When the owner heard I was GF he personally came to the table to explain the menu (anything can be made GF!). He also let me know he has been GF for 19 years and assured me they take all the proper precautions to avoid contamination. We stopped on our way from woods hole to Boston Logan. We always enjoy eating at The Cabin, particularly since my wife is very gluten intolerant. The Cabin has an excellent choice is gluten-free offerings and there has never been any problems with gluten reactions with any of them. I also like the selection of sea food, burgers and pizza. The pizza is great. My only issue is when ever I order, if I don't get there as soon as it is done, it sits on a regular little shelf. Not near a heat source what so ever. Some might say that's no big deal. But I eat a lot of pizza from many different places and when your pizza is hot it makes a difference. I wish they would keep the pizzas under a warmer or near the oven somehow. The same with the rest of the take out orders. Nothing is kept warm. This would have been a 4 star review, however despite the fact that we asked for both cocktail and tarter sauce with our $54 fried seafood take out lunch that's all we got was one little tub of marinara sauce. We were too far away to turn back. The food was delicious, would highly recommend it. They need to improve their Quality control when packing. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager. He was apologetic and said mistakes happen. I told him that we probably would not come back, he said "then I don't want to talk with you." We drove over 30 minutes to try this place. My husband and I love to support small, local businesses. The Cabin's food has been consistently good over the last few years. That being said, my recent experience was less than acceptable. Two meals were ordered using Door Dash. The meals came quicker than expected which was much appreciated. My husbands Surf 'n Turf dinner was great as well. My dinner however was lackluster at best and not representative of what I have seen leave The Cabin's kitchen in the past. My meal was the Fried Captain's Combo which consisted of haddock, clam strips, onion rings and fries. The clam strips looked like a handful of potato stick crumbs on top of the meal. I called the restaurant as I was certain a mistake must have occurred. A nice, helpful girl tried to assist me but referred me to the owner, John, who stated they were very busy but would call me back in a few hours. So much for my dinner. I did send a few pictures of the meal for their review. Since the food was ordered through Door Dash they said they were limited in how they could assist me. I like to give credit where credit is due, John did call me back later as promised. John was not customer friendly however, instead he was defensive and non apologetic stating that the picture looked like the 4 ounces of clam strips that were supposed to come with the meal. I expressed my disappointment and ended the conversation since he was unwilling to make good on the $24.99 meal. I will be bringing my patronage to other local restaurants who appreciate their customers and their reputation. read more

My husband and I have been coming to the cabin for 11 years. We love it. Today was our last visit, sadly. This is the third time we have seen Serv Safe regulations not being followed. Today, the prep cook was eating from a personal sandwich bag. Picked his tooth with his finger, then a moment later, put his finger in between his gum and lip to loosen stuck food. At no time did he ever wash his hands, or wear gloves. He was touching RTE foods. (Ready To Eat Foods). Examples, our bread, lettuce, tomato. Flipping another customer's cornbread on the grill with aforementioned dirty, bacteria, germ infected fingers. We couldn't eat this food. We reported it to the manager. He didn't charge us for my husband's beer, even though we offered. We left immediately. Feeling very badly for this affecting our waitress and her tip. We are sad and angry because we love the cabin and their food. John and his staff are pleasant. It's too bad one person ruined for the cabin. read more

I myself don't work in the restaurant industry but my boyfriend does as a GM. The food was good and our female server was super friendly, but the man who we assume was the GM left a bad taste in our mouths because he was our first impression and he was very curt and abrupt with us. It definitely was not a warm welcome like we are used to when we go out to dinner. I noticed the couple next to us got a much warmer welcome. It's disappointing because we haven't went out in a while and usually have a wonderful time interacting with the staff. We won't be returning. read more

The best restaurant for gluten-free/ celiac friendly food. I feel so lucky to have it down the street!!

