I do love this place...the convenient location, the good quality of food, well rounded lunch menu, French decor...all are great. But my goodness, the service (the last 3 times) has repeatedly been on the less than attentive side. They're all very nice but it's uncomfortable to have to constantly flag someone down for any request. I'm hopeful they will invest in staff training and more chefs in the kitchen to make this a 5 star experience. read more

I absolutely love this restaurant but this particular location has LONG wait times consistently. On this most recent visit we ordered ahead of time because we know they take long. They told us it would be ready in about 15 min. We arrived 20 min later and had to wait 10 min in line before letting then know we were there to pick up our order. Once we got to the cash register the lady told us it still wasn't ready and asked us tilo wait aside. Another 10 min later we checked in to see how much longer and were told that our order got mixed up but it would be out in 3 minutes. It was not. By this point 45 min of hour long break had been wasted. We finally got our order after 50 min of ordering. The worst part is the staff didn't really seem to care much. read more

Such a cute place in Pinecrest! The service was great and we didn't need to make a reservation or wait for a table on a Friday night. My mom and I had the cheese fondue for 2 Groupon deal which came with two glasses of wine as well. So worth it! The fondue was delicious and we ordered prosciutto and Serrano ham on the side. All in all, very yummy and the prices aren't bad at all. The quality is soooooo much better than other fondue places in the area and with great prices. The food is 5 stars, as I have never eaten anything less than fresh and delicious soups, sandwiches, and cheese platters. The service, sadly, has gone down in the last year or so. The last 3 times I have visited no one has answered the phone to take an order, I have waited 25 minutes to pick up to-go orders with little to no other customers waiting, and during my most recent visit the cashier kept asking her co-workers to take my order (while SHE stood behind the register) and did not even acknowledge my presence to tell me someone else would help me. The worst experience ever. Our office ordered lunch and only partial order was delivered. We contacted the restaurant and spoke to Lissette who would neither put us in contact with the manager nor would she resolve the issue of sending us what we paid for. She also refused to refund us for the food they failed to deliver. Corporate needs to educate the staff that when a customer calls with a valid complaint they need to either resolve the matter or at the very least have the manager contact the client for a resolution. I don't know how if I came in on a good day but to me the customer service was great. My wife and I were walking down the strip and stumbled on this place when the spot we wanted to go to was full and about to close. We walked in and were greeted and said we had never been here before and wanted to look at the menu. One of the waiters came out and was more than happy to talk about the menu and all of their offerings. He went over the menu with my wife (who usually has a millions questions) and went over all of her questions. We decided to eat here and found out that we were in for a real treat. We all enjoyed our meals. My wife have their prosciutto sandwich, I had their pizza, which I found to be very good, and my daughter had their 4 cheese Mac and cheese. We all enjoyed our meals, it had great flavor. We also saved room for dessert and had the s'more brownie.... wow. Get it if you have the chance, there is plenty given to share. I have been waiting and waiting for a Cheese Course location down south, and am thrilled to report the Pinecrest location is open for business! They only recently opened and on my visit this past Friday they had not yet obtained their liquor license. I inquired and they confirmed that until they have their license you can BYOW to enjoy. I agree with Patrick, it's too bad they couldn't find a location with a patio. They have made the inside spacious and less crowded than some of the other locations. I love the big wood farm house table in the front of the restaurant. The sandwiches and salads seem to be a mirror image of the other locations. I tried the American Greens salad with grilled chicken on my visit and it was delicious and fresh. I love to order a sandwich and add a salad, then split the dish with a friend. I am also working my way through the cheese courses, if only there were more hours in the day. They had a few samples out to try that day and many gourmet cheeses for sale. I saw an employee making a gorgeous cheese tray platter "to go", I can ensure you your guests will be impressed if you serve one at your next party. They have sandwiches, salads, wine by the glass, and individual cheese platters, as well as any cheese you can imagine sold by the lb. They had Midnight Moon and Fromager d'Affinois at OK prices. ( I expected it to be extremely pricey compared to Whole Foods and other specialty markets, but it was more or less the same) The food itself though, I did found to be on the expensive side, but worth every penny!! Three sandwiches and three drinks close to $40, approximately. We had the grilled chicken sandwich with fontina and a pesto spread, prosciutto de parma sandwich w Gouda instead of mozzarella, the cheese melt ( the BEST cheddar grilled cheese sandwich ever, but we took some ingredients out because it was for our 3 yr old), the french field greens salad w goat cheese, and the broccoli and cheddar soup. Anyways, when you first walk in the menu is on the right along where you take your order. I walked to the cheese display and thought I order there. But the cashier is friendly and helps you if you never been here before or need some advice. I ordered a cheese platter from Italy along with the house merlot wine. The hubby ordered a asiago and fontina grilled cheese sandwich. OMG was everything on point. My intent was to order the caprese