Went here for lunch last Friday, walked in and was greeted by a friendly worker who asked me if I had any questions. I ended up ordering a cheeseburger and fries combo. After I paid I sat down and watched a repeat of the Thursday night football game and before Carolina lost again, I was brought my meal, which was very good by the way, and some catsup and ranch condiments. The guy was friendly, as we chatted up the football game, he let me know he was a diehard 49ers fan which if you know can be hard to admit sometimes, but since I'm a fan too, I knew I was in the right place. All kidding aside, The Central Grill is a great place for a meal, the place was clean, the food was good and the staff friendly. Go get you some. read more

I'd probably get curly fries with it instead next time. Tartar was tasty. -Burger was great and HUGE. If you don't like well done burgers, I'd ask for a little less cook though. -BBQ tri-tip was delicious, as well as all of the sides...especially the potato salad (that was probably my favorite part!). Beans were full of ground beef and super flavorful. Tons of beers in bottles and on tap, quite a few tv's, games for kids & great space for parties. This is a great local business which I wish more folks would support. They serve excellent food. Their tri-tip is always so tender. Their Central Cheeseburger is a triple-patty burger, and takes a knife and fork to eat because it is so big. This time around I ordered the 805 Tri-Tip Burrito and I have to say it is one of the best burritos I've had anywhere. It is huge, and just SO tasty! We saw a commercial for The Central Cafe that they had oak pit tri tip so we just had to try it! I honestly didn't have high expectations and I was blown away. I got the 805 burrito with tri tip and it was delicious. My only complaint is that menu stated it came with sour cream and the was very little to be found. My husband got chicken and tri tip tacos and he loved them. My daughter got the kids cheeseburger and the size was just perfect. We will definitely be back! read more

Super nice staff and karaoke on Saturday nights for all ages is a blast. They have two pool tables too. The menu is limited and meat-heavy, but the burgers, fries, and shakes are tasty and the prices can't be beat. The best burgers on the Central Coast! Although many things on the menu look great I always seem to order the burgers because they are just so delicious! Hand formed meat patty, perfectly seasoned in a tasty fresh and soft bun. The onion rings are awesome too. Finally got a chance to try this place on 1/24/19 at around 4:30 pm. I really wanted to like this place and was super hopeful because of the 4 star rating. However, I was very disappointed. The service was good except that it took quite a while to get our food. The food was seriously disappointing. We ordered a tri-tip salad and a protein burger. The tri-tip on the salad looked anemic. It was a dull gray color and chopped so small it might as well have been ground beef and there was very little of it. The ranch dressing had been watered down to the point of running off the lettuce. The protein burger was from a frozen pattie and burnt and dry. I got 2 slices of bacon and 2 small slices (not wedges, slices) of avocado added for $1.00 each (which I don't mind the price for good product). We arrived at lunch today with an open mind and an empty stomach after reading the 13 prior reviews. We ordered the Thursday Special. This is a BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich (10% off the regular price); 1/2 basket of onion rings and a 16 ounce Oreo shake. The bill was $15.48. First impressions: There are 4 televisions, a pool table, a Simpsons pinball machine and air-hockey in a large restaurant/seating area. The wooden chairs do not have cushions. The restaurant is very clean! Food: The Oreo shake was KILLER. The onion rings were very good. Unfortunately, there is no ketchup on any of the tables. You must ask your server for some. The server brought one small "to-go" plastic container with ketchup. We asked for another one. Lastly, I don't know how to categorize the BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich. If you removed the BBQ sauce and advertised it as a French Dip sandwich, with Au-Juice gravy, it would taste much better! read more

With a good helping of chopped tri-tip, onions, cilantro a dollop of salsa AND chunks of avocado, these are by far THE best tacos I have had in a very long time!! (Bugged the owner again about getting on Yelp). So, as many readers have heard me say time and again, about Nipomo being a Dining Desert, well, there ARE a few desert-blooming places here in Nipomo, with The Central Grill being the latest addition to a too small number of good eateries in Nipomo! Tri tip tacos for $1 on Tuesdays served with homemade avacodo salsa. Yes avacodos in the salsa. Not guac just a few slices. I tried the burger the other day it was juicy and the bun was fresh. I got a regular burger with some jalapeño poppers, and split it with a friend who got tri-tip tacos. The burger was so delicious! Didn't care too much for the popper, I was craving some spice but it didn't deliver. It was still good though. The tri-tip tacos were interesting. I don't know if it was the salsa or just the seasoning but it wasn't that Santa Maria style tri-tip you would expect. I don't write bad reviews on yelp.. but this I s worth it. As our friends wrote,me and my family were in town for a little getaway. Our friends advised this place saying it made the best burgers in town. So we went. I stayed in the car with my 6 months old baby girl and our chihuahua while my boyfriend went in to place the order. 25 min later he came back in the car and said "I'm still waiting but it should be ready soon". Cool. He goes back in and another 20 min later I decided to go inside and see what was taking 45 min for 2 burgers. As I walked in I see my boyfriend was getting a reimbursement. I was confused and he told me to leave so that he could explain outside. Once out he tells me that they skipped him serving the people behind him, and when he asked for an eta they offer a reimbursement instead. He didn't want to complain because there were other families enjoying their Father's Day lunch, but I went back in with my baby girl and explained how rude it was of him (the owner) to conveniently skip my boyfriend and make a me and my baby wait out in the heat for 45 min. I'm not playing the race card because my boyfriend is black, but this is not how your treat costumers or people in general. The owner told me bunch of excuses and then said "I can make them now if you can wait another 20 min." We left and went back on the road. Pissed and hungry.. By the way this was my boyfriend first Father's Day. I've eaten here twice over the past year or so and the food has always been good. The last two times I drove from Arroyo Grande (about 10 miles) to have lunch here they have been closed. (I arrive well after their advertised 11:00am opening time). Inconsistent operating hours are often an early sign that a restaurant will fail. We came once before the grand opening and were not impressed. They messed up our order in 3 different ways and the food was not what we had hoped for. Having said that, we stopped by in late Aug, and it was soooooo much better. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the tri-tip sandwich was delicious, and the nachos were great too.
