When I first spoke with him on the phone, he described in great detail what kind of issues might be causing the clock's problems. When he came to fix the clock, he was prompt, courteous, and highly professional. He explained everything he was doing. His wealth of knowledge was very impressive. Clearly he had years of experience and he detailed how he had become educated to repair clocks. I was completely satisfied with his work and highly recommend him. We bought a 130-year-old Gustav Becker regulator clock that needed a lot of work, and it was hard to find anyone locally who seemed to know how to do so. We brought it into the Clock Specialist, and he knew everything about the clock, when it was made, which pieces were original and what needed to be repaired. When we went back to pick it up, he thoroughly explained what he'd done to repair it and provided tips on how to keep it running well including how to adjust the pendulum to speed it up or slow it down and how to level the clock against the wall. But, when we got it home, we didn't get the weights and pendulum inserted correctly and the pendulum would stop. He had us come back where he made some adjustments to make it easier for us, and then showed us exactly how to put it together again when we got home. Then, as we were leaving, I dropped one of the weights in the street breaking the brass hook off the top and separating the metal finish piece from it. Back in we went, and he stopped working on everything else and spent the next two+ hours drilling the hook's threaded base out, replacing the broken hook and then repairing the top piece that had broken off. We were totally impressed; he absolutely understands antique clocks (ours now keeps perfect time), and he took several hours out of his day to help us when we needed it. read more

Normally i don't write reviews at all but they literally push my limit. They don't know what they are doing. I took my clock them because it was making a noise and they said they fixed it after A MONTH and I took it home and actually it wasn't fixed at all. It was making the same noise maybe they just put some wd-40 or lube. So i took it back and they said they were gonna take care of it but its been over A MONTH and still nothing. I called them how long is gonna take and response was it is gonna be ready when it is ready. They didn't even say sorry. They don't even give me an eta. Long story short i got my clock back and they lost the mechanism . My clock was actually working and now i dont even have the mechanism. They are super unprofessional and unorganized. I went here yesterday to get a quartz motor for a wall clock I was fixing and to get an estimate for repairing a Kit Kat Clock, which their site listed as a specialty of theirs. The woman in charge flatly said they don't sell parts. When I asked a question about the motor trying to understand the differences, she said there's only one size and told me to go to Amazon. I showed her my Kit Kat Clock which keeps time fine but doesn't move its tail and eyes. She made it clear that any repair would probably be within range of the cost of a replacement. Her attitude was dismissive throughout. You can search LA for a more apathetic shopkeeper, but you be hard pressed to find someone worse than her. They do have a great selection of Kit Kat Clocks for purchase, but the woman was so unpleasant I will never return. read more

I found this gem of a store with fabulous vintage grandfather, and wall clocks for sale as well as some good workmanship. I just walked in. I had just a couple of small clocks that the handles had broken, in transit and the gentleman 'Greg' was really helpful. Knew straight away how to replace & fix them swiftly, plus he had a box filled of many other 2rd hands for me to choose from, as one of mine had broken off & unable to to replace. I love the wonderful people at The Clock Specialist! They have not only saved a Christmas present; they were able to join my wife's wedding with her engagement ring. You must understand the Christmas present save was HUGE! I had ordered a very specific nautical clock from Etsy. I had received the clock 3 weeks before Christmas but the special glass dome for the clock had shattered due to the lack of packing material (basically nothing holding the clock within the box). I had called around Burbank and really the San Fernando Valley, to find out who had a glass dome. It was the Clock Specialists that not only confirmed they could get the glass within a week, but have it fully installed before my trip (a week before Christmas). The clock ended up being a fantastic surprise gift and one that will be cherished within the family for years to come. Knowing they saved my butt once, I was confident they could help me in my need to join my wife's engagement ring and wedding ring. The two rings were not bought at the same time nor where they designed to go together as a pair. The designs of each ring made it possible to merge but there were complications. More specifically, the rings were two different kinds of metal that handle differently under the heat needed to join them. Once again, The Clock Specialists NAILED IT! Not only were they joined beautifully but manipulated in a way that made them look like they were made to be a pair. I can't praise The Clock Specialists enough! Spent over $1200 to clean and repair 3 clocks... when I called to see about replacing a weight hook from one of the serviced clocks (that by the way you should have fixed) I was told Greg's time was too valuable, that he isn't a parts warehouse and that I can find it online... so much for supporting a small business. Brought three clocks to be repaired. Clock #'s 1 and 2 took over a year to be repaired and after payment of close to $1000, neither of them worked. They were unable to repair the third when it was a very recent clock (the other two were vintage to antique but not uncommon) and wanted to change $150 for nothing. I wanted to replace the motors on two clocks to be silent instead of ticking, and Greg was super helpful, even going ahead and making one of the alterations on the spot, meaning I walked out with one of clocks done!
