I was walking down Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank and noticed some awesome Hawaiian and Tommy Bahama style shirts on racks close to the door and now my Father's Day shopping is complete!! Wanna say "Thank You" to Ralph Persinger/Owner Burbank Antiques for his amazing customer service. Something that is sometimes lost in today's society. I was in the market for an antique tobacco smoking pipe for a prop in a movie I'm doing. I called multiple antique & thrift stores. Ralph was by far the nicest & most helpful just in his demeanor & attitude in wanting to help. He told me he had a ton of old pipes, come take a look? He also informed me that on this particular day, Magnolia Blvd. was closed due to a food & craft festival, but if I drove down the alley behind his store, there was a parking space out back I could use. Upon entering the store, Ralph brought out a huge box of old antique pipes. Told me to pull em all out and look thru them. Even gave me notes & ideas on ones that might be good or right for the time period & era I was looking for. He allowed me to take photos of potentials to send to my producer for her approval. Eventually, my producer and I decided on a great pipe. Ralph agreed and said we made a great choice! Told me a little history of this particular pipe- a Briar. Can't say enough about the care, kind & professional demeanor of Ralph. He's a true gem!! I would highly recommend giving him a call & making a visit to Burbank Antiques. This place is fantastic. A Toys R' Us for nerds, collectors, and the average hunter of curiosities and cool things. They carry a ridiculous assortment of vintage items: Action figures, accessories, video cassettes etc. I came in looking for vinyl records and was not disappointed. They have an admirable collection in most genres, at very agreeable prices. This is all fine on its own, but the staff is also very friendly and helpful. I'm being generous with my 1-star here. Walked in this shop with my daughter and I was showing her old items like phone, tv, lunch boxes. The lady in the shop is quite unfriendly. Asked me if I need help - I politely said "we're just looking and showing my daughter how things used to look". She gave us a snooty look with a hmpppph breath. How very rude. I need to get an iPhone. (like everyone else on the planet) Damn you Verizon with your wide and convenient service areas! Perhaps if I had an iPhone ready at the go I could have seen that the item i was about to purchase for dear old mom on her day of recognition was anywhere between 400 to 3000% overpriced depending on where you priced it at. Admittedly I should have done a bit of research on my part but it still pisses me off when I get taken advantage of. I had very little plan of what to get mom for Mother's day, so I decided to hit up some local merchants to find something out of the ordinary to show my appreciation for all she's done for us (you know, giving me life, that sort of stuff) So I happen upon this place and it looks kind of cool inside. More kitschy type stuff than old timey, lame antiques. While wandering around I see they have antique cameras. Perfect. Mom's got a small collection of antique cameras. So the dude there opens the case and I pick one out. Price $150. Hmmm...what's money for if you can't spend it on loved ones and family. Besides, the shit's antique. That means it's got to be valuable. (here's where the iPhone would have come in real handy.) Dude rings it up and gives me an extra 10% off. Nice huh. I'll be back, no doubt! And I leave feeling pretty proud of myself. I've done good. Found a great gift and discovered a cool kitschy place. So I get home and decide to look up the item in question on my computer machine. Shit! Shit! Shit! I find it selling anywhere from $40 to five goddamn dollars! And of course, the receipt reads in all caps "All Sales Final, F-you!" Ok, I added that last bit. So in conclusion ladies and jelly-spoons, I won't be back to this store anytime soon and I will tell others of my story. Oh and if you were wondering, mom loved the gift. I just didn't tell her how much I paid for it. She doesn't need to know that she raised a foolish son. read more

Fantastic little shop, lots of cool vintage collectibles. Walking in here is a like a trip down memory lane for kids of the 80's and 90s. They have a neat selection of vintage action figures, CD's, posters, knick knacks, and a very cool shelf full of lunch boxes from the 80's. I have made the mistake of visiting this business twice. Both times I was ignored, and when I finally got the staff persons attention, it was as if I had ruined their entire day by daring to ask them a question. Their negative attitude continued as I attempted to buy the item I asked a question about, as I was clearly not the "type" of person they enjoy "selling" to. In the end, I went elsewhere to buy and didn't give my money to Burbank Antiques. Judging by the scorn and derision they enjoy piling into their successful neighbors, my guess is that their little antique business is failing. People that are struggling often like to blame others for their failure rather than accept responsibility for it themselves. Before they spend any more time penning angry and inflammatory letters to various editors about their highly successful neighbors, maybe they should start figuring out how to be welcoming to their own customers and make an effort to save their dying business. read more

