NY Steak & Eggs

Fantastic breakfast of New York steak and eggs with mimosa while watching polo with family

Inside seating (though we requested outdoors)
Anthony F.

This place is terrible and customer service is nonexistent. First of all, we were celebrating a birthday and requested outdoor seating. A polo game was going on, people were occupying the tables, and nobody wanted to get up... so they told us our table wasn't available and we'd have to sit inside. Apparently, actually holding our table wasn't an option, much less telling all the people who were sitting on the patio not ordering anything to get up and move. So we sat down inside anyway because we were hungry and they immediately asked us if we were ready to order. Someone in our party ordered an appetizer, and then we mentioned we wanted separate tabs... at this, the server got a bad attitude and basically tried telling us she couldn't (or just didn't want to) because of the policy at the bottom of the menu, which was a mandatory 20% tip policy for parties of 8+. I understand why places do this, but we were the only people there actually ordering. Regardless, the attitude was ridiculous. Then we asked for a little time to look at the menu, and were pretty much ignored for the next 15-20 minutes. I can't comment on the rest of the menu because that was about as far as we got, so we paid for the appetizer and decided to eat elsewhere. BTW: $12 for a small cup of steamed broccoli with a splash of buffalo sauce? Well, that's all they made off of us because they lost our business. And hopefully yours, too. Don't eat here.

Totally forgot to post my review on yelp for this place, but see my Google review as well! This restaurant is oh so good! Me and my boyfriend have made it a tradition to come here for our anniversary. Food and service is always a 10/10. We always order the tres amigos which come with queso, salsa & guac (the queso is so good, trust me). The sunset and ambiance on the polo grounds was phenomenal. The margaritas here just hit different compared to anywhere else in the valley. Overall, thank you guys for making our day special. S/o to Giselle for being such a great server to us!!!

Great atmosphere! Went on a Saturday night there was a DJ and a good mix of people dancing and others relaxing on the patio. They have corn hole set up on the lawn which made for fun with families or friends. Menu is diverse (limited GF options) but to the point with a good variety of wines and cocktails. Staff was friendly and seemed to know the locals well. They could have used one or two more bussers to turn tables faster for the servers but understandable for the times. Will be back to watch a polo match from the patio!

Great place to visit on your way home or while in Coachella. Great customer service and they allow pets. Felt very welcomed from the moment we got there till the moment we left.

Beautiful view! TBH I don't remember how the food was but the polo grounds are stunning! During our lunch we saw people riding their horses on the field. I do remember the service being very quick!

Amazing views, delicious food and very, very good drinks. Kudos to the excellent staff! We all enjoyed our lunch today and the service we received for our party of 13. This was a first for most of us, and it was an awesome experience. Prickly pear margarita....AMAZING

Korean barbecue nachos were amazing!

I had the Italica Martini, which had both olives and a lemon twist which I wouldn't have thought I would have liked, but I really did. It's pricey but that is to be expected. Unfortunately, some of the dishes fell flat with our group. One asked our server if the lemon pasta was extremely lemony and she had said no, which just wasn't the case. (I tasted as well just to confirm) I enjoyed my dish which was the ravioli, maybe a little less stuffed than i prefer, but sauce was tasty and the amount served was perfect for me, who tends to eat on the lighter side these days. Others complained about the Bucatini from their dishes that the pasta was a bit mushy. So I think I was the happiest with my food. I'd go back if it was closer just for the vibe, but that being said, it's a little of a trek from Palm Springs and we have a lot of great local spots I will probably go to that are in that price range.

The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. He was incredibly friendly and personable and made sure we were having a great experience. Between the setting, the food, the genuinely attentive service, this as one of those dinners where it all felt elevated. Definitely one of the many highlights of our stay at La Quinta Resort.

Morgan's in the Desert: Disappointment After Disappointment. $400 for Meh…read more After living in La Quinta for four years, we were ready to try Morgan's, as it's one of the last foodie restaurants in the Coachella valley that we haven't tried. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.

A huge shoutout to our servers, River and Cosmo, along with the manager, Jack. They were all exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and warm; making our family feel right at home from the moment we sat down. The hospitality alone would earn five stars, but the food was equally sensational. Every single dish hit the mark, but the Linguine and Clams was an absolute standout for me. The bright, zesty touch of lemon elevated the rich broth perfectly. And then... THE CHEESECAKE. Living in LA, I've had my fair share of desserts, but this easily takes the crown as the best cheesecake I have ever tasted in SoCal. Finding out they have it flown in directly from New York made total sense. Quick tip: while it usually comes with a strawberry sauce, we had ours plain today. Trust me, do yourself a favor and try it without the sauce. The pure, velvety flavor on its own is out of this world! Their wine list is also wonderfully curated with a pretty good bottle selection. We paired our meal with a bottle of Kistler Pinot Noir, and it complemented the dishes beautifully. We will 100% be back, and I cannot recommend Kiki's enough to anyone visiting or living in the area. A true gem

The restaurant was a little warm inside, but it was extremely hot outside, so that may have been part of it. Overall, Kiki's was good. We also ordered a drink that was supposed to include egg white, but it was served without it. After having issues with four dishes and a drink during the same visit, we felt that something was clearly off with the kitchen and bar that evening. We asked the owner, who was sitting next to us at the bar, whether the chef had changed because it seemed like the restaurant was simply having an off night. What happened next was even more disappointing. At first, the owner pretended that he wasn't the owner and said that he knew nothing about the restaurant. After overhearing our continued discussion about the quality of the food and drinks, he confronted us and said, "We don't need patrons like you at our restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants for you to eat at. Why don't you just leave?" We were not being disrespectful or unreasonable--we were simply disappointed with the food and drinks and trying to understand what had happened. Being spoken to that way by the owner was insulting, completely uncalled for, and genuinely hurtful. I do want to make one thing very clear: the staff and bartenders who work at Cork & Fork were wonderful. They felt terrible about what happened and made it clear that they believed the owner's behavior toward us was completely inappropriate. After we left, several staff members actually followed us outside to apologize on behalf of the owner for the way he had spoken to us. Their kindness and concern were greatly appreciated, and this review is not a reflection of them. There are many excellent restaurants in La Quinta, and based on this experience, we will be taking our business elsewhere. We would strongly suggest considering the many other fine establishments in La Quinta before choosing Cork & Fork.
