Wonderful country pub located in the rustic village of Danehill. The place dates back to 1847 and…read morethey have tried their best to retain as much of its old charm as possible. There's a huge maple tree in the 'adult only' sun terrace (its nice not having screaming kids interrupting your lunch) and from the front garden you get a lovely view of the South Downs. The food here is out of this world, I tried the pork loin the last time I was there and it was excellent (again, the views only added to the enjoyment). This establishment is in the AA pub guide so can get busy at weekends so if you're in a large group, it may be worth booking in advance.

We stumbled upon the Coach & Horses pub for dinner after reading highly rated reviews on a pub…read moreguide website. They do take reservations here as it was advised that they can get busy on the weekends but if you go for a late bite then you should be able to get a table. They had a set menu for dinner tonight with a good selection to choose from. For our starter, we ordered camembert cheese, bell peppers and bread which was delicious! As for our mains, I ordered the mushroom risotto and my husband got the beer-battered fish and chips. My meal was okay but could've been cooked a bit longer. The fish and chips were decent, however my husband couldn't taste any hint of beer in the batter. Overall our food was okay but we wouldn't rate it as high. Service was prompt and staff were friendly. The pub is quite cosy and they have a good amount of seating. Prices are a bit more than the usual pub but they're reasonable.
