Small but eclectic food, bottled beer, and wine selections. We opted for an artichoke and crab dip…read moreentree, an ahi tuna salad served in avocado, and an Asian pear mixed green salad. Threw in a ginger beer, crisp apple cider, and a blonde ale (IPA). Nice quick service - very small inside seating and a bit bigger patio with some shaded space under an arbor. Drink arrived fast although the cider and ginger should have been iced. Food a bit slower. Took about 15 for app to appear - warm pita. Very good (in spite of artificial crab) and well worth the $7 price. Could use another couple pieces of pita...not even an entire round and gone before the dip was. The Asian salad ($12) rocked - like a little nori (seaweed) taco with romaine, cucumber, pear, bamboo shoots, chicken, and a sesame dressing. Two of the three of us liked it. The ahi tuna salad ($12) dish came with an overabundance of warm pita...the salad on avocado was tasty but smaller so probably not a dish to share... but very tasty. All in all high praise for the atypical choices. Part of a bigger complex that includes a leather moccasin shop on the main level and a sweet little wine shop in the basement - a bit over-priced down there but we are on Main Street among the tourists. Rating a 3 - it was good - a leisurely lunch - but next time we'll check other options too. That said it's worth your time to give it a try!

This is under new management, and about 25 of us came for lunch. We had reservations and they…read moreexplained it was a new venture for them. We waited one hour before we were served. We were offered no explanation. I had the caprese salad, romaine lettuce, 2 small grape tomatoes, and a side of about 2 tablespoons vinaigrette. No olives to be seen, and a piece of white something. I asked the waitress and she took it back and returned the salad minus the white something ( a piece of processed chicken) and 5 black olives thrown on the side. No bread, or roll, with this $7.00. They did offer us for a total of $10.00 a wine sample which was cool and nice and a dessert. I did not wait for the dessert, because it took so long to get the food. Our group was the only ones in the restaurant. Hayward is full of great places to eat, and this restaurant has a far way to go. Hopefully they will get there fast.

I ran up to Hayward for the day Wednesday, arriving @ The Angry Minnow @ 11a open. It was a…read moreperfect weather day for this cute brewery w their big garage door open. I was cheerily greeted @ my 390th brewery by friendly April! We discussed the tap list and I began mentally building a flight. Decided to forego a $16 six pour flight for buying some tasters individually & just diving right in to a few goblet pours. Angry Minnow did not disappoint. This may be brewer Jason's first brewery gig since his Great Dane apprenticeship but...he is Dialed In! I told April and Taryn "each beer just keeps getting better!" There were three IPA's on tap and they said the Citra was the least piny/bitter, so I went w a sample of that. So well balanced, delicious. The Hazy was no slouch. zi started my beery voyage w a McStukie's Scotch Ale. I then moved around to a Tequila Saison Chardonnay Blonde Oakys Oatmeal Stout & a 9-Toe Doppelbock before wrapping up with a 5oz pour of Hazy. I was so busy chatting up customers and Taryn I completely forgot to ask about how the beers got their names? I guess a job for my second visit..... I love the brick walled tap room, the spacious tables and the variety of merch. Free street parking is easy. I opted not to eat but the small menu looked to quench any palate and it was good offerings, not just a burger or side salad. It's no wonder The Angry Minnow has been around since 2004!! They have all the offerings, including knowledgeable and friendly staff to slang it all. Thanks Angry Minnow for a fantastically delicious Wednesday morning stop. I don't make it to Hayward often but when I do...you will definitely be a stop! Cheers!

NIce little brewery on Mainstreet Hayward. Open and airy, it is a nice place to hang out post…read moreride. I enjoyed all the beers I sampled, particularly the Scottish Ale and the Saison. Both excellent examples of those styles. The biggest disappointment was that there was NO FOOD available despite a sign outside that said small plates. It may have been just that weekend but they really need something to balance the alcohol, even if it is just packaged pretzels or chip.
