If you are in the area, the Chippewa Inn is a MUST try! We have been vacationing in the area for decades and never tried until the last couple of years. Don't even think of ordering anything outside the German section of the menu. It's so authentic and the service is like nothing you'll get elsewhere. Classic cocktails, white tablecloth, relish tray, antique decorations. Because of the pandemic their space is limited due to shortage of staff at the moment. Be sure to call and make a reservation. :)

One of two areas to be seated for dinner.

It definitely has been around awhile. It reminds me of the old school supper clubs from my parent's era, complete with Sinatra in the background. But it is classy and a nice soft, smooth ambiance to it. You can relax and carry on a conversation. That being said; they can make a decent cocktail, and the spread is huge! There are crackers, and a relish tray to start you out. Then came a salad or soup with rolls. The entrees are big. The schnitzel was tender, lightly breaded, and flavored well. I missed out on the potato pancakes. We had a late reservation. For a Tuesday night, it was packed. The ribeye was 14oz of goodness. Tender and seasoned well, it couldn't be finished. We took a piece of cake to go. Supper club prices, but the quality is there. The waitress was hopping, and yet she kept the pace going. It's a good time. Everyone around us seemed like regulars. Lots of huge tables. Definitely a special night out kind of place. Try it.

Cozy little supper club nestled into the wilderness of the Chippewa Flowage. End of season was a perfect time to visit. When we arrived the bar was busier than the dining room so we had no problem getting a table. The traditonal menu has many steak and seafood entrees to choose from but we decided on the German fare. I ordered the Schnitzel ala Holstein with spaetzle and my boyfriend got the Kassler Ripchen also with spaetzle. There is a choice of soup or salad to start. Along with a relish tray and a bread basket. It's a standard fare of cheese spread, liver pate, radish, carrots and so on. Our food arrived perfectly prepared. I was impressed with the thin piece of veal before me that was crispy yet tender. The egg was perfectly sunny side up. I appreciated the detail of the capers and anchovies on a separate spoon to add if you like. The sample of Kassler Ripchen I tried was great. Smoked pork with nice grill marks to give it a little charred flavor. I would come back just for these items alone. Authentic "up north" hospitality was abundant in all of our interactions with the staff. My only regret, not having dessert. If you find yourself in the Hayward Lakes area, stop in for a drink and a schnitzel.

Excellent Jaeger Schnitzel: tender and crispy with a rich mushroom gravy and buttery spaetzel

Chippewa Inn is easily one of the best restaurants in Hayward. First off, the food is excellent. The ribeye, or any of their steaks for that matter, is great, as is the duck. Notable appetizers include clams, stuffed mushrooms, and escargot. Relish tray with tasty olives, peppers, port wine cheese spread, liverwurst, etc included. After all, it is a supper club. The German food is some of the best around: the Jaeger Schnitzel was the best schnitzel I have ever had, period. The staff is very attentive and accommodating as well as friendly. Has a nice Northwoods cottage atmosphere with tons of cool decorations including an old doll house that you just have to check out.

She always talked about it and would eat here any time she was back in the area. I hoped to visit with her someday. She was supposed to go in July 2025 with some family, but was sick and not able to make the trip from her home in KC. Unfortunately she recently passed away, and our family gathered in Wisconsin for her memorial service. Pine Ridge was so gracious and accommodating and opened early for about 30 of us to visit and have grandma's favorite fried fish experience after we had her service. It was unbelievably good, and I now know why grandma loved coming to Pine Ridge all those years. Nothing better than being with family enjoying amazing food. The staff was so kind and accommodating, the restaurant was beautiful, and none of us left hungry. Until next time!

I want to give a 4.5 to the restaurant, but we know Yelp doesn't work in half stars. I'm giving four stars because the restaurant is just under the 4.5 rating. The service we received throughout our visit was was good. The bartender (owner) poured good drinks and even told a couple jokes. Our waitress was on the money with our table and the tables around us. The drinks were good; however, seemed a little pricey compared to many other Wisconsin supper clubs. The bar area serves as the waiting area before entering the dining room. The food was very good. Three of the four in our group had the prime rib. Each had it cooked to a different level. Each said it was cooked perfectly. I had the big, cowboy ribeye. It was done as requested (medium rare), was tender and had very good flavor. There is no salad bar and unlike many other restaurants, soup and salad are options for your meal (two choices and a small basket of bread). I'd have liked to have the soup and salad automatically included. To me, potatoes and vegetables are options, not soup or salad. My French onion soup had a great rich broth; I'd have liked it to have more onions, croutons and cheese for substance. The salads were fresh but very pedestrian in appearance. I spoke to someone in the bar who is a regular. They said everything on the menu is good. I believe them. A few improvements and the place is a solid five star! Will we make the long drive back? You betcha!

