The Broken Spit in Siler City is an old school country BBQ place, and we had a very good meal. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with baked beans, while my wife had the pulled pork plate with slaw and baked beans. Both were delicious, and the portions were huge. You definitely aren't leaving hungry. As always, food sensitivities are an important part of our restaurant experience. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I manage Alpha Gal syndrome, a tree nut allergy, and diabetes. Our waitress was very nice and genuinely tried to help, but she wasn't particularly knowledgeable about gluten allergies or which foods might be an issue. We worked our way through it and had no problems, but if you have significant food allergies, be prepared to ask questions and advocate for yourself. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from an old fashioned country BBQ joint. Nothing fancy here. The tables are covered with plastic, the surroundings are casual, and the focus is clearly on big portions and good food rather than ambiance. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waitress did everything she could to help us, even though food allergies clearly weren't something she dealt with regularly. It's a good spot for families and would be fine for a casual date, although I probably wouldn't choose it for a first date. The atmosphere also isn't really conducive to a serious business meal. Overall, we really enjoyed The Broken Spit. Come for the BBQ, come hungry, and don't expect anything fancy. We'd definitely eat here again. My wife actually cleaned her plate - this is probably the biggest compliment we could ever pay a restaurant! read more

We came here after visiting a local animal sanctuary. It is a small and friendly BBQ joint. Our server was awesome. The food was excellent, and the portions were huge. I had their burnt ends, which are amazing. They are juicy and tender and covered in the most delicious BBQ sauce. I also had their Brussels sprouts, which were tasty as well. I stole some cornbread from my husband's tray and loved it as well. I will be back when I am in the area. read more

The Broken Spit - Burnt Ends - Barbeque Near Me - Siler City, North Carolina

Stopped here after a long day of softball and absolutely loved it. We took the food to go. The sides are outstanding. Green beans are super fresh, not the canned kind that's soaked in grease. The Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese are also super delicious. Daughter had the chicken and I ordered the shredded pork. The bbq sauce is great. The service is friendly, and the food came out fast. We'll definitely come back. Highly recommend! read more

Small place in the country but well worth the trip! The service was excellent and the food was out pretty quick. Drinks topped off a couple of times. We had the burnt ends, ribs and pulled pork and all were excellent! The hush puppies were way too good! I could have eaten more but they came home with us. Tots were pretty amazing too! Our 11 yr old granddaughter ate the half rack of ribs and only gave us a tiny taste. She said they were the best she ever had. read more

Brussels, barbecue, cornbread and hushpuppies were off the chain delicious. Service was also excellent.

We stopped by here on our way back to Raleigh. Both me and my wife ordered the pulled pork sandwiches... Great choice. 1/2lb of meat on a sandwich with cole slaw! I also ordered the brussel sprouts, also a great choice. Will definitely return when in the Siler City area. read more

This has to be the best BBQ ever! Their sides are amazing and the place has a great atmosphere. Yum.

3pm on a March Sunday. One waitress to care for everyone. 7 Tables. Out of burnt ends and ribs were not done at 4 pm. Ordered brisket sandwich with beans and hush puppies. Since no ribs or ends husband ordered a burger . Unsweet tea was musty changed for water. Brisket was bland dry Bake Beans were good as were the Mac n cheese Slaw was warm like it was under a warmer. Burger was good tasty cooked as ordered. Need more staff. Needs to do a deep clean read more

Literally my favorite place in Siler City, and maybe even the whole county! I always get the brisket sandwich and the absolutely delicious addicting Mac and cheese! Nice local farm and local food, the worker Brittany is super kind and always see her there. Definitely recommend read more

I found this spot on Google... and decided to got it a shot on my way back from camping at the NC State Fair as I headed back to Charlotte. If you don't have the exact address it's easy to miss this hidden gem. We sat inside at a table and a very friendly waitress was able to put in our order in a quick and friendly manner. So here is our highlights: chicken, ribs, sausage, and corn bread was a 10/10. The various sauces were a treat to share on all the different meats that represent different NC bbq flavors which we thought was fun. We thought the brisket could have been a better quality beef but that's being picky. The only thing we would share for others is, maybe eat outside as the flies inside were a bit persistent and maybe some mitigation from management for future customers and improve inside dinning experience. read more

