We waited 50 minutes for a table. Not worth the wait. Plus, not sure why we waited so long other than they can't get help. There were a ton of empty tables when we made the reservation and when we were seated. The food was ok, not great. I expected an upscale restaurant. This was far from that. The view was good other than the dilapidated walk way and building. Service was lacking and we were served water in plastic cups. When you spend over $80 for lunch and one alcoholic beverage, you expect more. It was way too hot, mediocre service, ok food. We are one and done. To rate our experience, 5 Stars for the ambiance, 2.5 Stars for Food and 2 Stars for service. The Tuscan Grouper was very saucy and the fish wasn't cooked enough for me, the garlic mashed was meh and pastie. My husband had the Salmon which was very good, though the rice and brocolli were very bland. Our server had too many tables honestly as it took a very long time to get a drink order. Met with very dear friend's that we have not seen in close to 40 years for lunch. 45-minute wait for a table with absolutely no explanation as to why there were empty tables where nobody was seated at all the entire time we sat at the bar waiting. When we left, those exact same tables still remained unoccupied. It wasn't a problem, we hadn't seen our friend's in so long, we began to catch u over a couple of cocktails. Service at the bar, I would give a 3 because we were not even greeted with a hello. Cup of Captain's Chowder, absolutely phenomenal, but for $8.00 a cup, it should be! The Roast Beef Melt sounds so delicious, absolutely the worst sandwich the three of us ordered that any of us had ever had! Three out of four of us ordered this sandwich with fries off the menu for $16.00. I can go home and make the exact same thing at home if I took a handful of cheap beef lunchmeat, soaked it in high sodium beef broth all night, heated it in a microwave, put it on a bun with a slice of cheese on it. Absolutely the worse lunch all three of us have ever tasted. This is considered a high-end, high-quality establishment and our friend's that chose it were so embarrassed for suggesting it. They regretted not going to Village Brewhouse like I had suggested when we were walking around the mall. The ambiance was that of a high-end restaurant, but the food was that of a Walmart Cafeteria. I came about 530, the place was nearly empty, and asked for a table, she said she wouldn't seat me, unless I had a reservation, and only wanted to cram me in at the bar. I'm addicted to their bread and butter. One of the main reasons I go there IS for the bread and butter. So delicious! I've tried many different entrees and everything I've ordered has been delicious. I have to say the food was so GOOD!! It came out hot, fresh and delicious. By far the best food I have gotten in Florida. The service was lacking.... We got our drinks and the bill and that's the only time we saw our waitress. We were the only ones out on the deck as it was 9pm, and I think she completely forgot about it. I can't complain because it was really nice having such a peaceful dinner with my husband over the ocean. Would definitely recommend this if you're in the area, however make sure you are dressed appropriately. My first visit to the city of Punta Gorda and we visited the wharf shops and this fine place. Located at the very end of the wharf and on the second floor Captains Table offers inside and outside dinning with a beautiful water view. We came for lunch and I was looking for something different than the normal fish fare. So I ordered the Everglades Jambalaya. While it had the description as being made of Chicken, Shrimp, Andouille Sausage In A Savory Creole Sauce with Dirty Rice. I had once question and the name Everglades just screamed it must have alligator in it. So I asked and was told no alligator. But then they say alligator tastes like chicken. hmm. I enjoyed the savory stew, was told it was hot and spicy, It was not spicy. No big deal they do have to warn everyone these days for everything. It was a darn good jambalaya. Mrs. K. had fish and chips. What can I say they were fish and chips. Almost ubiquitous in SW Florida. They tasted just like any fish and chips I have eaten. Mrs. K. professed to fullness and could not possible eat another bite. That is how I got to taste the fish. We were finishing lunch and our excellent server came up and asked if we wanted anything more? I said no Mrs. said yes. Soooo she ordered Key Lime pie. A little on the pricey side for Punta Gorda, yet fancier than most places between the view and the ambiance (leans toward the romantic). Many different types of seafood appetizers and main dishes. They do have other choices; but that's not the specialty. They have a full bar. At the time we went, a piano player, friendly wait staff - and good food. There's enough variety on the menu to suit everyone - about 12-15 different entrees. I've seen some of the reviews talk about making reservations and the crowds. Sat inside on a beautiful sunny day with 4 other friends for lunch because there were no outside tables with shade. Wife ordered a mojito for 10 bucks that was light on the liquor. I had water with lemon that was refreshing. She ordered the chipolte grouper wrap and I had the grouper sandwich fried. Both meals came with fries. Normally grouper is very mild with a sweet taste, but the sandwich was tasteless. The accompanying tartar sauce helped the flavor a little bit. Overall, both meals were mediocre. Prior to ordering, our group of six asked our server questions and recommendations about the menu. She seemed flustered by this and offered several snarky replies to basic questions. One of her comments to one of us looking for a recommendation was "Do you want me to pick one for you?". There are several better choices for a meal in FV. I lunched here with my grandma last Friday. My grandma is a regular and insisted I order the salad with the COCONUT VINAIGRETTE.... it did not disappoint! It turns out she has pretty good taste. The coconut perfectly juxtaposed the blackened shrimp, the bold Gorgonzola and the juicy tomatoes. So the food seems to be all around excellent quality and flavor. Portion size was decent for a lunch salad, but a little pricey! I dropped a star for the service. We were not read the daily specials that we heard another table getting. And the waitress was a little less than sociable. Also, while the portion size was adequate for me, I'm not sure it warranted the price. While driving around and getting used to our new area we went to The Captain's Table in Fisherman's Village for lunch. We had an enjoyable time sitting inside watching the boats come and go from the marina. The Thai Calamari was delicious but, I'd preferred I'd the sauce was on the side as it did make the calamari limp. We each ordered a sandwich and slip them.
