Owners are awesome and beer is cold. Enjoy a game of shuffle board or pool and listen to music.

Elderwood is located in the darling hotel in downtown Visalia on the rooftop, it's a small beautiful location with indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside the weather was nice but there was a bit of a breeze we asked of a heater could be brought closer to us in which it did when we were done with our dinner. My friend and I dressed up nice only to find people wearing sweatshirts sweats, jeans and whatever else they found in their closet next time I know I can just come as I am, but hey we dressed up to feel good and look out best and we did! Our server wasn't very attentive she only had one other table outside and didn't seem to engaged we started by splitting a Caesar salad and ordered a lemon drop martini, we sat and chatted then she took our entree order in which we both ordered the roasted chicken. The food came and it was absolutely delicious incredible flavor the chicken wasn't dry, we continued to catch up the server came by when we half way through our meal to check on us, we did have another drink with our dinner, the lemon drops were fantastic. Overall location was prime food and drinks were excellent and service was mediocre at best but again why do I even have my hopes up for? I need to go in expecting less so when it actually is average at best I won't be disappointed like I am, like I said in this economy if I'm willing to spend my money at least act like to you care to help is that too much to ask?

We got the spicy shrimp appetizer,12 oz New York strip, the lobster with mash potato's and Mac and cheese. Food was okay, price tag was steep for the quality. Especially considering, the "from the grill" section did not come with a side had to be ordered separate and food came out lukewarm but flavor was good (except the mash potato's they were bland). Drinks were good. Additional note: having bathroom lights that are on sensors, don't work well for people in stalls. Having to sit in a dark restroom while using the facilities is not an enjoyable experience. Two stars because the overall vibe is decent and drinks are good. Food is just ok for a luxury price and staff is not set up for success.

It's located in the heart of the downtown Porterville. The downtown is the cutest with its charming brick sidewalks and modern street lamps with an old fashion look. The restaurant has a secure back parking lot with an entrance. Or you can enter from the front, the street parking is angled lots so no parallel to parking fussiness. They were are able to accommodate large parties if you make reservations in advance. My large-ish group were even able to get separate checks. Appreciate that. Our waitress did a great job handling our table and her other tables. We were immediately served our drinks and complimentary focaccia bread and olive oil n vinegar was brought to the table. I ordered the chicken parmigiana ($20) and requested no mozzarella cheese on top. The waitress informed me that there is some parmesan cheese sprinkled on the spaghetti noodles. Very attentive of her to ask. The plate and food came out hot. The chicken filet was thick but all so tender and moist. Nice amount of breading and without the mozzarella on top just like I requested. Excellent. The serving size was ample. The spaghetti sauce was tasty with a touch of sweetness. Not harsh tasting at all. The noodles were cooked to a perfect doneness. Having a HFCS aversion, I forgot to ask about the sauce but I had no effects. So I'm going go out on a limb and say the sauce has no HFCS.

Great food, atmosphere and service. The portions were HUGE so people know when ordering.read more

For brunch, I ordered the steak and potatoes, and it was sooo good. Everything was cooked really well and had great flavor, definitely felt like a more upscale brunch compared to your typical spots. One of my favorite parts though is the pastries they bring out -- such a nice touch and always super good. I also tried their cappuccino and it was just okay, nothing amazing but not bad either. The service here is always amazing, which honestly makes such a difference. I think the brunch is better than dinner, oops hot take! But everyone is super attentive and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels classy but still comfortable. Definitely a solid spot for a nicer brunch or dinner, I'll for sure keep coming back.

I sat at the bar, which was finished this evening for its first opening. I could smell the scent of fresh varnish as I sat alone at a long marble bar attended by two enthusiastic employees, Cameron, my server, and Katie, my bartender. I ordered the 10 oz. steak and the brussels sprout side, which were both excellent. I also enjoyed a glass of Sandhi Chardonnay and Banshee Pinot Noir. I appreciated the restaurant's by-the-glass options that are different from what I find listed at other similar establishments. The restaurant was packed and very lively. The owner, James, came out to say hello and share his story about the business, which I learned opened within the last 9 months. They roast their own coffee beans for a variety of after dinner selections. Truly, an impressive effort by a local restaurant to offer a unique and elevated dining experience. I was here on business travel and intend to visit again. Highly recommended.

We're always greeted with friendly service. The restaurant is spacious, updated, and modern. The vibe is set with good music and a relaxing atmosphere. The server brings your menus to your table and will come back to take your order when you're ready. ( I mention this because another reviewer said they ordered at the entrance and then sat down, which has never been our experience. This is a full service, sit down restaurant.) Since it was breakfast, the server brought over an extra large warm flour tortilla in a basket along with some butter. Yummy!! We munched on that and sipped on our beverage until our orders came. I had the Huevo Ranchero with a side of chile verde and beans. My friends opted for lunch, and ordered the carne asada with rice and beans, which came with a side of roasted nopales. Everything was delicious! I could tell the carne asada was fresh and tender. It was easily cut with a butter knife. My friends also commented that it was very good. That says a lot because they are picky eaters. There's also a cool bar and nice patio with streaming lights for those wanting to hang out outside or have a drink with friends. Overall it's clean, has nice decor, good service...and most importantly delicious food. It's a win!

The place is really nice. It's clean. It has like same set up but just a little bit different I believe they have different tables, but anyways we were greeted promptly and we were sat down really quick. It was just a table for two. So we sat down. They brought us one flower tortilla with butter and that was gone real quick so we ended up ordering the chicken taquitos or flautas which I really wasn't impressed. They looked really delicious when they brought them out, but the chicken was not shredded. It was like cut into pieces and then fried in the tortilla which I felt was weird. The flavor was bland. They offer a lot of salsa, but none of them had a kick to it like spice, but other than that, you know, they had sour cream, fresco lettuce. You know the presentation was good but the chicken inside was cut into chunks and it wasn't shredded chicken or shredded. You know that's what surprise me. Then we ordered the queso which had a sliced jalapeño and then sliced onions which was delicious. That was probably the best. I was not impressed with the chips I felt like they didn't have enough salt. They were too hard but the chorizo guess so dip was delicious. We couldn't decide on what to eat since they do offer a variety of breakfast lunch and dinner and she said it was all day so we decided on the Molcajete. It came with chicken Carne shrimp and a headlight not a piece of chorizo head like I don't know how to call it. I had chorizo on it, but it wasn't like chunks so I was too impressed because it was just different from what I've had in the past again. The salsa were not spicy, but it was good. It was really good. You know it's just the tortilla chips. I wasn't impressed with the beans that's another issue. Beans are the easiest thing that a person can make and I felt like they were canned Rosarito beans I could be wrong but I love beans what brought me there was the flour tortillas and beans and the tea was good but the beans I feel they could've done something better but other than that, I will be back you know to try it again you know sometimes they get a different cook, but I was it was good but I feel it could've been a lot better being that they're not that busy being that they're new and they just opened I definitely will give them another chance and hopefully it will be different.