Walked in and was brought right to our table. Asked our drink order and given our menus. Our server was on top of everything. Food was some of the best BBQ that we ever had. So DELICIOUS. This is a local and casual place. We will be back again. This is a hidden gem! read more

Quiet home town place. The food is amazing some of the best bbq I have had. We ordered the sample platter and will definitely order again.

Thank you to yelp and all their contributors!! Another great meal in a cozy little spot! We started with the burnt ends, crispy and delicious with the smoky sauce. Do not be deterred by the word smoky! It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory! We then had the small sampler with Mac and cheese and red slaw. Some of the best Mac and cheese! Should rename it as cheese and Mac because there was so much cheese. Every meat was on point, juicy and flavorful, the sauce platter was great to mix and sample all the flavors. Red slaw was great, hush puppies were a hidden gem with corn chunks in them. Great meal and great service! read more

We stopped in here by luck just passing through. Food was awesome! Had a chicken leg quarter and pulled pork. Both were cooked perfectly. Hush puppies were super. Baked beans were delicious. Absolutely everything you could ask for. Service was quick and the girls were very nice. Dining room was clean and the bathrooms were as well. I will remember this place and seek it out in the future. read more

First visit to the Broken Spit, and I'll become a regular. As good a brisket as I've had anywhere. Tasty side dishes. They also have six kinds of barbecue sauce that are really interesting, individually and in combination. Not only that, our server was friendly and attentive. Prices are in keeping with local offerings. The ambience? It's a good old country barbecue restaurant, just fine for being on Old 421 north of Siler City. (If you want fancy, go to downtown Raleigh and argue with the hipsters.) read more

Wonderful brisket, pleasant service and sides were great too. Definitely being missed out on.

I am giving a 1 Star review strictly for their customer service. They listed themselves as being open for business on Christmas day, yet were not at all open. read more

Worst bbq I've ever had there brisket tasted like pot roast. No smoke ring nothing . There bbq sauce is nasty.

It is a small hole in the wall. Everyone was nice but the food was just ok. Did not seem the cleanest but is one of the only restaurants in the area. read more

This is a great place to get bbq if you like it. Location isn't very great if you're not from around here. But if you like really big portions for a decent price then this us the place. Brisket was incredible and pulled pork amazing. Kids enjoyed the hush puppies, boneless wings and Mac and cheese. The staff was great and not a long wait for food. Did I mention the portions lol? I had to take half the brisket off my sandwich to fit it in my mouth. So if you like bbq this is the place for you. read more

Nice interior and friendly staff. Classic small BBQ joint. The service was quick. You choose the kind of meat you want and the sauce on the side. We both went with pulled pork. Me the sandwich and her just a 1/2 lb. The pork is good even with out the sauce. I got the vinegar slaw which I liked because it's not chopped into a mush. She had the creamy slaw with she didn't like and they took of the bill. Both slaws on the side. The Mac and cheese I had on the side was excellent. Creamy and served in a small skillet. I saw lots of others order it too. The bourbon sauce I had was a great compliment to the delicious pulled pork served on a toasted bun. She liked the pork too and took her leftovers home. The Eastern bbq sauce she did not like and it was just a not particularly tasty vinegar with no spice to it. The corn bread was a sweet one and OK but we both prefer an unsweetened regular buttermilk corn bread that's a bit thicker. We'll be back to try the desserts and other stuff but the meat we had was tasty and I'll definitely be having the Mac and cheese again. read more

Stopped by here with a buddy thinking we were in for a treat. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I ordered the pulled pork and it was very under seasoned and wasn't cooked all the way. The beans were decent as was the Mac n cheese. The server was nice and kept our drinks full. In all honesty, it was probably the worst barbecue I've ever had. This place has potential but for now I wouldn't recommend it. read more