We enjoyed a delicious gluten-free meal for my birthday dinner last week. What the space lacks on ambiance (very country diner-ish) it makes up for in delicious, reliable gluten-free food options. We started with the Cabin Combo appetizer which consisted of gluten-free options including mozzarella sticks, potato skins, chicken tenders, fried pickles, and French fries. Everything was delicious and tasted nearly identified to gluten-filled options. For dinner I had the gluten-free chicken supreme which was excellent. My husband and sister had the traditional versions of the cheeseburger club and chicken parm. They both found their meals fantastic as well. The hostess was wonderful! After learning I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease she provided all sorts of helpful information. We will absolutely be going back for the hospitality and so I can feel safe eating my meal. read more

Their Salmon salad is delish! Very filling and also the turkey tips dinner. I don't got for their pizza because I like thin and crispy, theirs is not. Found this hidden gem on yelp and the reviews were spot on. Went with the Baked Trio. Seafood was cooked perfectly, well seasoned, and fresh. Lobster Newburg sauce was good but has no lobster in it. Mashed potatoes weren't very warm and kind of flavorless - pick a different side. There are lots to choose from. Most surprising was the cornbread. Being from the South I'm fairly particular about cornbread. This recipe must have come directly from Ree Drummond because it was spectacular. Great complement to the rest of the food. Desserts looked great (I resisted the temptation) and they do have lots of gluten free options if that is your thing. Chelsea was rockin' it with great service. A++ read more

Excellent service and food! My daughter has severe celiac's disease and we never need to worry about contamination here. John, the owner, also has a gluten intolerance and ensures that all food on the menu is offered gluten free or regular. We have been dining here once a week for several years and not once has my daughter had a reaction. The only thing on the menu not offered GF is the stuffed quahogs. Total bummer with quahogs being her favorite, but all the other food is so delicious she doesn't mind. John has also ensured, during the COVID-19 lockdown, that customers could still place takeout orders. The excellent portions remained the same as well which I can not say for other local business. A Celiac's dream when you want something fried, fatty and a lot of it! The Cabin has one of the largest gluten-free menu I've had the pleasure to order from. I wish they had a couple more vegetarian options but they have a veggie burger, quesadillas, salads, fried pickles (thank you!), etc. there's also a big "normal" menu so there's something for everyone. read more

You are welcomed to the Cabin before you even get inside with fresh herbs in the planters outside. When we walked inside, the staff was friendly and extremely attentive. 12 months later, and I have decided to revisit and see if anything has changed. And, I feel disappointed and not disappointed at the same time. Disappointed in the food. Not so disappointed without having any shred of hope that I would be surprised and would enjoy what I ordered. I tried the chicken tenders, hoping that would be a recipe they would be able to easily accomplish. The Tenders are not so tender. They're chewy, dry, and white on the inside and a strange shade of orange on the outside. I read the reviews before heading to The Cabin. I seldom do reviews, but this place was outstanding. I ordered the steak, with spinach and rice pilaf. It was delicious! Cooked absolutely perfect. The service was amazing. Our waitress, Candice, was the best. She was attentive, filling my water glass, offering more Diet Coke, offering to get anything we needed. Just made our stop exquisite. The owner was on hand to be certain everything was just right. Other waiters I overheard seemed to be great. I met a friend there that I hadn't seen in years. He was at the next table, but we were able to chat a bit without disturbing anyone. The place was spotless and just overall wonderful. We traveled a long way (almost an hour) to get there because my daughter highly recommended it to us. Just amazing! Don't let some of the reviews keep you from trying this place. I was thrilled to find out about this place - both my daughter and I are gluten free. The GF menu is extensive, and includes things I've wanted to have for years but usually can't - like buffalo wings, frickles (fried pickles) and specials like coconut shrimp. The rest of the menu was great too. I went with a party of 5, and we were running late and were concerned we wouldn't have enough time to eat - we let the staff know, and they assured us they'd do their best. The food came out quickly and all of it was delicious! Generous portions, flavorful and fresh, and the GF batter is tasty. Waited a very for long time for the waitress to come over after being seated the waitress gave off vibes as if she didn't want to serve us. A table was served before us even though we were seated about 15 minutes prior to their arrival. We understand everyone is short staffed but there's a way to run a restaurant. The owner was very nice and personable greeted every table. We ordered a crème brûlée to share dessert and the sugar was burnt so bad on the top that it left an awful taste in your mouth. When we informed the waitress she appeared to get defensive and stated " well don't you know what crème brûlée is" we told her that we are aware but this was burnt and she gave us a bigger attitude. Also just an fyi you get one free refill on a soda that is priced pretty high at 3.50 and any other refill is half price!! Overall the food wasn't bad except for the crème brûlée... yuck read more
