They made the atmosphere uncertainly to be in. We had been informed in the past of their hamburger steak had been named best of in the steak. Well, we had to try, of course Our drinks and lunch came within minutes of ordering. The food came out hot and fresh, always a great sign. The turnip greens were good, but with some drops of Crystal's hot sauce, it leveled up the greens. Some liquor was on the bottom, and did what I was taught to do by some people I had met a couple of decades ago, I soaked pieces of my cornbread muffin into it. It is now my favourite way to eat cornbread with turnip greens. The green beans were still green with a slight crunch, not the most southern way to cook green beans, however, it is definitely my preferred. It was a little sweeter than I liked, but still delicious. Now for the mainstay, the hamburger steak. It was flavourful, and still had a great taste of beef. I did not detect any fillers, which is many people's home method, I think? It had a glossy gravy poured over it, which was even more delightful. Beef and gravy will always be one of my comfort foods. Yum Would I come back here again? Yes, if I were to drive through Magee again

We had the hamburger steak, baked beans, Cole slaw, salad, fries, chicken tenders and hamburger. All were delicious and very generous servings. The shop was very cute and had plenty of homemade goodies. This is definitely a spot we will visit when we drive cross country again! For those with food allergies: I didn't ask about frying foods so my son with seafood allergies didn't have their fries. They do have fried shrimp and some other seafood items and my son didn't want to risk it or make it a big deal. A lot of their snacks in the shop did have nuts. I also didn't ask about a military discount because I was happy to support this Christian America loving small business.

The livers were a little over cooked slaw and bbq beans were good, not much on her corn bread as it was dry tasting. I had the fried chicken (breast and wing) bbq beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a jalapeños corn bread muffin. The chicken was over cooked (all it was missing was a belt buckle). Wasn't impressed with my jalapeños corn muffin dried, bbq beans were good with lots of flavor the mashed potatoes could've used a little more gravy. This is self serve you ordered picked it up, got your own utensils and drinks. This a cute country store and restaurant with a garden center. The dining areas they had to patios o e enclosed the other open both had ceiling fans. Lots of seating but evidently they clean the tables tops you're going to eat at. Needless to say this wasn't the experience we were expecting not sure if we'd return to dine there again

It is only open for lunch from 11-2pm Tuesday through Saturday. We made sure we got in line a few minutes before 11am. Yes a line, so get there early. The doors opened right at 11am and you order from the counter and have a seat. The staff is welcoming and assist with the line and seating to have everything move smoothly. The prices were not bad at all and we got alot of food. The fried chicken is out of this world. A must get. You won't regret it. It is so flavorful with crispy skin, yet moist chicken. Also, it is not super greasy which was my favorite part. I enjoyed the green beans and corn on the cob. The jalapeño corn bread was amazing! My mom got the black eyed peas, mac n cheese, and regular cornbread with her fried chicken. She raved about the black eyes peas. We also ordered banana pudding and Mrs. Pearl's Cheesecake. The banana pudding was my favorite and a great sweet treat to round out my southern meal. The inside of the diner is not very large but does have plenty of seating inside and some outside. While we did not see Mrs. Pearl, her sister greeted us and was definitely running the diner while we were there.