The Brisket was juicy and cooked to perfection, the best I've ever had ! The baked beans were smoky delicious and the hot bbq sauce was just the right amount of seasoning and heat. Wonderful attentive waitresses and delicious Brussels sprouts and tots. The ribs and pork were good but the pork could have been a bit hotter. Green beans were great if you're a garlic fan. I'll be back! read more

my friends and i came around 3pm, it was pretty empty but the hostess was very nice. the portion sizes were huge, you won't be able to find bbq for this much for this price in the city. i ordered the pulled pork sandwich ($13.50) with tots (+$1) and got the smokey bbq sauce with it, i do have to say the smokey bbq sauce wasn't as smokey as i thought it was going to be but still yummy. i also got a side of the loaded mac and cheese (it came with pickled jalapenos, bacon(? i don't really remember), picked onions which i omitted and i chose brisket for my meat) and it was $9 and the added brisket was +$2, but the portion sizes was very big, honestly i could have just eaten the mac and cheese for my meal and still have leftovers to take home. i also ordered a sweet tea and i have to say probably better than your average sweet tea but thats my opinion. overall it was a very good experience. i've included photos of my friends' food as well. read more

Half rack of ribs was meaty and tasty. Fall off the bone and a smoky sauce. Side order of onion rings was huge; more than I could eat! read more

These guys crushed it!!! We had both the brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Both were fall-off-the-bone tender and tasty with just the rub. However, I strongly recommend getting the bourbon sauce! The others (Carolina vinegar... were good) but the bourbon sauce was DEEELicious! They mixed the right amount of flavor with perfect spice. I may need another page for describing the Mac and cheese... get it! We'll definitely be back next time through. Hopefully we come on the all you can eat burnt ends! I missed that as a special because my wife and I were too quick to order. read more

Was driving home to So Pines from Greensboro and got hungry half way so checked Yelp and found this awesome gem of a BBQ restaurant off the beaten path in Silver City. I'm a native of Missouri so I know something about beef BBQ and brisket and burnt ends. I'm telling you this place would give some of KC's best some tough competition! The burnt ends are just spectacular. I don't see many beef BBQ places in NC but this has got to be one of NC's best. I love mom and pop BBQ places and I highly recommend giving this place a try for some amazing brisket and ends and really tasty sides. And I don't know how someone got poor service here in another review, they were absolute nice and polite and as southern as sweet tea and grits! A new fav restaurant for me! read more

Burnt ends was a great choice as a started. They were very tender and full of flavor. The brisket was next. Wow! The brisket was even better. To end, the customer service was great as well. read more

This is truly one of the best BBQ ever. Moved here from California (because California has become a horrible place as the result of the ignorant politicians). Anyway, there is a BBQ restaurant in Long Beach called Naples Rib Co. and so far is the best rib joint ever. We've been looking for one as good or better since and the Broken Spit is the closest found so far. The ribs and brisket is so tender and juicy it just falls apart. The hush puppies are what is expected with southern cooking. read more

The Broken Spit - Burnt ends!! - Barbeque Near Me - Siler City, North Carolina

Best brisket in NC. Just like Ok and Tx. Man it is so good. And our favorite waitress in town!

This unassuming little spot was delicious. Try the hush puppies - they aren't your basic ones these have corn kernels fried in and come with a uniquely spicy dipping sauce too. The pulled pork 1/2 lb portion is huge but yummy! The macaroni and cheese was excellent as were the waffle fries. Our server was friendly, prompt & knowledgeable she made suggestions as we ordered and answered all of our questions as this was our first visit. The red slaw was spicy but I enjoyed it. The crew I was with loved the burnt ends as well. We didn't order dessert as we were stuffed but we will definitely be back soon. Be sure to download their app to earn loyalty rewards too. I only wish it had been a bit cooler but it's NC, the building was older and its summer time so no biggie! read more
