Fried catfish and Gulf style seafood place. I understand it's a small chain, but it feels a bit like a mom and pop place. The food is ranges from good to very good. Standard offerings with fried catfish, boiled shrimp, fried oysters, gumbo, etc. I can't say that any one stands out above the other. I'm pretty picky about gumbo and theirs passes muster. Counter service, get your own drinks, they give you a number, and then deliver your food to your table. Service after that is non-existent, though is you go back and ask for anything extra they are very friendly and responsive. It can be noisy as the inside is basically a concrete floor. Seating outside is available. The money is spent on the foot, not on ambience or service, which is fine if you understand that going in. read more

This was our first time here. We had a fried shrimp basket and oyster basket. Shrimp were large and perfectly seasoned, not spicy. Oysters were plentiful and large and good. Hush puppies were very tasty with a hint of corn. French fries were good and plentiful, too. We saw several bowls of beans & rice going out. I read that it is popular and forgot to try it. When the staff is not taking or serving orders, they are cleaning and replenishing and double checking on customers. We'll be back and explore more of the menu with the beans and rice. read more

I was wary of trying this place. A good seafood place in Longview? Doubtful. So one day I decided to try it out. I had the fried shrimp basket with fries and it was delicious! Surely a fluke, I thought. So I tried it again, this time getting the fried fish tacos with rice and beans instead of fries. It was outstanding! The fish was perfectly fried and the combination of flavors really lit up my taste buds. The rice and beans was pretty good and the hush puppies are also good. The fries have a nice flavor and a good texture. The fried fish and shrimp were both excellent. I'll probably try something grilled next time to see if the healthier options live up to the tastiness of the fried options. I'll definitely be back! read more

Ordered boiled crab at Longview 4th Street. After order was received, was told by person who identified herself as the manager (Jordan) that The Catch did not have anything to open the crab to eat. When I asked how I was supposed to open the crab shell, she shrugged. Refused refund. Jordan also refused to provide full name of her supervisor. read more

Never will I ever go to this place again five pieces of tiny shrimp and one small piece of fish for 10$ we were very hungry and where told that there was a lot on the plate the "one piece" of fish was so caked in meal it was hard as could be! We went though drive through on 6/23 around 4:30/5:00. A dark headed girl was working the drive through she was the rudest person, I have came across in a while. I'm not complaining about the food, it was good. But they need to replace or her at the window. I even said thank you and she shut the window in my face. First time I been there and want go back. The reason why I give this place a two star review. Is because, the shrimps are on point . That (means great) the only thing I really did hate is they shoe string French fries. They were very hard and couldn't enjoyed them. The red beans and rice is very runny and bland. It's not true Cajun food. I come to east Texas often as we have family out here and this was one of the better catfish places I've been too. After the Covid 19 reopening, they changed their fish and possibly the shrimp. I used to eat here all the time. Now, I will never return. The huge size of the filets does not allow for the breading to stick in the previous manner OR the breading has been changed also. These small shrimp hardly had any breading at all. I sat in line 20 minutes and there were only 2 cars ahead of me. Time becomes a less significant factor if the food is worth the wait. Complaining to management does absolutely no good. It has been a long time since I have been this excited and enthusiastic about a new restaurant in Longview but I have to say, The Catch has got me buzzing! I drove past it several times and noticed that every time, it was packed to the gills (no pun intended). The kicker was when I drove by on a Sunday afternoon at 3:45 and it was packed and there was a line of cars wrapped around the building at the drive thru. I said to myself, "Self, there must be something going on here!" I went with the wife on a Monday night and it was packed at 8:45 (nothing in Longview is packed at 8:45 except Wal-Mart and the Good Shepherd emergency room). The décor reminded us of an "Aw Shucks" oyster bar in Dallas and the staff was very attentive and nice. I got the fried shrimp, catfish and chicken combo and my wife got fried oysters and gumbo. This is the best fried catfish I've had since Bobby Crawford died (only old school Longview-ites would get that). The fried chicken and shrimp were excellent and the fries were outstanding. My wife loved her fried oysters and she's particular about her fried oysters! I texted several of my friends after we were done raving about this place and most of them replied, "Yeah, been there several times...best seafood in Longview!" Thanks for the heads up, fella's!!!
