They literally have the nicest staff and the best Mexican food. I live in NJ and don't eat Mexican unless I'm in Hayward.

Yummy yummy tacos! Although the menu offers a wide selection of Tex Mex style food, given the name I had to try the tacos. The fish tacos were amazing! GRilled not fried and perfectly seasoned. The black bean avocado were a bit ho hum but the cactus paddle were also tasty. The MIchaelada (beer with tomato juice and spices) was excellent though The margaritas were a bit sweets THe staff was attentive and service was quick. I'm more of a fan of chicken as a filling and tacos and I like a lot of spice if there's not a lot of spice I like there to be a lot of flavor and flare of other things like minty lemon things or limey salty things. You're able to get both the flavor and flare in the style that you want as well as spice if you needed great place to get a good taco. read more

Tasty food! The chicken tacos were so tasty, the chicken was in small pieces, not shredded, rightly spiced and not dry at all. A sprinkling of cilantro and diced onion. The small shrimp burrito was delicious too,, grilled (not fried!) shrimp, beans, rice rolled in a flour tortilla. The small was more than enough for me. A longish line of customers but moved quickly. Their fruit drinks looked refreshing. We would absolutely eat here again. read more

I've been told by numerous people that this place is good but this was my first time actually coming in. It was busy, but our food came out before we were even settled at the table. My young children had the kids tacos and had plenty of food to spare. The staff were delightful! The gentleman who brought our my food went back for the silverware we forgot. And brought two spoons for the kids and a fork for myself. You could tell he put thought & effort into even delivering silverware. They have certificates from local organizations they support and are clearly an assets to the Hayward Community. The food was exactly what I wanted. No complaints just praise! I never went into the restaurant, our group sat outside at the outdoor seating. It was pretty cool to see the owner of the restaurant we visited last night drive by and wave to us. Shout out to Hayward, WI! Loved the scripture right on their printed menus. Now, the cost per item may have been visible inside the restaurant but they are not listed in the printed menus. The service was excellent, it's a family owned place that brings a family atmosphere. The chips were on point and the salsa was so good, the right amount of kick but not spicy. Chips were flavorful and not stale, salted just right! I was going to select the tomatillo enchiladas but I went with the three taco combo. Chose chorizo, pescado and asada. Food is better than average. Fast and efficient service; friendly staff. Traditional Mexican menu, prepared well. Atmosphere and ambience are bad. You really barely even feel you are in a restaursnt, because the seating is awkward and uncomfortable. Feels more like a carry out joint; where you just pick up your order and go. Main Street tacos in a true treat! I am so glad they offer contactless pick up so I can continue enjoying this Hayward gem! I cannot speak to the dining experience, as I have only picked up food, but the staff is consistently friendly and helpful while ordering over the phone. They take phone order and also online orders. Make sure and start your meal off right with chips, queso, salsa, and guac. The queso is perfect and the guac is fresh and has so much flavor! I have ordered the carne asada burrito (definitely add fajita veggies) and the pastor fiesta salad bowl. Both have been great! Tortillas are fresh and the meat is cooked well. Grabbed 2 tacos to go. Chicken and carnitas. Chicken was good but very salty. The carnitas taco was excellent. Tender pork. Both came with cilantro and plenty of onion, I like that. Got the hot salsa, which was green. It had a little heat, not much fire but it was still good. I'd consider this chiefly a carryout, the inside seating is like a Burger King or similar. I was checking in to a local hotel a couple of weeks ago when I saw a delivery guy dropping food off for the girl working at the front desk. Since there was no name on the vehicle, the drivers coat or the bag he left I asked her where it was from. She told me Main Street Tacos. She said I could order online & suggested the burrito. After getting settled into my room, I looked them up and found a nice variety of choices. When I saw the taco combo I knew what I was getting. I went with the shrimp tacos. Ohhhhh so good. Each of the three tacos was overflowing with grilled shrimp, onion, cilantro & a lime wedge. Plus the combo gets rice and refried beans. All very good. I found myself back in Hayward on a Sunday. I saw the same front desk clerk and told her it was a great suggestion and asked if they were open. Unfortunately they are not open on Sunday so I had to wait until Monday to order again. This time I opted for the burrito, chips & salsa and a coke. The burrito is HUGE!!! I went with chicken as the protein and it had lettuce, tomato, sour cream, cheese, avocado, rice & beans. I stopped here on a summer road tripfrom the Twin Cities to the UP, I had never been to Hayward before and was looking for some good food and decided to stop here. I ordered a burrito to go and it was HUGE, seriously I got two meals out of it. It was also very good. I was initially wary of Mexican food in the middle of Wisconsin, but this place is fantastic. I even texted some friends I know who were looking at buying a cabin in the area to make sure they check this place out. While I don't think I'll be back in the area anytime soon, I'd tell anyone headed to Hayward to go here for a great meal. read more

I really like Main Street Tacos and, judging by the lines, so does everybody else in Hayward! We actually managed to slip our order in during a lull in business, but even as we were paying a line formed almost to the door. The cashier/server was really friendly and offered some good suggestions, and there was lots of available outdoor seating. I feel bad about this because I want to lolike this place. We have, however, found regular inconveniences with the quality and flavors. For instance, on one occasion the food was so over salted it was inedible. Unfortunately, we had ordered for pick up and it wasn't until we were home when we discovered. Walked in on a Friday evening and placed our orders. We then walked outside to choose a table and the server was literally on our heels with our food! Mama's Green Enchiladas and a Steak Burrito. The burrito was at least 3x bigger than a Chipotle burrito. Two minutes later, the manager asked if everything was as ordered. "YES!" Told a friend about this place he said BS. We took him there on Saturday and proved it to him. My friends had the burritos. I had guac (at least a full cup instead of the little plastic container you get at other restaurants) and more homemade tortilla chips than I could eat. Many other menu items that I plan to try in the future. I can't say that it was authentic Mexican because I'm not Mexican. But it is definitely quality along with excellent service. And they serve Margaritas! Food is not spicy (hey it's WI), but you can order spicey or select from many hot sauces. This place isn't fancy and it can get crowded, but they do have an on-line order ahead menu. read more

We picked this place because of the reviews and they didn't disappoint. Had 4 different kinds of tacos and they were all great. But I likes the steak the best. We recently traveled to Hayward and based on the yelp views decided to eat here. The food itself was too bad, though very greasy. However, the cleanliness of the place was lacking. It may have just been busy, but the tables were not cleaned, the waiting area smelled and flies were every where....would not recommend. read more
