The restaurant is carpeted, with plush furniture, inviting diners to enjoy intimate conversation; a rare dining pleasure in many restaurants these days. I don't recommend the Thai noodles (don't get this), but I highly recommend the chicken piccata. It's fabulous! Unfortunately it's not on the menu every day. The French onion soup and shrimp tacos are also very good. Especially when they have the Thai chili sauce version. I will be back for the chicken piccata! But unless they put it on the menu I'll need to call ahead first to find out if it's featured as a special. I will also be back for the comfortable enjoyable atmosphere.

Now compared to many places this general area does not have world class dining so comparing quality needs to be factored in. It also needs to be said that this is a hotel restaurant so if you are staying here and don't want to leave for a meal then give it a try. I can only speak to breakfast, maybe they are far better for lunch or dinner. The inside is kinda what you expect from an outdated hotel restaurant and could use some sprucing up. The highlight of the overall vibe is the window view of the golf course. Staff was friendly but speed wise of how long our food took was extremely slow especially considering so few tables were taken the day we went. Lastly, the food was forgettable and breakfast wise would be a skip if you were to ask me. Menu is also quite small and limited, look elsewhere before deciding to dine here.

My family and I had dinner at Jake's on the Water during our recent trip to Potsdam. Unfortunately,…read morewe couldn't sit outside because of the rain, but our table inside still offered a great view of the water. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests to give it a nice atmosphere. It felt comfortable, relaxed, and not noisy at all. We started with the Kung Pao Cauliflower, which was excellent. Even my kids, who don't usually enjoy vegetables, ate every bite. For their meals, both kids ordered brick oven pizzas. My older child had the Labrador and finished the entire pizza by himself, while my younger child ordered the Authentic with pepperoni and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fish of the day, and I chose the scallop special. Overall, the food was very good, the service was pleasant, and the waterfront setting made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

I was confused as to whether that's the norm, as almost every table was available, yet they expected that we had reservations. Sat outside and our waitress wasn't very quick, to our dismay. Drinks were terrible (Bloody Mary and matcha latte) but food was great. Took us much, much longer than we expected for a "quick" lunch, about two hours, but left happy and fed, overall.

Jake's on the Water - The contrast of lighting doesn't show this well, but we had an "interior" table tucked well back but still had a great river/lake/flow view.

If I could, I would give this place LESS than 1 star (Yelp should offer NEGATIVE stars because I…read morewouldn't even give this place the satisfaction of a negative Star!). I will NEVER set foot into this shit-hole again. I have a trailer home in the islands and I am a regular visitor to the islands now for close to 40 years. I frequent the areas bars, restaurants, clubs and entertainment venues and spend decent $$$ at each. Last night was the topper. It was Pirates Weekend in the Bay. I went into the Downtown Club. I was in full Pirate regalia. I was asked for proof (no problem, even if I'm 68, but I understand). I walked into the foyer to see if a good friend of mine was bartending. 2 bouncers aggressively came up to me and said, "where is your wrist band"? (Unknowingly that i even needed one). I said, "what wtistband? I'm just looking for ----- to see if hes bartending tonight. They said, he's not here today and told me to get the Fu** out. They forceably grabbed me by the back of my coat and PUSHED OUT THE DOOR". I was NOT being nasty at all to them (not in my nature), nor have I ever had any previous confrontations there. They were just plain overwhelmed and nasty because of the crowd and most likely put up with craziness all day long, but there was no reason for them to take out any of their aggression on me at all. Apparently they are charging $20 just to walk through the door and their drinks average, around $10 to $15 and up each, in a 9oz plastic cup. So if you want to spend a small fortune for little to nothing, this is your place to go. They have nothing to offer for a $20 admission. NO live music (just a DJ Spinning Tecno Music), NO Drink or food special, basically, NO NOTHING. In any respect, overwhelmed or not, that is no respectful way to treat a customer. I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I work too hard for my money and I refuse to put ONE CENT over the bar of this inhospitable place. I know a lot of people whereas I am in entertainment and a personality in the Buffalo NY area and known throughout the country promoting my own genre. I may not know enough people to deter that would even frequent this hovel, to put them out of business, but I WILL do my utmost to get the word out to 10's of thousands of my contacts to avoid this place if theyre ever to visit Alexandria Bay. There's more CIVIL ways to handle a situation other than putting addle minded baboons at the door.

Was quick with getting us our drinks and checks. Drinks-had the downtown and pirates drink. Both were tasty and not a bad price. The Bad: Pizza! One of the worst pizzas I have had, especially for one made in a brick-Oven. I expected so much better and was sadly disappointed. Would go back for drinks and a night out at the bar but not for their food.
