It's ok but it needs to be actually caught and not by freezer, I do not like anything that they serve and they are just horrible!!

We enjoyed the fish, chicken tenders, boiled shrimp, and of course the coleslaw.

Salem Opry House - Hamburger Steak

The Salem Opry House is located in a building that was constructed in the 1920s and used as a…read moreschool which they have renovated into their restaurant space. The old building has a nice atmosphere and was the peak experience of my visit here. My dining party was disturbed by the menu listing a $6 upcharge for sharing an entree which I've never seen that before and we don't ever share entrees but it just sounded ridiculous (I have since seen a handful of other restaurants doing this strange practice around this area). So your meal starts out with turnip greens (with pork so I don't eat that), cole slaw and hushpuppies. For our entrees my dining companion (my mom) got a hamburger steak with a sweet potato and I got the grilled salmon with a sweet potato. So... my grilled salmon was the most well done fish I've ever been served and it was literally crunchy on the outside and very dry on the inside which some might say it was burned. I've had more moist and delicious salmon jerkey than what I was served here. The sweet potato was the really good and the best part of my meal. My mom enjoyed her hamburger steak and sweet potato. We both just drank water and the price for our meals came out to $43.68 which included an odd $1.38 service fee before tip. We thought for the rather small serving size of the entrees the price was on the expensive side. Overall I have no plans of returning to this spot as the food was just meh... I did really like the historic building. It totally isn't fair to compare other places to New Orleans but that is my point of reference and I have to say this area is really a food desert compared to The Greater New Orleans area and Acadiana. So much of the food I've tried in these parts is just really bland and to my taste usually dissappointing.

Went to a family dinner for my aunt's birthday. This place is out in the country where you would…read morenot expect a restaurant to be located. Inside does remind you of an old Opry house, with a balcony stage but other than that, it's rustic inside. Service was good. They bring out the Hushpuppies, coleslaw and greens before you order. I would have preferred it came out with my food. I ordered the two piece whole catfish with a baked potato and a kiddie chicken strips plate for my 6 yr old niece. Also added one cluster of crab legs for her. We were a large party so the wait for the food was what I expected but really wasn't too long. What I didn't expect was for my fish to be warm instead of hot. It was also not well seasoned. It had a tangy taste, almost as if they squeezed lemon juice on it before frying it or something. I only ate 1.5 of the 2. My baked potato was very good though. Crab legs were also good. Could have used another cluster. My niece also enjoyed them and her chicken strips too. Overall, it's not a place high on my list to return to eat again. If I go, I will get shrimp or just crab legs.

My husband is a self proclaimed burger afficianado and he said the FB pic looked legit. This place is in a old gas station. It has the vibe of a 50's diner. The servers were all very friendly and efficient. We couldn't decide what to get. Everything sounded amazing. We decided on a Philly (my husband also loves a good Philly) and a fire burger. I wanted him to enjoy his favorites so I got what he likes and we split them. Yall. This food is incredible. I did a happy food dance the entire time. The burger is hand patted and smashed to the perfect thickness. Perfectly seasoned. Just the right amount of fat in the beef. I'm going to keep using the word perfect because it was. A perfect old fashioned diner burger. The bun was toasted and it had battered and fried jalapeños. I normally don't care for bacon on a burger because it can overpower the burger, but they have the perfect thickness and flavored bacon for the job. The Philly is quality shaved ribeye. Not overcooked. Melted cheese and toasted Texas toast. Soooo good!!!! The onion rings were really good. We got the regular fries. Wish they had been hot but it wasn't a deal breaker to have warm fries. We dipped the fries and onion rings in Red's ranch. I could drink that stuff. We wish we lived closer but then again, I have struggles with my weight and this wouldn't help me one bit The pics were after we had split them so they aren't the most appealing pics. Make the drive here even if it's out of your way. You won't regret it.
