All I wanted on Mother's Day were crepes from my favorite French bistro LE CREPE BISTRO South Miami, which I frequent often. 3 of us showed up at 9 am, just as they opened they sat us at a 4 top table. The waitress took our order which consisted of 2 meals, a side of bacon & 2 coffees. My dad only wanted bacon and coffee and my husband and I ordered the meals. Next thing I know the owner comes out & rudely insists we move to a 2 top table which I was confused about and not sure why, but was happy to accommodate. Then he has a conversation with the waitress and comes up to me visibly upset saying "you only ordered 1 meal" and that I can not do that on a busy day I said I ordered more than 1 meal and was shocked as we were the only people there at the restaurant. If they would have simply brought us our food we would have been finished by 9:30am before anyone else showed up. The owner was SO rude that I got so upset so I got up and left. My husband was walking the dog and when he came back to the outside table the owner said I was upset I told my husband to come to the car and we left. When I think back to a trip to Paris, one of the things I miss was an authentic creperie. Not just those crepes with Nutella you can get at the fair (though they have those too and they're far better than the fair variety). I'm talking savory crepes with buckwheat and great fillings. Have you ever had a chicken Caesar crepe? This one was great. Fresh ingredients. They had lots more French food on the menu too which we enjoyed. Topped it off with a nice iced latte. I highly recommend this authentic French Café! The croissants are the right amount of buttery & flaky with the perfect little touch of powdered sugar hitting your tongue. We were 6 & they were packed so we did have to sit separate but it was no biggie especially because our wait time did go down from an hour plus to 30 minutes. This is my grandmas favorite French bistro so I took her here for lunch. I had never been because they close early or I come when they're on vacation. We ordered two omelettes and it came with fruit, bread, and jam. I love a good omelette and that's exactly what they served. It wasn't too over cooked and it was lightly buttered (perfection). First time I went there, it was closed. This time it's open. Ordered five crepes: crepe marine, crepe vegetarian, crepe parisiennne, crepe fromager and crepe yummy yummy. Crepe yummy yummy is too sweet for my liking. Disappointed with crepe Parisienne and crepe fromager. They are similar. Can't tell the difference between them. I ordered a tuna sandwich. The tuna and the bread were hot. It wasn't what I was expecting. This is my second time in this place. The food is okay, nothing great. The service was very poor. I asked if I could get something different instead of hot tuna and the server told me I have to pay another sandwich and started to get an attitude telling me that is the way tuna sándwiches are.... On Saturday, January 21, my husband, my 1 year-old son and I visited La Crepe Bistro for breakfast. What we thought would be a wonderful experience became one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. To give some context, my son was born 4 months premature, and was intubated for a long time. Because of that he has a sensitive gag reflex. We have had experiences in the past where, if something "goes down the wrong pipe" he gags and vomits. You might know where this is going. As he ate the fruit parfait at La Crepe, tragedy struck. Either a piece of granola or a banana must have gone too far back and my son began to gag. An incredibly kind gentleman sitting at the table next to us immediately got up to see if he was choking and if he could help. What came after was a vomit, and the usual anxiety and overwhelm that comes from a parent who has experienced this before. While this has not happened often recently, I can tell you that every single other time that it has happened, the restaurant we have been at has immediately sprung to action-- to help clean up, or offer a rag or even to offer a napkin, to check in on us and see if everyone is OK. That was NOT the case at this restaurant. From that moment on, we were treated like a nuisance, like pariahs. As we cleaned up our son, the table, his chair, his bib, we were ignored. Nobody from the restaurant offered us an ounce of help or even checked on us for that matter. It went from bad to worse as my husband walked inside to rinse off my sons bib in the bathroom. He was stopped by a woman (the female owner?) before he could enter and told "not to walk in with THAT" (referring to anything that had vomit on it). He was asked to walk back out and figure out how to clean it elsewhere. As we cleaned the table, not one person came with a mere rag to help things along. When I finished wiping down the table, I walked inside to ask for a bad or to help me throw away the pile of napkins I had (napkins that I had gotten from the entrance area and from our neighboring table who offered to help). Just like my husband, I was immediately stopped at the door (this time by the male owner) who very aggressively asked "What is THAT?!". He refused to let me inside the door and asked me to walk to the end of the strip mall to dispose of it at another garbage can. I truly felt like just throwing the pile of napkins on his floor and walking away crying but I instead did as he asked. You'd think it wouldn't get worse, but it did. I asked for the check and, for the first time since the incident, the owner approached the table-- not to ask if we were ok, but to toss napkins at me and demand that I "clean the floor". At this point, I was indignant. I heard someone from a nearby table say "that is ridiculous " and that gave me the fuel I needed to stand up and say "no". I tried to explain to the owner how disrespectful he was and how he could have taken a moment of anxiety for parents and made it much better with some help, some rags or even a kind word. Instead he made us feel like we were criminals for having a baby that does something as HORRENDOUS as throw up. He could have shown an ounce of empathy and instead he chose antipathy and venom. To top it off, when I was handed the machine to pay, a tip had already been selected for me and the screen was on the signature page. I canceled the transaction, which infuriated the owner. After that action and my words, the owner was irate. He called me every name under the sun and I did my best not to cry and kept emphasizing how he could have just shown an ounce of empathy. He was so bothered by my words that he screamed "Leave and never come again" among other "friendly" phrases. I will never visit that place again, and, if you have children, or anyoneee who might mistakenly make a mess, I'd advise that you rethink visiting this establishment as well. read more

Within 2 minutes of our brief conversation a 4 spot table with three get up and leave. Owner then says next table for two is yours . Still nobody else waiting for a table. Walks away from us leaves us standing there with a clean table and nobody there i gesture over to him if we can sit and he ignored me. If it were a reservation issue a simple explanation of that would have sufficed but he was super arrogant. Rather than lose my temper I just walked away. Came to meet a work colleague for a coffee and the owner, extremely rudely told us that it was a "restaurant" and we need to order food or take our coffe to-go. He continued on loudly and rudely for several mintues and told us to order or pay the check and waited staring while we finished our coffees. It was so shocking. The side salad was good, and the smoked salmon combined with the crepe and capers was delicious! The portion didn't really fill me up too much but the prices are very good. Very tasty and with lots of Bechamel sauce (unlike other places where you have to request it!). I tried from my siblings' plates. They ordered different types of crepes and it was not disappointing at all. The sweet crepes are also divine, although I would've like more fruits in the banana-strawberry-Nutella crepe. Onion soup, one of the best I've tried, and what's even better, IT IS NOT SALTY! It is perfectly balanced and with a very rich flavor! They can work a little more in the decor. Somehow this tiny strip of shops along Red Road is a little Paris, with a French bakery, French bistro and French restaurant! This place does make you feel like you were in Paris. The service is pleasant, and everybody in there from cook to waitress/owner speaks French. The quiche is the fluffiest we've ever tried. Soup was delicious too, buttery but not overly rich. I like my crepe too, though the tomato in it makes it soggy. My crepe looks a shade darker than usual, as it is made with whole wheat. The owner explains that it is organic whole wheat. They get daily delivery from Redlands for their produce, and sometimes have to change their menu bases on availability. No wonder the strawberries and tomatoes are so flavorful. Places like this supporting local and organic products definitely deserves our business!! They close early on weekdays but are open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday.