sandwich or the procuitto sandwich but I thought ordering a cheese platter would be good enough. It was enough to fill me up with some left overs. This location is slightly smaller than the midtown local and the there's no side garden but the service more than makes up for it. The staff is SUPER helpful!! In my attempt to keep my fat girl inside, where she belongs and shall forever remain, I try to eat super duper healthy on weekdays. I avoid fats, meats, sweets, booze - basically all things delicious. So, come the weekend, the fat girl inside takes over and the girl on the outside lets loose. Enter The Cheese Course - the deprived fat girl inside's paradise. Cheese, carbs, sweetness - oh joy. I visited the Midtown location several months ago and wasn't impressed, however, this visit was pretty epic. Maybe it's the fact I havent indulged in a piece of creamy brie in many moons or that I was so happy hubby was actually in the mood to visit a place with "cheese" in the name, but something about this visit was magical. The place is adorable - way cuter and roomier than the Midtown spot. The only thing they lack is outside seating, but that's OK since Miami allows comfortable weather for outside seating for 2 weeks out of the year. Also, the staff in this location is much friendlier. I asked a lady about a certain cheese which looked really interesting and called my attention and she promptly offered me a tasting. After falling in love with this mystery cheese I asked about the name and she wasn't sure, so she asked another gentleman who didn't know either but made it his mission to find out. He made a few calls and upon getting his answer he printed me a label with all the 411. That was awesome. Hubby ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast, which comes warm and dressed up with Fontina, tomatoes, basil pesto, roasted red onions, rosemary aioli, and greens. He fell in love at first bite - I bit too, it was really good. Our only complaint is the "chicken" itself.. it wasn't grilled or fresh, or maybe even chicken at all. It reminded us of chicken from Subway, which we all know isn't chicken. Besides that minor detail it was very good. I was craving brie and had the same thing I had last time - The Black Forest Ham with Brie, raspberry cranberry relish, and greens. Minus the greens. My sandwich was perfect - next time I will ask for it warm since brie is always better when it's alittle melted. We also ordered a ham & cheese quiche, which was very rich and a little salty but very tasty. Unfortunately they are still pending their wine license so they weren't able to offer us any vino but they were kind enough to give us 2 vouchers for complimentary wine for our next visit. So, after many attempts of trying to get somebody to accompany me here to The Cheese Course, I FINALLY convinced a friend of mine to have lunch here! That was a couple months ago. Today, after raving about how great my first visit was, I managed to persuade my boyfriend to take me here for lunch. We arrived around 3:30 in the afternoon, an off-hour, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We each ordered a "Perfect Pairing" which is "Pick any Half Sandwich with your choice of any Cup of Soup" OR "Pick any Half Salad with your choice of any Cup of Soup." We both chose the sandwich option. You can choose either a "Cold Sandwich" of which they offer 7 varieties, OR a "Warm Sandwich" of which they have 5 to choose from. There are 4 creamy flavors of soup to choose from. (By the way, they have 9 different salads on the menu. NEXT TIME!) My boyfriend ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast sandwich (warm) with Mushroom & Brie Bisque, and I ordered the Applewood Bacon sandwich (warm) with the Tomato Bisque. The soups are decoratively drizzled with Crème Fraîche. Since this is a French inspired place, they appropriately use French Baguette for the sandwiches; choose either White or Whole Wheat. Now, before I get into the "meat" of this review (no pun intended), I must point out that my boyfriend is downright difficult to please, and if one little thing goes wrong, he's quick to mutter, "This place has seen the last of me." So ... with that being said ... my boyfriend liked it!! HE REALLY LIKED IT!! And, coming from HIM, that means A LOT!! As we waited for our meals to be prepared, we sampled some Swiss cheese and some sweet fig spread on little slices of French bread. With French music playing in the background, I mentioned that this would be a great place to come in the evening for a Wine & Cheese tasting (Hint-hint!) ALL of the sandwiches, salads, AND soups incorporate some form of cheese in their recipe ... quite apropos for a place called The CHEESE Course! My boyfriend's grilled chicken sandwich had Fontina, a semi-soft cheese with an intense flavor, made from the milk of cows from the region of the Italian Alps. My sandwich (applewood bacon) was blessed with Goat Gouda, a semi-hard cheese made from, you-guessed-it, Goat's milk, made right here in the good ol' USA! I L-O-V-E Goat cheese! I also love bacon! Bacon + Goat cheese = Heaven! Rosemary aioli (garlic/olive oil mayonnaise) was used to moisten and season both our sandwiches, and I believe that it is this ingredient which is responsible for the subtle flavor which lingers in your taste buds for hours afterward. Also ... the sandwiches and soups taste really fresh! Really! Although we finished our lunch over 4 hours ago, I STILL have that really good FRESH aftertaste in my mouth!! YUM! It's like I don't want to eat anything else for the rest of the day because I don't want to lose that really good feeling in my mouth (and in my tummy!) As for the prices ... the "Perfect Pairings" cost $9.99. (Add $1.00 for Premium Pairings: Prosciutto, Spanish Serrano Ham, Scottish Smoked Salmon, and Classic Greek selections.) By the way, this is not a sit-down restaurant; there is no table service. You order and pay at the counter, then the food is brought out to you. There are no waiters or waitresses per se. Lastly, I was a bit surprised to learn that The Cheese Course is a franchise! I've