I've been in this store numerous times to check out their vinyl records. I honestly don't know why I keep coming back. To even get a response from someone working there or acknowledgement that you exist as a customer is minimal to none. Today, the lady working in the store could have given a shit that I was there. She wanted to read her book and acted annoyed that I had the audacity to come in and shop there. If you don't want to be in business close your store. Additionally, their vinyl selection is not organized at all and offers very little that someone would want to buy. The vinyl is overpriced for not so great condition stuff. $20 for a horrible condition Elvis Aloha Live album...Nah. No thank you. Nope. I won't be back. read more

The husband and wife owners were great. Extremely helpful and really nice. The shop has a really great selection and super cheap (I bought an old National Lampoon Gold Turkey record featuring the original Lampoon cast with Belushi, Ramis, Chase, Radner, etc. RARE FIND for $4!). The other items in the glass cases are pretty rare and the price listed is what you would expect for things that you won't be able to find anywhere else so easily. But outside of those cases are the more cheaper, but still awesome items that will catch your interest. Long story short, one of the best antique thrift shops you'll find for both affordable items and rarities. I'm definitely going back! read more

Burbank Antiques is one of the best places I've found in the valley for vintage toys. They have a fantastic selection and I've managed to find some very unique pieces for my collection. This is literally the only place I've ever found The Black Hole merchandise in the state of California. The layout is fantastic, I like being able to see every item and this store is perfectly arranged to do just that. Prices are about spot-on for what I see things going for online but shopping here I save on shipping. Plus there's nothing like being able to actually examine something before you buy it rather than trusting what pictures show you online. A truly excellent shop! read more

Burbank Antiques! What a fantastic family-owned shop. The owners have been in the antique business for decades. They really know their stuff. The store is located along a well-populated section of Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank (obviously)... just a couple blocks East of Hollywood Way. It's well-organized unlike many of the antique stores I have been in... I realize there is an appeal of digging through items like a treasure hunt, but, c'mon - isn't it better to be able to SEE everything! And, they have price tags and descriptions on all of the items. Thank goodness. Prices are very reasonable. Probably because the owners are educated as to what they sell. Speaking of what they sell.... here it goes: an amazing selection of lunch boxes (very cool!), jewelry (vintage, old/dead stock, sterling, gold filled/plated, even some fun costume), vinyl (45s and LPs - all in crates to easily flip through), vintage signs (on the walls), some furniture, comic book action figures (rare and hard to find), political buttons... so much more that I am forgetting... One wall is lined with display cases - so it's really easy to SEE the goods... and the other wall is lined with artwork and lunch boxes.... The use of space is fantastic. The owners are always helpful and available to answer questions. Highly recommend you pay them a visit. My last purchase was a very cool Sweetheart bracelet (expanding) from the 1940s. Excellent condition. I get a lot of compliments on it. Items tend to go pretty fast... every time I go in (monthly, when I get my pay check) - there is always a shift in merchandise.... Do you LOVE dachshunds? Then you will LOVE going into Burbank Antiques! I was strolling by the shop, and the glass display cases along that one wall really entices you to come in and have a look-see. I found myself reminiscing about my childhood as each item took me back- lunch boxes, games, toys, familiar knick-knacks,when I come across a small section that stopped me in my tracks. It was dedicated to Doxies! Not only were there the salt'n'pepper shaker doxies (albeit ones I hadn't seen before), but jewelry, and plush toys, and dishes, and unique things, like a metal doxie stamp dispenser (which is mine now). I have visited the shop on three different occasions and have purchased something every time. The owners, Ralph and Kim, are dachshund owners and totally understand the quest for "All Things Doxie". When I stumbled upon Burbank Antiques it was a more than pleasant surprise!!! I love browsing through antique stores and seeing all the wonderful history each has to offer, but this place carries all the things I REALLY, REALLY appreciate. Lots of old porcelain signs, motorcycle / car memorabilia, gumball machines, bicycle items and the like. As I read each sign on the wall I came across a set of 1951 license plates that stated they were clear for DMV registration. I inquired about them, as I had heard from many people that most are not clear for use. The owner guaranteed me that he had checked into their clearance status and that they would clear. He also said he would refund my money if they didn't. Sure enough, they cleared at the DMV and look spectacular on the vehicle!!! I have been back to this store numerous times now and am very impressed with their knowledge of each item...not to mention the friendly atmosphere. If you enjoy antique stores, this one should be at the top of your list. Each case is organized by 'type or genre of items' and is very well displayed. The store had items ranging from the early 1900's to the early 2000 from clothing, signs, records, lunch boxes to action figures and dolls plus more all in great shape with good pricing.
