Next up I choose the cheeseburger and my friend had the T bone steak.. I must say I was jealous of their meal as my burger was a tad over cook and the fries wasnt as crispy as I expected. The coleslaw was good, but it was an good portion that I just couldn't finish. However the dessert display look really appetising and I went for the chocolate fondant and the apple tart. I must say give me dessert any day! The decor of the place is lovely and the vibes are very East London hipster style, but I don't think I will be rushing back in a hurry..

We ordered the calamari, when it came it looked amazing but tasted on point and delish. I've had calamari in different restaurants I would say this is one of my top places to get it. Anyways, we ordered the Grilled salmon, the Seabass fillet and Cordon Bleu breaded chicken. Dessert was a chocolate fondant with vanilla icecream. Everything was scrumptious. I would say friendly service, big portions (wasn't expecting it), lovely surroundings. Hygiene wise, clean.

Big windows let in lots of light and provide a breezy street view. Staff: Absolutely lovely, friendly and warm. Every time I've gone I've been greeted warmly and made to feel 'at home'. You're able to relax and enjoy your meal; I've never had an issue where I've felt 'moved on' by the staff which can happen sometimes at popular places. And now for the food: Always excellent. My companion has ordered the steak onglette several times and was consistently pleased with the flavoursome flesh. I've had the salmon and sea bass dishes and both were done perfectly light and flaky.Their chips are generally excellent too: hot, crispy..... mmmmm. I very much like that the menu proudly identifies the food source: from my last few visits the fish was supplied from John Norris and the meat from Ginger Pig. To top it off, the desserts are simply divine. For a small end-of-meal treat I heartily recommend the Affogato. I'm also a fan of their Pannacotta (see photo I've posted, with seasonal berries). It rolls onto the tongue and gently dissolves in a mouthful of soft and sweet goodness. I just realised I haven't even mentioned the booze! At your disposal here is a very good selection of ales, ciders, and red and white wine. Useful if you are visiting with a group who aren't all just beer drinkers. Overall, a damn good place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I've never quite understood the politics and have decided to ignore the local gossip, as far as I'm concerned they are both just as good (or bad) as each other. They are also both about as local as you get around here, and busier than ever since their only true competition down the road fell victim to celebrity-fronted gentrification a while back. Most importantly, they have kept us in food and wine throughout this weird summer of 2020. Tavistock Square is not the prettiest but add some sunshine and you feel transported to an average Spanish village. Nothing about La Plaza is all that special, but the tapas are tasty enough. Service is a bit of a mixed bag, so possibly not your first choice if you are in a hurry.

Ignore the stir though and head to La Plaza on a hot day or warm evening to sit in the square for hours on end with a good meal or tapas selection and some Estrella Galicia or a good Rioja. These guys do the standard tapas favourites very well, very succulent chorizo al vino or spicy patatas bravas, for example, but the real gems are their full meals. The best meal here by far is the Galician-style cod (bacalao de gallego), which will get you several massive hunks of cod cooked in paprika with potatoes, peas and other assorted goodies. The paellas are also fantastic and proper sharing food for a romantic dinner or date! Don't be put off by the vast number of regulars/locals you will see dining and drinking here, this is the kind of place that people come to night after night after night and for good reason.

I was in a group of 3 SHHH). The coleslaw wasn't as great as the rendition they were doing for the Lucky Chicken pop-up a few weeks ago, but it was still pretty damn delicious. I also ate (half) a cheese burger. Such an amazing cheese burger. The meat was perfectly cooked and very flavourful. I liked the charred taste as well, the salad was fresh and the bun was glazed and beautiful. I also ate half a Bill Murray burger. Oh. My. Lord. You only have until Sunday to try this before it changes to another weekly special and you NEED to try it. A perfectly cooked beef patty with a deep fried soft-shell crab. A deep fried soft-shell-crab in a burger. I KNOW. Covered in guacamole, spring onion, spicy mayo, sweet chilli ginger sauce and topped with american cheese in a sesame bun. I don't think I need to explain how good this was. (But just in case: The soft shell crab wasn't just a novelty addition, it lent a welcome crunchy texture and briny taste to the meaty burger. Like a pimped version of surf and turf. The american (processed) cheese was a good choice.) Camden Town Brewery offerings were out today but the staff were really lovely, the service was far better than my last visit and the whole place felt really friendly and just generally a really nice place to be on a Friday evening. I'm 4 starring not 5 starring because I'm kind of broke and while I think the burgers are pretty good value considering the quality of the meat and other ingredients I think the pub as a whole is pretty expensive.

I have tried to visit lucky chip before, but somehow never managed to find it when it was open...so I was really excited to try the fried chicken version of the famous burgers! We turned up around 6:30, ordered at the bar (and paid with credit cards- yay for not having to wander off to find a cash point!) The chicken arrived within a few minutes, was moist, perfectly seasoned (although some of the outer fried yumminess was flaking off) and sooo good! I ordered a 'snak box' which chicken, mashed potatoes covered in gravy, slaw and two warm bread rolls. Looking at the menu now, I probably wasn't meant to have the slaw, but it was yummy, so I am glad they included it by mistake! I wouldn't call this meal a 'snak' I was so full that I couldn't even face trying a slice of cherry pie! Hmmm...I do sort of want to go back again for more chicken and a slice of pie...I might have to stretch my stomach. The menu is pretty simple, but really tasty: http://thegraftonnw5.co.uk/food/
