Our family of four visited at lunchtime on August 11th. First impressions were good, but that's where the compliments end. There is a sign at the bar that says drinks need to be ordered at the food counter, and the girl at the bar wouldn't serve me, then did 5 minutes later after we had ordered food. Don't understand. The first beer was like vinegar, but thankfully was exchanged without quibble. Isn't it important for staff to check whether beer is cloudy, or if the barrels are getting empty before they open up in the morning? Then the food!! Simply dreadful. The chicken was an old broiler chicken, and was almost raw, running with blood. Vegetables were cold and hard (not al dente, just uncooked). I know we are supposed to complain at the time, but I chose not to, as I felt that the staff couldn't care less. A lesson needs to be learned here.
My constructive comment? The location and looks are brilliant, so this could be a goldmine. The process of where to order, how to order is just too confusing. There is a proliferation of menus and chalk boards, which just seems too random and haphazzard. It just doesn't know if it is a bar, a self-service cafeteria or a table service restaurant. If it can decide on this, focus on the priorities, train the staff in the basics of catering and customer service, and employ a competent chef, this could be fantastic. If it stays as it is, it deserves to fail. Dreadful on all counts.
A TESCO cafeteria or Welcome Break is 10 times better than this, for similar food offering at half the price. What a shame. read more
