Friendly place, staff are there to serve your burger with toppings of your preference. The home burger (real meat) tasted a lot better than the smaller burger (which seemed to have a ton of filler in it - don't waste your money on this). We all shared the poutine - it's huge - a paper plate full. It's ok but this place I feel isn't the best burger and poutine we have tasted. I do know that a maple leafs player had frequented this place often that his jersey hangs in the restaurant. Small place with tight benches for seating. Seems like a lot of people like it on weekend days.

The Burger Shack Known to be known for the classic burger from the 70s, but if this is what its supposed to taste like, then thank god for me to be born in the 90s. I was curious from the many good reviews. Today was the day i had my fillings done at the dentist, so i was extra hungry. I ordered the homemade 6oz cheeseburger for $6.20, and upgraded to real cheddar for $1 extra. Also got their "thick cut fries" which are apparently a popular sell, they come unseasoned so youll have to do that yourself. Burger: lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, relish, hot banana peppers, caramelized onions, HP sauce (steak), ketchup, mayo. The burger was...large and flat. The buns werent toasted, and were very dry. I couldnt taste the "grill on the meat" or any distinct meat flavour from the homemade patty. The only thing that had flavour was the HP steak sauce which i tasted on the second half of the burger. The caramelized onions were very...raw like. I would have preferred them to be cooked down so theyd be flavourful and soft. The ketchup available at the seating booths were watered down! Beware of this. The fries were crunchy but had a weird pasty aftertaste in my mouth. It felt like i was eating flour dusted fries. Not particularly thick cut...as you can tell from the pictures. End note: Some foods make me go wow and drop my phone, but unfortunately Burger Shack's homemade burger and fries did not. If im eating a good burger, id be all in, both hands, eyes focused, mind focused on the yumminess. Here, I actually held half the burger in one hand and started texting my friend on the other. Also, if this is what it tastes like to a very very hungry person (i didnt eat for the whole day), then i cannot imagine how it would taste when i am regularly hungry. The burger was 7.20, and the fries was 3.90. I paid around 12.50$ after tax. Geeee. And this was meant to be a snack before i go to Kushi izakaya for their tapas and 3$ sapporo pints (after 9pm only). Now im regrettably full and wasted 12$. Should have just gone to A&W one block west. Then id be happy with their 5$ for two burger special. Need a burger recommendation thats not too greasy? Try Slab Burger at Bay/Charles instead: they are bomb.

I love this place, it's got the old school vibe I love. Onion rings = great. Fries = great. Burgers = great. Milkshakes = great. Poutine = great and my go to for this dish in the area. Like that they serve it in those reusable containers, so you can save leftovers easily. I like to eat at Burger Shack a lot in the summer when I can take my food over to Eglinton Park to eat it while sitting on the grass. Winter is tougher and I find myself not eating here as much because I don't burn enough calories to justify going. Make sure you bring cash to avoid ATM fees as they are cash only but do have an ATM if needed.

Classic little traditional burger joint. They even have the round colorful bubble gum dispenser at the entrance. We ordered the 6 oz homemade burger. The other option is frozen, as they explained to us. It is cooked for your order and you can point to whatever sauces and toppings you'd like. They also give you the option to choose from 3 different types of cheese as you place your order, which is nice. The taste of the meat is nice and grilled. The size is filling. We also got a side of fries and a chocolate milkshake which was really good. It seems like there are a lot of loyal customers and a lot of people going in and out to order. We did not have to wait too long. They also have so many drink options to choose from. I was very impressed. Would recommend trying this place out.

Cash only. Got a poutine and bacon burger which I shared with my brother. The burger was good and quite big. You can customize the toppings. The poutine is a big serving size but I would definitely skip it. There were clumps of gravy, the cheese was not squeaky and melted, and the fries were a bit soggy. Wendy's has way better poutine. The store has a diner vibe so it's a little grungy but I didn't totally mind. The service was less than friendly. Overall, not worth a revisit. The burger and poutine came up to just under $20. Way overpriced for the food we got.

While they could certainly invest in higher quality buns with a golden top, the meat patty in my homemade burger was juicy and flavourful. I'm lucky to have this burger place in my neighbourhood. Other than Holy Chuck, Grillies on Bayview and The Burger's Priest, I can't think of any other good place for quality burgers in the neighbourhood. If you're craving a proper old-fashioned burger, I don't think The Burger Shack is going to disappoint you. They their fries too. They're pretty good.