stopped by this shopping center many times and every time I walk by, this place is PACKED! So, of course, I was intrigued and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So let's start off with the pros: - Great location in the heart of Pinecrest (right next to Whole Foods) - Plenty of parking - Nice display from the outside - GREAT service, especially from Josh - he was a mix of bus boy/waiter - Lots of wine and cheese options - Easy menu available on the wall or smaller ones at the register - GLUTEN FREE BAGUETTES available that aren't hard as wood - Fruit chutney is SO Delish!! - Overall the food was fresh and tasty! :) A few things that they should work on: - Location of the register; I'm not sure if they recently changed bc there's a sign on the back wall to order but then you have to go to the right corner of the displays in the middle. CONFUSING! - The tea was flavored but it doesn't say anything but lemon (it was more like a raspberry flavored tea) - The location of the tables to the left are weird since we see the back of the display area, the kitchen, AND an area that they use on the product shelves just for the cleaning supplies Overall, it was a great experience but I think there's a better use of the space and making it less confusing for people. Wine and cheese? What's not to love?! So, a group of three of us went as a ladies night, it was our first time there though we had heard good reviews. All I can say is it was underwhelming. The three of us decided on sandwich and soup combos, getting the Brie sandwiches and broccoli and cheese soups. They were great, the soup was very good! We got there later in the evening, so that was the only soup available, and we were not disappointed. Then the young girl recommended a wine and cheese plate for $30, the plate contained an assortment of five different cheeses, and we would get a bottle of wine. Apparently, after we paid, we were told the wine had to be either a merlot or a carbernet. We chose a merlot, and it was the most god awful wine I think I have ever had ( and I have had trader joes two buck chuck)! The cheese was OK, and odd mish mosh of cheese where nothing really went together. The girls working there were very friendly and accomadating. The young girl that rang us up and brought out our dishes seemed very lost, didn't know what the cheeses were that she was serving us, didn't tell us about the wine restriction. However I do not want to bad mouth her, as she seemed new and thusly out of her depth. I MAY try this place, but if I do, I will choose the cheeses and wine, clearly their platters are not very well though out. After wanting to try this place for months, finally stopped by with a friend. We will definitely be back! We came on a Friday night around 8pm. Parking was open, and the place wasn't too busy. The employee was helpful in explaining the menu options to us, and helping us choose cheese and accompaniments. We tried a great cheese I can't recall the name of, but it was soft and garlicky, and the caramelized walnuts were tasty. We each tried a soup/sandwich combo- the asiago soup was very good, as was the mushroom option. The caprese sandwich was good, and the black forest ham was great though it could've used a little more raspberry/cranberry relish. There was also a decent wine and beer selection, and the drink options are well-priced. The only downside I found was rather small tables and uncomfortable seats at the small tables- we'll sit at a bigger, more comfortable table next time! So happy there is a Cheese Course in Pinecrest. While it does not have the same charm and ambiance as the location in Midtown, this location is very nice. I really liked the decor and look/feel. It is cozy; a great place for lunch or dinner. We visited for lunch, shared a grilled vegetable and the serrano/manchego sandwiches on wheat baguette. The former is served toasted, which I LOVE. The later is at room temp. Next time I'll ask if it can be warmed up. That would be great! Both sandwiches are handmade to order and filled/packed with goodies (zucchini, onions, tomatoes/serrano, manchego, sundried tomatoes pesto and olive tapenade). I found the meal very satisfying. PS: the soft-rind cheese tasting station is amazing. The cheese was incredibly delicious, with mild/tangy flavor. J'aime le fromage! read more

I was walking around Midtown with a friend and I was SO hungry that I said we would eat at the next place we walked past. Thank GOD it was The Cheese Course. This location didn't let me down either. I took my boyfriend here on a relaxing Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. The place only had a few other people in it, so it was quiet and calm. I had a brie grilled cheese and decided to add lettuce and tomato to try something new and it was amazing! I also ordered the tomato soup, I love me some tomato soup. I devoured the soup, wishing my bowl was 10x bigger cause it was so damn good. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his sandwich and was glad I had taken him there for lunch. Every time I eat here I feel like I am being transported to a little cheese shop in France. Although small and sometimes parking is difficult, it is worth it. I am choosing to write a review now because just last week I discovered that on Thursday nights they do an amazing extended happy hour- $3 beers and wine glasses and $9 house wine bottles. Paired with a great little sandwich or a cheese board it is the perfect after work spot. I also have done catering from here for my sister's bridal shower. This is one of my favorite local lunch spots. You can get fresh delicious sandwiches hot or cold. You can also get homemade style soups - my favorite is the mushroom brie. Recently I just shared with two of my girlfriends the most delicious fondue! The fondue is new and you can do it with meats cheeses and vegetables or you can do the most incredibly delicious desert fondue- which has pound cake, grapes, strawberries, apples, marshmallows, etc. They do have a beer and wine selection, although I would like to see them up there game in that area.
