.