My wife said her salmon was okay and nothing to write home about. Oh, the worse part...our drinks were empty when the food came and no refills, so we choked down our food with nothing to drink. For $90.00 we should have went elsewhere. We're pretty easy to please (see our other reviews) but this place was extremely disappointing.

I chose The Boulevard after looking at the reviews. But overall, it was a meh experience unfortunately. I got a reservation for our large family group, and our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Besides us there were just a few more parties dining in. But while we were seated quickly, out experience then went downhill. The biggest problem: We had to wait nearly 90 minutes to get our entrees. We had to ask a few times what the hold-up was, and the owner (I think) ended up providing free desserts for the table to compensate. This helped, but still ... 90 minutes. And our entrees were a bit hit or miss. I got the shrimp alfredo, which didn't have much flavor. A couple of our other entrees were cold. My husband's pork chop was delicious, though, he said. It overall felt like The Boulevard didn't know what it wanted to be -- either more high-end with its entrees and prices or casual. I would be interested in trying it again, but hopefully our dinner won't take as long as it did on our first visit.

Our table had a nice greeting card to make you feel welcome and appreciated, but it went down hill from there. We got our drinks quickly, placed our dinner orders-we both tried the "Nut Crusted Walleye, thinking we should try what you'd think was a Northern Wisconsin "specialty. Mind you, the price is $38 per dinner, so you'd expect the food quality to match the price-NO WAY. First-the owner misrepresents what comes out of his Kitchen by using Stock Photos you buy for advertising. I'll get back to the food quality in a bit. We got our salads quickly-probably because our Server plated them, but they came with our salad dressings in packets you get at places where the menu is behind a fast food service counter. Honestly, this is insulting, lazy and cheap for the cost. We then waited 25 minutes after the salads to get our Entree's. They were not busy, nor understaffed and we were the only seated table in the entire place, everyone else was at the bar and there we about 10 people who had already been there, so they hadn't ordered before us. At the 20-minute mark for getting our food, I asked our server about our meals, nicely, she proceeded to lie to us that our orders came in AFTER several others and it would be a few more minutes. When our food arrived, it was ALL beige, and the fish was obviously low-grade Walleye with fishy-tasting blood line inherent in low-grade product. The Lonesome Pine in Deerwood, MN has a $36.00 Walleye dinner to die for. The only thing good on the plate were the baked potatoes, which we smothered in butter and our second experience that night of "squeeze tube delivered" Sour Cream. In summary, I see the owner takes offense to criticism. He never said boo to us, but he looked over at us more than a few times as he and his pack of Bar regulars yakked and looked over their shoulders at the "strangers" in their watering hole. Just me and the Wife, looking for new places in the area we thought we'd try. We came with normal expectations, set by how the place is advertised, and it's nothing of the kind. People vote with their dollars. The owner should understand it makes no difference if the patrons aren't your long-time crew and you'd think that it would be a chance to get out from behind the bar, walk over to our table and just say "Thanks for coming in-we hope to see you again" Our bill was $110.00 BEFORE tip for a server who lied to us. She must be related to the owner.

