There was also a lovely burrata starter and a lemon cake for dessert I'm happy to go back for more pizza, which is something I never thought I'd hear myself say

It just wasn't anywhere near as good as everyone had told me it would be. I'll start with the restaurant itself. The layout is poor - the tables are small and packed in tightly, when the restaurant is full it's not easy to squeeze to your seat. The menu is also a problem - although the permanent menu is on a paper placemat, the specials and other items are on a blackboard on one wall. Which you can't see at all from certain parts of the restaurant which was really annoying. The food wasn't bad. But it just wasn't amazing. To start we shared a couple of 'bites'. The buffalo mozzarella with cherry tomatoes, rocket and pitta was disappointing - never before have I had hard Buffalo mozzarella. The burrata with salami on the other hand was the stand out dish - I'm really fussy with burrata and this was lovely. For my main I had the vegetarian special - buffalo mozzarella (uncooked) on a cherry tomato base with watercress pesto. When it was served I had to send it back because they forgot the pesto. But it was a good pizza. And this buffalo mozzarella wasn't hard like the starter one was. My companion had pizza 4 from the main menu - it was described as having little tomato, and I don't think we noticed any at all. It wasn't great. To drink I had the organic lemonade which was horrible. It had a slightly chemically taste to it, and I've never seen fresh lemonade that orange before. I wouldn't recommend. I'm actually really disappointed. I know Franco Manca has one hell of a reputation to live up to but even considering that the hype lifted my expectations, it could have been much better. I won't be rushing back but I would try other branches.

Went in two days in a row. For a fried appetizer assortment and seafood with pasta. Both days food quality 5 stars. Friday night waited 45 min inside the restaurant for takeaway. They got the order wrong , didnt give us garlic cheese bread so lost out on 8 pounds. Saturday night wasnt very busy at all so takeaway took 10 min. Dropped 30 pounds each time and food is worth the quality but these seem like nyc prices. Good for them for having consistent food quality over the years (based off of prior reviews) .

It's definitely a meeting spot for the local Italian community which added to the atmosphere of the place (you might be sat in Tooting but for a little while you could imagine being in Turin). The menu's fairly comprehensive, with a good range of starters (£4-£7.50), pasta (£5-£8.50) and pizzas (£5.50-£10.50). We went straight for the latter, with me ordering the Calzone (tomato sauce, ricotta, Neapolitan salami, ham, olive oil, basil) and my friend the Capricci (tomato sauce, ham, mushroom, artichoke, black olives, mozzarella, olive oil, basil). They were less than a tenner each and on the large side (which was a relief as we were both ravenous!). Service was friendly and efficient, and everything hit the spot, especially when accompanied by a bottle of Moretti beer. A great local eatery which is terrific value for money. Tip: they have Figli del Vesuvio - Double Pizza on the menu for £18.50. That needs to be attempted next time!
