The scone was only served with a small pat of butter so I suggest paying the extra €0.35 for the homemade jam or marmalade. While I was a little underwhelmed with my breakfast I think I just selected the wrong item from the menu. (It would have been much appreciated if the girls behind the counter had made some suggestions since they could tell we didn't know what to order.) I would give this spot another go and try their breakfast muffins, savage rolls, or breakfast pot next time. Lolly and Cooks wasn't my favorite breakfast spot in Dublin, but it was a convenient spot to grab a quick breakfast if you are in a rush.

We liked it so much, we came back for lunch. The sandwiches are the size of my 11 year old head... And only 4€. You can get the sandwich and pastry Cake for 5€. All bread is handmade and sandwiches are prepared to order. Plain or toasted. Fantastic deal! Lastly, we chatted with the baker himself. He was very friendly and was happy to tell us about his lovely baked goods.

From the luminous pink & yellow signs to the hawker outside with a board, you'd be forgiven for not thinking much of it on 1st impressions. The food I've had there so far have been tasty. Basically, it's a cheap normal quality bakery. It's much cheaper than artisan bakeries in Dublin, but not that much worse. And it's much better than Tesco, but not much more expensive.

The cafe is super cute; one side is more of a restaurant scene with tables, menu, and waitresses and waiters on hand. The other side is more of grabbing something quick to eat and/or drink. I'm more of a blueberry muffin person but being that was not an option at the time I chose raspberry and I did not regret it. My fiancé and I also tried the Irish breakfast (I posted a pic and noted what it consisted of). So awesome! A hearty breakfast was a great way to start a day of exploring in Dublin. The next day, I tried the croissant and scone. They pretty much melted in my mouth. As you walk in the cafe, you could smell how fresh everything was. Anyway, we had planned to drive to the Cliffs of Moher that day and decided to get a couple of sandwiches and saw they had a variety of choices to choose from. I ended up creating my own sandwich; it was super delicious! Even when we ate it hours later, it was still good. We tried the Irish cheese and onion chips and it blew my mind. Yes, this is the enemy of the short fat and balding male rapidly reaching middle age, it is Fothergills, a shop filled with everything from a frankly obscene selection of the most appetising pastries known to man - including those squares of short bread covered with caramel and topped with chocolate.... Excuse me... I need a moment alone... Ahem... cakes... they do cakes as well and jam - I took pictures of the jam shelf, just to show you they take this sort of thing seriously... and quite right too.
