Date of Visit: 02.10.09 "Pure Treasure - Great Chef with…read moregreat passion" Review: You first enter and feel that it is both casual and reasonably lively and Family friendly. I know Mill Hill and this is not my usual spot for breakfast or lunch so I was intrigued by Mill & Brew. The head chef was previously trained by Jamie Oliver and his passion for food and caring about the ingredients really shines through. Quick tip to the owner "don't let this one go". A great menu catering for all including a good vegetarian and vegan options with lots to select but my only criticism on the menu is that the Breakfast and Lunch menus are very similar and only a couple of new dishes added for lunch. Also although there are cakes and other dessert items no specific in house desserts and I would love to see this moving forward. All portion sizes are large so feel free to order more single dishes and share so you can get a chance to really sample the fantastic menu selection. I will be going again and would highly recommend this establishment to all. Parking: Ample station parking and also street metered parking also which although is limited to 1.5hours at around £2 you can go back and get another ticket. Decor & Lighting: A rustic cafe feel but really well done so you just feel comfortable at a light casual place to meet for a coffee or a full meal. Heating and Cooling: Noted they have AC and during our time the AC was off but temperature was perfect, not hot or cold. Ambience & Acoustics: A great feel but acoustics wise there were a few people around and it did sometimes get hard to have a conversation but being hard walls and high ceilings this would be an acoustic issue anyway. Service: Excellent service by all members of staff as each would come and ask if all was ok so very attentive. DB Level: 77.3 dB We had the following: Coconut crush - My friend had this and suffice to say it must have been to her taste as nothing was left. Berry burst - Textured and fresh and I am no fan of blueberry but loved this combination. I would recommend this for all to try. Beetroot smash (Poached beetroot smashed with organic yoghurt, topped with pomegranate, crushed walnuts & pistachios finished with fresh apple on sourdough) - A take on the usual avocado on toast but using an english ingredient. The bread is crispy with the beetroot both light and sweet. All very well presented and I for one not being a fan of beetroot was a bit worried about this one but I was pleasantly surprised and I am glad we had selected this from the menu and is a must to try. English breakfast (Two fried eggs, smoked streaky bacon, award-winning sausage, homemade baked beans, a baked tomato, Portobello mushroom, potato & onion rosti and toast) - Again a well presented dish. All the ingredients used and specially selected. The beans being fresh and not the canned variety with a great light taste. You also get a little salad with light fresh dressing. Along with the best crispy bacon I have had which was really crunchy. The award winning sausage had a light spice and perfectly cooked and not too meaty. The tomatoes and mushrooms along with the perfect egg and the most amazing hash brown all work in perfect balance. M&B banana pancakes (Triple-stacked fluffy pancakes! Choose between our classic smoked bacon and maple syrup or our caramelised bananas with sweetened cream cheese & toasted hazelnuts) - Sweet and fluffy but be aware this is a large portion which we shared and still could not finish the entire dish. Real care and attention taken to the dish which would not go a miss in most fine dining establishments. Albeit they would probably charge more and give a much smaller portion. Halloumi rings - A nice touch and variation on onion rings. A nice light and crispy batter and works well as a side dish also served with a home made dip which works well. Fries/Chips (Hand cut, twice cooked, crispy chips) - Great chunky chips which are rustic with the skin left on. Again served with a great home made dip. A treat for all. Chicken Schnitzel Burger (Free range crispy chicken breast fillet in a brioche bun with baby gem lettuce, homemade coleslaw & mature cheddar cheese, topped with siracha mayo) - A nice homely made item, crispy, crunchy and nice taste to the batter coating. Really fresh and worth every penny. Conclusion: The slight issue we found is that the Wi-Fi needs improvement as there is poor signal and no real cover. But food wise and atmosphere wise there was no complaints at all other than wanting maybe more items for Lunch and having their own home made dessert menu. All the food is fresh and all ingredients sourced with care and attention. I would be happy to have the same food in the top city hotel and I do think this chef is going places so why not try out where he started his own vision before you have to pay more for the privilege in years to come. Great food and good value.

After an awful experience at Nando's a few stores down in the London Designer Outlet, I called in…read moreHandmade Burger Co having been intrigued by a large sign in a window about their gluten-free range. I called here late evening on an event day, after watching Manchester City defeat Chelsea 2-0 to win the Community Shield, and due to the time, it did seem a little quiet, with only one staff member actively working, who seemed friendly enough. He briefly explained the gluten-free menu to me, that I could basically have any burger on the menu made gluten-free, and the menu I found to be cool and interesting, even included a peanut-butter burger, however, I decided to be slightly more basic, ordering a simple American cheeseburger. The selection of chips also was pretty cool, they were fresh chips with your choice of seasoning for a small fee extra - Peri-peri - Cajun - Rosemary Salt I decided to opt for the rosemary salt, the chips were okay, albeit not spectacular. Moving onto my burger, it was basically presented like a DIY burger with the bun in a bag, I found this approach to be a little weird, considering the price I paid is a competitive restaurant price I found it weird they'd serve it like that, and would much prefer they put it together, but I understand why this is good for coeliacs as it minimises cross-contamination and offers assurances that I won't be ill through eating the food. The overall food quality was satisfactory, the burger did appear to be cooked slightly more well-done than medium but still was okay, I did like the American Cheese on the burger but once again this wasn't as good as possible, as the cheese should have been more melted than just a slice placed on the burger. It is worth noting you can get two for one here using Tastecard between Sunday and Thursday, however I couldn't use it on the day of my visit because it was a Wembley event day, without this offer I think the pricing is a little pricey, especially when you want to add extras such as chips or a drink which should be included in perhaps a burger bundle. Average quality at slightly above average prices warranting a high two-star rating, yet sadly not deserving of a three-star rating due to a large amount of issues.