For $6, you can get a nice 6oz "homemade" burger. Add a few more quarters and you can get bacon or cheese with it. They have other burgers as well (classified as "char boiled") but those are 3oz apparently. When the patty is ready, they'll ask you what kind of toppings you'd like in your burger, such as tomatoes, onions, pickles, lettuce, and some sauces. I found the burger to be OK. Some found the meat to be a bit dry. Definitely lots of grease coming from it. Washrooms are locked and require you to request access at the front.

Burger Shack is neighborhood greasy spoon hamburger joint that is run by Greek immigrants. There isn't that many out there any more. In addition to hamburgers, they also serve souvlaki and other greek food. The restaurant decor is pretty run down and the service was gruff but efficient. The restaurant is always busy with many people driving in. I ordered the homemade burger with the french fries and drink. The hamburger was good along with the french fries and drink. The only problem is that it cost $13.50 for everything. Would I come back? I been here several times and the food has always been pretty good.

Let me start off by saying 3 stars doesn't mean it's a bad place. The spot itself is kinda chilly and outdated but that's sort of the idea with a classic spot like this. The homemade burger isn't bad but it's nothing special so off that i can imagine the regular burger is not great. For the price, the home burger isn't worth it. The onion rings on the other hand are pretty good. It's like eating a donut which is not a bad thing at all when you are planning to eat out at a burger spot on your cheat day. The onion rings might be worth it if you are really into that kind of thing but a bit pricey, $4.75. Overall, if you have the money and want to give it a shot then I wouldn't discourage you from trying it out. A homemade burger plus onion rings cost $12.09 after tax

We stumbled upon this place as we were looking for burgers and fries. What a pleasant surprise! The banquet burger we had was wonderful and the size of the bun was "just like the old days". As big as my head, this burger was great. The hot home made fries were crispy and hot. The service we had from both the cashier and the owner (I think) was fabulous. This is definitely a "go to" place and we will drive out of our way to re-visit. Btw - we are somewhat "burger conisseurs", so when we mean great, it is great! Thank you.

Today, I made the mistake of purchasing a goat roti at Randy's on Yonge Street. At 1:20 PM, the place was completely empty. I approached the counter and was met with no greeting, no smile, not from the cashier nor from the two women near the hot table. The roti shell was undercooked, gummy, and doughy. The filling was 95% overcooked, tasteless potato, with only a few tiny bits of actual goat. The entire filling was dangerously well below safe temperature. When I politely requested a small amount of pepper sauce, a full whispered "committee meeting" began behind the counter about how to handle my simple request. After their U.N.-style debate, the final decision was: "Here's a tiny squirt of pepper sauce." Seriously? Penny‑wise and pound‑foolish has never cost a business more. Absolutely shameful.

Whenever someone brings up something foolish that I did in my youth, I touch the back of my hand to my forehead, toss my head back and proclaim "Oh but t'was in my salad days, when I was green in judgement!" LOL. I really should have been an actress! But enough about The Bard and my career choices, what about the food, right? It was good. I had the Salad Days Special ($8.49). It was romaine and iceberg lettuce, sweet potato mash, 2 dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and spices), tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives, feta cheese, hummus, tzatziki, and your choice of chicken, cooked salmon, smoked salmon, tuna, meatballs, smoked ham or falafel. I chose cooked salmon and asked them to hold the hummus. The salad was huge, but the majority of it was lettuce. Still, a really good deal for $8.49. The cooked salmon was a good size, which I liked. It was cold, but still flavourful and didn't smell fishy. I would have preferred it if the kalamata olives had the pits removed, but they were still ok. They have other set salads or you can make a custom salad. Their model is like Freshii, but I like them much better than Freshii. Staff were nice and efficient. So this is the location in Cumberland Terrace, just west of Yonge. They have another location really close by in The Hudson's Bay Centre, just east of Yonge. I like this one in Cumberland Terrace better because there are a few seats right next to it that is only shared with Esther Queen of the Soups customers. It's a bit more secluded. Note that the Salad Days in Cumberland Terrace is not in the main food court area.
