Laurel was our planned lunch stop on a long road trip from Up North to New Orleans, and Hog Heaven BBQ was the obvious choice for so many reasons: easy access from I-59 and great reviews, here on Yelp. We were not disappointed. The first sign we'd hit gold was the line of (likely) locals pulling in to the drive-up window. We ordered brisket, pulled pork and the corn nuggets. No surprise that the brisket and pulled pork were excellent (juicy, flavorful, plentiful portions), but the corn nuggets: wow! And it also bears mentioning, the staff treated us like visiting family.

Wings, ribs, brisket, slaw and baked beans

First time here, which I can't believe. Food was really great. Was served very fast and the wait staff was great. Very clean and large dining area. Prices were very reasonable. I went for lunch and ordered the three meats. Wings, ribs and brisket. Had the slaw and the baked beans. Sauce was sweet. I ended up bringing home the family special for $85. Slab of ribs, whole chicken, lb of sausage and pulled pork, 1qt of baked beans, potato salad, fried okra and corn nuggets, extra sauce and a loaf of bread. $94 after tax. 11 people all were satisfied and loved everything. Will be back.

A great Bbq place that you don't want to miss. It's fairly new, in a new very functional building. Clean and friendly. Far enough off the interstate (2 miles from exit 90) its clientele is mostly local. People knew each other but we felt welcomed too. All types of folks were there. And I can understand why: the quality, quantity and choice are impressive. Wonderful smoky, moist pulled pork; impressive beef brisket. Chicken choices abound. Then there are the sides--traditional beans, cole slaw, and Mac-n-cheese certainly but great okra, nicely drained greens cooked with bbq bits, dirty rice, fried corn on the cob. And more to come! For you westerners, they even have jo-Jo's: those slices of a large potato that are coated and then deep-fried. Hard to find in the South (nope, wedges do NOT count), here they call them potato logs. Try them! Quick, efficient, large portions, friendly folks. Man this is the place.

On the outskirts of town but excellent Bar-B-Q. You order at the counter then pick a table. The waitress takes your duplicate ticket and gets your drinks then brings your food when ready. Great pulled pork and really tender chicken tenders. The potato salad is outstanding. The sweet tea needs to be sweeter. The Memphis style Bar-B-Q sauce is exceptional, not too sweet or spicy. The prices are reasonable and you get plenty to eat.

Yelp led us to The Loft and thank goodness we got there about 10 minutes before open because there was already a line down the sidewalk. We got in line and were seated right when the doors opened for dinner. I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant. It had a rustic vibe and a man playing the guitar and singing. The music was great but wished he was a little bit louder. The service was good and were in and out within about 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner. I started with a cocktail - Stormy Laurel. I'm a suckered for any drink with elderflower and it was light and refreshing. The food was delicious! The house side salad was huge and the croutons were so good. I like that they provided plenty of salad dressing. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner with the loaded potato casserole. The shrimp were massive, there were so many, and they were seasoned well and breaded just the right amount. The potato casserole was yummy and had a slight kick which I appreciated. We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert. I liked the white chocolate chips throughout. Come here for a solid meal! I loved the food and atmosphere. I thought there were plenty of options on the menu and everything was priced well.

This is a new joint that I was told has only been open a few weeks. They are located right in the…read moresmall downtown area of Ellisville, MS. My Momma had eaten here before and she reported she liked the pork ribs she ate. During her second visit and my initial visit I sampled the brisket plate and got the sides of sweet potatoes along with the mac & cheese. Now for my part I found the brisket moist although lacking in any BBQ smoke flavor and the sweet potatoes were alright. The BBQ sauce here is of the sweet variety and it was an OK version of a sweet sauce. So after some deliberation Momma decided to get the burger with sides of baked beans along with the mac and cheese. Well Momma was 100% not happy with her burger and she didn't even finish it... Just looking at the burger it appeared quite pathetic and weak as it had the beef patty thickness about the same as a generic McDonald's burger. Momma took about three bites and gave up as she said "this has to have been a pre-made generic beef patty they bought!" To add insult to injury they have a huge sign on the front of the building here that says "BURGERS" so they really need to upgrade their burger game here! So at the the conclusion of our meal both Momma and I agreed the mac & cheese was certainly lacking in the cheese department so we wouldn't recommend ordering that as a side item. Overall my brisket was alright while it would absolutely never win any BBQ competition. To my taste the food was below average for the most part other than most people seem to really love the pork ribs here which seems to be an area they consistently do well with at this joint (I don't eat pork so I have no opinion on the pork ribs). For the general area I will rank this spot a three star but in places with more BBQ options this spot would be two star joint or in BBQ Mecca places like Austin, TX a one star. Another small item of consternation to me here is they didn't have any lemon for my iced tea which so far has been a consistent occurrence in this area at the restaurants I've eaten at which just makes zero sense to me? The folks working here were nice and they did seem to draw a decent lunch crowd. So it generally seems plenty of folks like this place and my taste is certainly different from others tastes so obviously plenty of others seem to enjoy eating here which is fine. Remember to like what you like and I will too along with always remembering we all have different tastes!

Evidently there was a cover charge to go in and see a band that was playing in the back. I have run bars, music venues for many years part of venturing onto my other occupation. Let me just throw my two cents out there... First off we were too young ladies trying to get a night cat before hitting the bed. It's not like there's a lot going on in Laurel Mississippi at 9:30 at night on a Saturday night. We went in and saw where the band was gonna be playing in a really nice outdoor seating area . The band had not started playing yet. We were just going to go take a quick look. Honestly, I'll be really wanted was a nightcap. Had I been running this facility? I would have put the covered charge desk at the other end of the bar where the exit to go to the outdoor seating area was. I think they're losing a lot of business from people who really don't have time or care to see the band. It makes sense to me. They have a great little bar that's not being utilized unless you're going to the outdoor seating area to watch the band. May want to rethink this O
