Bison burger with super crispy tater tots.
    Diane H.

Pretty good burgers and super delicious tater tots! Like most burger joints you order at the front and then find a table. I got the Turkey burger and it has a nice char on top but was not burnt. I added lettuce, tomato, and caramelized onions. It was a little pricey and the wait for the burgers was decent, but overall worth it because of the super crispy tater tots. The only thing I would recommend the business is to butter the buns a little bit because they were just a tad dry.

Great burgers. Pricy but worth it. Fried egg could have been seasoned but it was funny and delicious. I'll spend my money there again.

Trust me, it's worth it. They've got a small bar area that seats about 4-6 people, which is where I sat, and honestly that's the move if you like a lively vibe. Now let's talk about the pizza--amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and one of those meals where you catch yourself still thinking about it later. I enjoyed every bite and could've easily gone for another round. Overall, this place delivers: good energy, good food, good people. Definitely a spot you want to keep in your rotation.

It's supposed to be a wine bar, I guess, and the wine is their main focus, though they are also apparently well known for their pizzas. Despite it being busy, we were seated pretty quickly in the back area, and were served quickly. Our waitress was great, and offered a lot of good drink and food suggestions. I love the way the wine is broken down. They've got three categories, which are snarky grouping by price. I am drawing a blank on the names of the categories, and they're not on the website, so .... they were something like, "Wallet Friendly Wines," "I can splurge a little," and "Money is no object to wine!" Theirs were probably better and more creative -- dock me one star as a reviewer for not remembering. :) The wines were good. I tried two different ones, including an unusual "orange" wine, which is a white wine left to contact the skins. It was a little fruitier than I usually like in a white wine, but it was good still. The food for me was where it fell down. I ordered a charcuterie plate, which was honestly kind of skimpy for the price. I also got a burrata, which is served with "harissa roasted carrots." The harissa was incredibly spice forward, and... burrata is a delicious, but delicate cheese. The carrots and harissa basically contaminated it and overpowered it. They might as well have dipped it in coriander and cumin. That's fine if you want to eat coriander and cumin, but not if you want burrata. My pizza was the biggest let down. It's a "rustic" style pizza, but it frankly translates to "poorly made." It's a good size, roughly oval pizza, with very thin, crispy crust. Like a giant cracker. It's then cut into 16 pieces (give or take, don't quote me). Some of those pieces had /nothing/ on them. Like, just crust. No cheese. No sauce. No toppings. Others had just sauce. I'm not a big fan of pizza, but when I eat it, I expect every piece to have sauce, cheese, and toppings on it... if I wanted to eat just crust, I'd just ask for a pile of aperitif crackers. Great atmosphere, good drinks, fair price, but ... terrible food. If I lived nearby, I'd stop by for a drink now and again, but I wouldn't eat there.

Alexander's once before, and it was good enough for me to come back--and it did not disappoint. For this area, the cost was surprisingly budget‑friendly, especially considering the quality. The town center around it has clearly changed, with several stores and restaurants closed and even the old adjacent parking lot gone. But once we walked inside, the experience was excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful, and honest with her recommendations. My daughter and I both ordered the Chicken Palermo, and it was outstanding--fresh, tasty, and served in portions that rival anything back home in Texas. The broccoli was delicious, and I swapped one side for Brussels sprouts, which were just as good.

For a restaurant with a full bar, it was surprising they had no mezcal and were supposedly out of top-shelf bourbon, yet still served me a drink that tasted overly sweet and nothing like the premium bourbon I ordered. Another letdown was the lack of bread service. Other J. Alexander's locations usually serve croissants, so having none available took away from the experience. The food didn't make up for it either. The steak lacked flavor and felt low quality for the price. The "fried chicken platter" was basically oversized chicken tenders marketed as an entrée, and the mac and cheese was watery and bland instead of rich and creamy. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and poorly executed. Between the missing staples, questionable bar service, and underwhelming food, this location did not feel worth the cost.

We started off with biscuits for the table- they were very warm and not too dry- served with a spicy jam & some honey butter. They were sooooo delicious. My main meal was the smoked fried chicken, it is A LOT of chicken lol I got the spicy dry rub on the side to try and it was really good- would recommend trying it if you like a little kick with your chicken. For sides I got the Brussel sprouts which have bacon, goat cheese and some type of nut in them. They were really good and flavorful. I also had the hush puppies which are served with the same butter that came with the biscuits. They were nice and crisp but not over cooked. I recommend both sides. My family seemed to enjoy their dishes as well. My friend had the burger with pork belly on it, my father had the Cajun seafood pasta & my mother had the blackberry thighs. Overall everything tasted great. We got dessert to go, I had bread pudding which I later ate- and it was phenomenal. The sauce they serve with it really brings it together nicely. Definitely heat it up prior to eating if you have it to go. Overall was a good experience and I'm glad we ended up eating here. Would recommend

Unfortunately, he's the only fan. I feel sooo bad being so critical so I'll make it quick. The decor/ambience is so uncomfortably in need of renovation (the wood paneling, sectional seating, and carpet, for starters). They're known for their crab cakes which did NOT disappoint (according to those who ordered them) and TWO THUMBS UP on the salad bar ... which we ALL absolutely appreciated. However, the other food was mediocre and the attached pics prove the simple, low effort, dive-bar quality. It wasn't a total wash tho'! Their portions are respectable. The birthday boy LOVED the carrot cake buttt, the scallops, green beans, crab dip and fried chicken were declared unseasoned and the rockfish bites (strips) were salty. The Chardonnay had vinegar undertones. The Tito's shot was $20 but this is not the type of establishment which can justify charging that! I'm going to stop there because I totally respect their long-standing "pillar of the community, local landmark, generational longevity" claim to fame. This is the kind of meal your mom would cook for, like, a graduation dinner, or if she was trying to impress someone. I've never had a bad meal here, but the crab cakes are the best in Maryland. I know everyone thinks they know where the best crab cakes are, but they are wrong, because the Edgewater Restaurant has them - a softball of jumbo lump crab meat, perfectly broiled with very few added ingredients so the crab shines through. All of the meals come with 2 sides of your choice, including potatoes served at least 3 different ways and a salad bar that isn't even trying to be healthy. Truly, there is no better place in Edgewater for dinner.
