Nice sized shrimp they use

Went Valentine's Day and was seated quick, the person that sat us was very nice and our waitress was consistent and always checked to see if we needed anything. The porterhouse I ordered medium and it tasted 8/10 the room is lit perfect and not too bright.

Harris Ranch Steaks!! Say Less!

Such Great service!! I looked up a local for a nice steak after a grueling 12hr day in the sun to treat myself to a steak n beer. I noticed they serve Harris Ranch Steaks and didn't think twice. I walked in, still in my work clothes somewhat disheveled lookin yet was treated with such attentive hospitality. Great selection of cold bottled beers WITH A FROSTY GLASS MUG!! What more can a blue-collar dude ask for . Steak was perfectly cooked a medium-rare and was marvelous!! Definitely a spot I recommend for a select choice of quality steaks.

16oz T-Bone, baked potato & garlic bread.

They've re-opened under new owners. Still the same marinade. (a plus) Steaks are now Harris Ranch beef and not Sysco. (another plus) As long as they keep adding previous menu items, they should do well.

Had a amazing experience after not coming in for 5 plus years ! The guest service unbelievable bob was truly amazing ! The food omg sooooooo great! Always add the shrimp it was worth it .

I took my son and daughter to this place and it did not disappoint! The food was so delicious my steak was cooked perfect. The staff was friendly and they made sure we had everything we need. The waitress even put credits in the jukebox for my kids to play whatever they wanted. Us along with our waitress were having a mini concert while waiting for out food just singing away. We will definitely be back here.

Loved coming here! The staff is super friendly and the food is so good! You have to try their Chicken Alfredo!!!

This is the second filet which was supposed to be medium rare too. Both steaks were dry and had a strange smell.

We really wanted to love this place....Came here on a Friday at 5p for our first "post-vaccine" dinner and we were shocked at how hot it was inside. Like super hot. We asked if the air conditioner was broken and the server just walked away....it was cooler outside! We asked them to turn on one of the two super dusty fans above the bar and we were told they didn't work. We were also surprised at how small the menu is: no pasta dishes at all. We ordered fried mushrooms, a kid's pepperoni pizza, two filet mignons , with blue cheese salads. They were out of mushrooms so we don't know if they are good. The salad itself was one of those bagged iceberg lettuce with carrots that you can get anywhere. The blue cheese dressing is incredible, though: creamy and blue-cheesy with blue cheese crumbles on top. They brought us jalapeño poppers in place of the mushrooms and they were exactly like the ones you can get at Jack in the Box. The fries were unseasoned and greasy. The filets were not filet cut. Not sure what they cut they were but they were extremely over-cooked. We ordered medium rare and you can see by the pictures that they were well-done and they had a bad smell. We apologized to our server, left her a $20 tip and left. We ended up going to Fugazzis instead as we were starving. Service was hit or miss--mostly miss. They weren't too busy--five tables other than us with three servers on the floor and we saw three cooks behind the line. We had to ask for drink refills. The house Chardonnay (which is all they offer by the glass) was meh. It was ice cold, though, which was nice.

It's located in the heart of the downtown Porterville. The downtown is the cutest with its charming brick sidewalks and modern street lamps with an old fashion look. The restaurant has a secure back parking lot with an entrance. Or you can enter from the front, the street parking is angled lots so no parallel to parking fussiness. They were are able to accommodate large parties if you make reservations in advance. My large-ish group were even able to get separate checks. Appreciate that. Our waitress did a great job handling our table and her other tables. We were immediately served our drinks and complimentary focaccia bread and olive oil n vinegar was brought to the table. I ordered the chicken parmigiana ($20) and requested no mozzarella cheese on top. The waitress informed me that there is some parmesan cheese sprinkled on the spaghetti noodles. Very attentive of her to ask. The plate and food came out hot. The chicken filet was thick but all so tender and moist. Nice amount of breading and without the mozzarella on top just like I requested. Excellent. The serving size was ample. The spaghetti sauce was tasty with a touch of sweetness. Not harsh tasting at all. The noodles were cooked to a perfect doneness. Having a HFCS aversion, I forgot to ask about the sauce but I had no effects. So I'm going go out on a limb and say the sauce has no HFCS.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The portions were HUGE so people know when ordering.read more

Had heard great things about this restaurant and finally decided to give it a try. The menu was composed of fairly common dishes found at most Mexican restaurants. I'll review the dishes we tried. First, we had some carne asada tacos. The meat was seasoned and cooked well, topped on fresh made corn tortillas. Garnished with onion, cilantro and fresh salsas. Would have again. Their fish was freshly fried and seasoned well. Nice crisp skin and super moist flesh. The garlic butter I requested added an additional layer of flavor. The refried beans were delicious and well as the rice. The side salad was complimentary to the fish as it was refreshing and citrusy. I enjoyed my meal to say the least. I definitely will visit again.

You can't miss the building, with its whimsical signature black bear statues. I stopped on in for lunch. The customer service was terrific and the food was good, just like the typical Black Bear way. The main dining area had booth seating with some counter seating. I suppose there was table seating but I didn't see any in the main area. I ordered the customized breakfast of a waffle, bacon, and scrambled eggs. The waffle smelled like vanilla. It's a biggum... pretty large size. It has the signature bear claw waffle print which I adore. It could have been a bit crispier still delicious though. The syrup is maple syrup, so no High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). The waffle mix also doesn't contain HFCS. Even the ketchup they serve is free of HFCS. So appreciate that. The bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly, the two entire pieces were cooked evenly to a perfect crispy doneness. Not an easy feat. Our waitress was great. Big smile and welcoming attitude. We were able to get multiple checks for our table. When it came time to pay the bill with the cashier, there was a long line. Not surprising considering it was the lunch rush. The manager opened up the other register and quickly moved us all along. Very efficient.

Food is always consistent and I have yet to be disappointed. Whether having breakfast or lunch, it's always great! When available, I splurge for the steak and eggs special. Steak is thick, char grilled and cooked to your desired temp. The country potatoes are always crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, seasoned well. Adding bell peppers and onions adds to the experience. Eggs always cooked perfectly and toast soft yet crisp with plenty of butter. Highly recommend. The breakfast bowl is my wife's go to.
