Despite the ominous name, the restaurant was great. The food was amazing but the best part was the atmosphere. I felt like I was in an excellent club. The people were amazing. And overall, it was amazing.

So... a lot has changed and the Cellar is under new management. First of all, bravo! It's better. The new owners have updated the interior and it's simply stunning. As is the food , the appetizers are better than ever. They now have calamari which is delicious. The smoked salmon is as great as ever and the entrees are well worth the price. This is a must visit restaurant in Owego and a true gem. Well done and highly recommended

Very enjoyable. Excellent food at a good price. Would love to try the lobster thermador but need to plan for the minimum 45 minute cook time.

We came too early for dining so we hung out at the bar for a bit. John, the bartender, is friendly & professional. In addition to the Beach Breeze he was able to create a Bushwacker. Very good. The Island Burger is deliciously juicy & tender. The House Salad, with dried cranberries & walnuts with a harvest dressing, also good. Our waitress is professional but not friendly. Elegant dining & atmosphere.

We booked this restaurant for our celebratory dinner for our son's graduation from BU. They put out a special, condensed menu for this weekend, as it's also Mother's Day weekend, and "we don't want our chef to be so overwhelmed by the crowd that they'd jump into the river!" according to our marvelous waiter, who was attentive, knowledgeable, efficient and with a great sense of humor (which adds value to our experience, making it ever more enjoyable). The river was out the dining room window, a gorgeous view to accompany our meal. We were all really hungry so ordered a lot of food. Every bite was amazing! We finished everything, even after we were all too full to eat any more. Just didn't want to waste such deliciousness. It was a perfect and memorable evening in every aspect!

After they marked all the menu items up they added another $1.87 for who knows what??

I always thought it was in a cellar so I never tried this place until yesterday. Come to find out it is under new ownership as of September. Anyway, the place is definitely old, as is the decor. It's nice and clean but very dated. And cold inside. There were plenty of servers there but because we sat in the bar area, the bartender John waited on us. He was nice enough but the service was weak at best. Had to ask for a refill, had to ask for the check..etc The food, well started with soup for my wife and I had the mussels in red sauce. Both were amazing and hot. My wife got a Sunday pre fix menu item, soup, chicken legs w mashed potatoes and green beans. I got a Ruben 'which they weren't supposed to serve on Sunday' requested on toast, not grilled. Everything on the chicken plate was cold. Cold mashed, cold chicken legs, lukewarm warm beans. Tasted like everything was sitting around in a warmer. My Ruben was grilled despite my request for it to be on toast. Thinnest Ruben ever. The two slices of bread were thicker than the filling. Very weak version on a Ruben. Kicker is they told us we could only order off the Sunday menu. A local couple came in next and they offered them the full regular menu. Special rules for regulars I guess. Kicker #2, they billed us at higher prices than the menu. I asked John about it and he said they are CC prices. You get a discount for cash. I think you're supposed to state on the menu that there is a service fee for CC's , it was just weird. I was also charged $3.10 for the tiniest 3 pcs of bread. And over $3 dollar for soda and tea is a little steep. One and done for us, not impressed at all... I would not recommend The Cellar!

We had a great table on the water. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, and the place was packed. The staff did a great job managing the work flow. Clearly an experienced group of people. We ordered the top item on the menu, the cheese steak sandwich, added some peppers. It was quite good. The fries here are and definitely get an order. The problem happened when I ordered the house burger- another top menu item. I asked for "medium rare", which should have a hot center but some pink left. What I got was well done- and dry as the desert. I had to drink a lot of water to wash it down. Normally-if this was a steak, I'd send it back. But- it was a burger and the kitchen was already jammed, so I choked it down- I was really hungry. I would not order the steak here- pretty sure a 6 ounce filet would end badly. Other dishes being served at other tables looked great. I would come back here. It's a great place. Thus- 5 stars.

(I'm still partial to Krispy Kreme however that's quite a drive from here.). The place is rather large, the dining area indoors looks like it's good for at least 30 people anyways and then the outdoor porch weather permitting is probably good for another 20. I arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and the line was forming pretty quickly however it also moved along pretty quickly. The person that takes your order is not the same person that gets your donuts and puts them in the box, so that seems to streamline things pretty well. There's a display up by the cash register with one of every donut that is currently being sold that morning/day so you can make your selection easier. The menu is a little more extensive than donuts, as they also have hoagies and shareables and of course coffee/ juices. For whatever reason, somebody decided to put donuts with beer... Yeah I don't know... But, if the mood strikes you they have a very fine selection that they rotate from time to time of draft beer. It's a pour your own kind of a thing and they also sell growlers. There's of course t-shirts and other random souvenirs that not only have the company logo/wording but Owego in general. Bottom of mind this place is definitely worth a visit.

Once for a bonfire! Lol It's a local thing. They have a wonderful casual deck. I love sitting out there. On this last visit, we skipped the beers, and went straight for Babe's burgers. They are stationed on the deck. I ordered their burger with carmelized onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. Pickle on the side. The tomato was a farm fresh Tomato which is AWESOME! It was a local farm grown tomato, and the burger was delish. We ordered a small fries, and 3 of us shared them, and still threw some out. Yes, a small is that large. They don't sell drinks at the babes burger window. We got those at the bar. They had a free water jug, with plastic cups. I ordered a Waterloo sparking water, one friend had regular water, and the last had a soda. Because the owner makes their own beer there. I highly recommend checking them out, for beers and burgers. We didn't order any this time, because we were getting ready to go on a long drive. But....Since I live there, I can confirm their beer is worth it! I love their casual atmosphere, it's a great place to go to talk and dine. It's a local place, so it wouldn't be awkward to see go there and run into friends and start combining tables. Everyone is super friendly, so if you're ever lonely or bored, it's a great place to stop by, and hang out, you're almost guaranteed to make new friends. Parking can be tricky if they are busy, but people park on the street as long as they don't block any cars from getting by. I also love that they allow dogs, on leash, and they can't beg.