The parking lot was packed, as was the bar and waiting area. Fortunately, we had called ahead and were immediately seated. On the way to our table, I noticed the generous salad bar. I was excited to give it a whirl. Our waitress was efficient, just not overly friendly or engaging. She dutifully took our drink orders and came back a short time later with our old fashioned drinks and a Tom Collins. The old fashioned were muddled, if that is a make-or-break for you. Everyone liked their drink. The menu was a solid supper club menu; a little something for everyone. Our party had two cod dinners, a walleye dinner and a ribs/chicken dinner. We then took a stroll to the salad bar. In addition to two soup (clam chowder, cheese) the actual salad portion offered a wide array of choices. It was very good. While dining, I also noticed it being frequently refreshed. Our meals came with good timing for the completion of our salads. Each of the fish dishes was well proportioned and was appropriately hot. Our ribs/chicken diner love their ribs. They waited an additional 25 minutes for their 1/4 chicken and said it wasn't worth the wait. Aside from the dining room being somewhat noisy, it was your standard northern Wisconsin supper club dining area. Overall, the service could have improved with a smile and a check on the need for a second round of drinks. I eventually requested a redo of water and did get a full pitcher in return. The price was reasonable, the food was good. Would I return in the future? Definitely.

I visited with a party of 5 midweek so they weren't especially busy, Drinks - a well chosen, decently priced selection of beer and wine as well as a full bar. Apps - here's where it started to go downhill. The first two items (from a choice of maybe 8) were unavailable. Not really acceptable given that they update their menu regularly. We settled on a chipotle goat cheese terrine which was good, when it arrived....about 30 minutes later. First - two people ordered the chicken wild rice soup which was never delivered. Hubs agreed to take his because he was still hungry (see entrees below) and they kindly comped it for the error. However, the soup was delivered just warm and kind of had a funny taste (to me, it was almost an iodine shellfish undertone). Entrees - two of us ordered risotto, 2 had pasta and one person had pork loin. The pork loin was the best of the lot. The pasta was ehhhhh....just ok. My risotto was actually very good but hubs was irritated that his contained just 2 small scallops on his - a ripoff at $24. Service - pleasant but absent. Even though there were just a few other tables and other servers present our server was MIA most of the meal. We had long empty glasses, long delays and missed courses. Not acceptable in a place of this caliber. Bottom line - when I'm paying a premium price I expect service and quality to match and it didn't happen for my group. Meh.

The menu sounds wonderful; duck dishes, bison burgers and filets...sounds great, right? Well, it is not. Beware, do not waste your time. In remote locations like Cable, Wisconsin, one must look at the "review dates" on yelp and trip advisor, etc. as wait staff, cooks and owners frequently change hands so unless it is a super recent review, it probably does not match the current state of affairs. I called at 7pm on a Thursday, I asked for an 8pm reservation and was told I need to be there by 7:45, I said OK and my husband and I hustled to get ready and be there by 7:45pm. We walked in at 7:41pm and were seated. We ordered drinks and food, our drinks came and then all we did is WAIT. Bread came out and it was terrible, seemed it was 3 days old and just not good so we did not eat but one small piece each. The place is not large so we could hear other tables complaining to the waitresses about the timing of the food coming out of the kitchen. The waitress for one table compensated all their drinks as the wait was so long and the food did not come out together. The waitresses were talking about their "chef", well he was not a chef but a very low level cook at best. Since the restaurant is in a basement like atmosphere (the art work is very nice) there aren't any windows to see outdoors. At one point our waitress brought us a large salad and soup, which we did not order. She was amazed we did not order it. She may have had 3 tables total so to not know we did not order this and to seem so surprised was odd. My husband ordered another beer which took 20 minutes for her to bring to him. Then, our waitress brought us 2 more salads, which we did NOT order. hahaha. It seems so funny now but at the time I thought she must be off her rocker to not have a clue on who ordered what, I mean she only had 3 tables! by 8:45pm my husband asked how much longer and we were told 5 minutes. Then, at 9:15 she brought out some food for us. I ordered bison, and it was supposed to come with carrots and potatoes. Well, something red and runny was on my plate, I have no idea what it was and the yellow glob was not potatoes but something else, I do not recall what she called it, looked like smashed macaroni and cheese. The waitress said they were out of potatoes and carrots. My husband's duck drowned! haha It was a large brown mess of gravy and sauce. Oh, and another couple that were seated after us did get their food after an hour wait and said it tasted terrible. You could also hear the cook and the waitresses yelling in the kitchen area, then the cook came charging out into the dining area and sat at the bar talking to some woman. The few tables that were not being used still had all the dirty dishes on them and no one cleaned them up. So the story ends, we walked out.... WArning, do not even attempt to eat here, nothing good to say about it. nothing.... Visited August 2016