With a tremendous variety of burgers on offer here at Handmade Burger, and perks such as student…read morediscount and bottomless soft drinks available, this seems like an okay choice for lunch or dinner and it is just that. I've been twice now, once for dinner and another time for lunch. The lunch was considerably better than the dinner although the menu is the same. The reason why lunch was more pleasurable is probably as there were fewer customers and so the cooking was not rushed nor deep fried as much. Dinner on a night when there is a match or other event on at Wembley is bound to involve a restaurant-full of people and, it would seem, less attention paid to the quality of food served.  The meat, from the beef patties and chicken breasts in the burgers to the chicken wings, does taste fresh and well seasoned. However the onion rings and rosemary chips were dry and a little brittle. I recommend the plain freshly cut chips over the flavoured options as they appear to be less overcooked. The milkshake comes in an enormous-American-like-sized tanker and as mentioned previously, bottomless soft drinks are a good value choice. The green chilli and fire roasted pepper sauces are nice to try but somewhat difficult to administer through the tiny hole at the top of their bottles. Ketchup and mayo can be requested from your server.  Basically, Handmade Burger feels like Nandos but specialising in burgers rather than chicken. However the fillings here are better yet the sides are not. You order and pay up-front first, and the dining area is simple and casual. Ultimately it's somewhere to go for a quick and filling meal.

This location is located basically right next to Wembley Stadium, which is the largest football stadium in the UK, home to the England National Football team, and temporary home to Tottenham Hotspur. Inside, the branch seems to be set out like a typical American burger joint, there isn't a great deal of seating and the Fatburger branding seems to be all over. The staff didn't seem to be too friendly or knowledgeable about gluten-free, luckily I checked the website beforehand to find out what food I could have or I'd have been in a tricky and messy situation. I decided to order the Skinny Fatburger, sadly I was told I was unable to have the chips/fries or any side due to gluten. The Skinny Fatburger is a burger where the bun is replaced by more burger meat, the meat was terribly cooked and bland, and the toppings were just thrown on, it basically was a cheap sloppy mess at a premium price of £8.25. The waiting time and communication in getting my food was also a mess, it seemed staff were walking around carrying the food, some of them even wore a coat instead of a uniform, so it felt like a random person was walking up to you with your food, which was strange and unprofessional. I was also told they didn't do milkshakes because it was match-day, of course, I was visiting ahead of Manchester City's 3-0 win over Arsenal in the 2018 Carabao Cup, but I still cant' understand this policy. I'm actually struggling to come up with a positive to describe this place, other than the location, this place can't be missed if you're attending Wembley Stadium, especially if approaching from towards Wembley Central Station, which is around a 5-10 minute walk from here (overground and underground services). With many other places to grab a burger nearby (it's right next to a football stadium after all), I'm struggling to see how this place survives with cheap, dreadful, sloppy food and bad service at a high price. Sadly, having wanted to try this place for a while I ended up being highly dissapointed, hence Fatburger at Wembley, London sadly deserves a one-star rating.

It's the best burger I have had in London and I have gone everywhere in my burger sampling (I am American, after all). Let's start with the burger. I went with the double bacon cheese; in for a penny, in for a pound. The beef was plentiful and flavourful, and thin, which is my preference. They used crispy, smoked streaky bacon (perfect) and a lovely tangy sauce to round it out. And the bun...the bun! It's a super soft brioche and it managed to hold together until the end, pretty rare in my experience. They offer an impressive, almost staggering, array of beers. Some are quite strong so be ready. The two I tried were fantastic and it seems like some thought has gone into the menu. The fries were also excellent and I look forward to trying the cheese and gravy version next time. The prices are very reasonable, though not dirt cheap, which is actually comforting. The ambiance was pretty humble but it's a burger joint so that is expected. The music was really cool so that really made it a nice place to be. The service was friendly and prompt. What more do you want?

But it's not good here and hasn't ever been. It's generally pretty full, and can be a wait for a seat (or you have to sit at some high stools thing). But my main gripe involves the new screens. Part of the McD's quality control involves needing time to sit under a heat lamp to melt the cheese and let the whole thing congeal together. But with the screens, they don't pre-make food, so things are just too fresh, which seems silly but it's true. Plus they rush the preparation, and my Big Mac was a complete mess - lettuce everywhere, not enough sauce, pickles just loose in the box. I guess this is how McD's are just going to be from now on, which is probably for the best - because I won't be tempted!
