The fried green tomatoes were excellent! My wife also enjoyed à their fried chicken. We were delightfully amused at the tin pic pan for plates and old tin measuring cups for the drinks. Our waitress kept our drinks full. To be honest, we were too full for dessert, but I spied peach cobbler and ice cream. As expected, it was delicious! So... my grilled salmon was the most well done fish I've ever been served and it was literally crunchy on the outside and very dry on the inside which some might say it was burned. I've had more moist and delicious salmon jerkey than what I was served here. The sweet potato was the really good and the best part of my meal. My mom enjoyed her hamburger steak and sweet potato. We both just drank water and the price for our meals came out to $43.68 which included an odd $1.38 service fee before tip. We thought for the rather small serving size of the entrees the price was on the expensive side. Overall I have no plans of returning to this spot as the food was just meh... I did really like the historic building. It totally isn't fair to compare other places to New Orleans but that is my point of reference and I have to say this area is really a food desert compared to The Greater New Orleans area and Acadiana. They were frying shrimp and catfish when I walked in. $10 for a box of 5 catfish filets, and 10 jumbo shrimp, it was nice and crispy, needed a tad more seasoning, but great price! Catfish was big, and it was flaky juicy goodness. Giant Turkey wing for $2.49 so why not? Add that to my cart I wasn't a huge fan of it, but it wasn't bad.
