Griddle 145 was widely regarded as one of the Lehigh Valley's best brunch spots. They closed in December and reopened in January 2026 with a new dinner-only concept: The Broken Record, with plans to add lunch and brunch down the road. The vibe lands somewhere between The Shelby (Allentown) and Orchid (Bethlehem)--modern, dark, and chic, with an open layout and subtle nods to a recording-studio aesthetic. It's a polished space that clearly had thought put into it. Jerry, the GM, is warm and welcoming, and even during a soft opening the operation felt well-staffed and energetic. While some team members are still finding their rhythm, there's a solid core of seasoned staff who keep things moving smoothly. The bar is clean, new, and comfortable, with plush seating and cleverly tucked-away TVs--present enough to catch the score, discreet enough to keep the focus on conversation. We opted for small plates from the elevated pub menu (stone-oven pizzas, tacos, salads, sandwiches). While I plan to return and explore more of the menu, this first round was, unfortunately, underwhelming. Zucchini Fries - A familiar dish, but fried perfectly and arguably the highlight of the evening. Tempura Cauliflower - Fun idea, but overly breaded, bite-sized nuggets paired with an "aioli" that leaned more toward tinted mayo. Ahi Tuna Tostada - Fresh and clean, though awkward to eat and missing a bit of cohesion. Skirt Steak Frites - Poutine-adjacent in concept, but ordered medium and arrived well-done and quite gristly. Heavy butter application didn't help. Mushroom Risotto - More mashed-potato texture than risotto. Pleasant flavor, but not true to form. That said, I'm still rooting for this place. As a fan of their Blanche de Bruxelles wit served in a frosted glass, I'll be back to spin the menu again--hoping to add The Broken Record to my regular rotation... or confirm that it's still skipping.

Service was too notch. The BR has a great tangible energy. The cocktail program is aces! The food offerings are wonderful. There is a reason everyone at the bar is having fun. The bartenders are engaged and very attentive. This is a wonderful spot for small plates and cocktails.

This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Trexlertown! I started with the mushroom risotto and it was incredible. Moist, heavy creamy risotto with fresh wild mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Add some protein and this could be a full meal! I then ordered a house sandwich. Portobello mushroom, roasted red pepper, a pesto aioli on a crusty ciabatta bread. It's crusty, flavorful, and perfect if you are looking for something lighter on a hot day! The dish came with chips, or you could do a salad or potato. The chips were seasoned and while I never figured out what they were, they added the perfect flavor to a sandwich. Everything in the restaurant was aesthetically perfect - all the way down to the drinks themselves. The waitress was attentive without overbearing and made sure we had what we wanted without the constant interruptions. If you're a fan of Shelby, this is a great alternative, with a bit more down to earth options without sacrificing the flavors!

We went for the second time and it continues to be very good. They make some interesting drinks and have many menu items that are very good. We had mushroom risotto with shrimp added, fried zucchini ( a bit overdone) and a mushroom pizza. In fact we took another pizza home - so good. The servers are very nice and we loved the decor and the music. Fantastic! We'll be back.

House chopped salad and truffle fries

Stopped in tonight to grab a little food, this is my second visit here and the place is only getting better! I ordered the house chopped salad and an order of their truffle fries. I have no complaints and only compliments! I sat at the bar and everyone is very welcoming and attentive. The place is quite busy but it's a good sign of a new spot being welcomed to the area! The music and ambiance is very fitting for the theme. Definitely a great place for a casual meet or a date night! Check out Broken Record! You won't be disappointed!

When we arrived and saw that they were in a shopping mall, we were thinking about looking for somewhere else.... Boy I'm SO GLAD that we didn't! We arrived around 12:30 and they were packed - we were able to get a table outside (bar and inside dining area were too noisy for us)! Our server, Ariana O. was great! My wife enjoyed her Flamingo Fandango drink ($ 14.50) with the Torta Ahogada ($18.95) - both were delicious but the sandwich was very messy - better eaten with a knife and fork - and absolutely delicious as were their French fries that she had! I ordered the Beef "Cubano" sandwich ($ 17.95) with a side of golden beets ($ 2.00 up charge) glazed with the same horseradish sauce that was on the sandwich (Ariana's recommendation). Both were wonderful and we shared tastes of each other's items! It was worth the drive up and the impending drive back!!! We also shared a Dark Chocolate Custard pie that featured an Oreo type of crust with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate as a topping - it tasted wonderful but I felt a little on the small size for the $ 12.95 price! All things considered, I would make the drive again to go back to experience the other items on the menu but as was suggested, I would definitely make a reservation for lunch and definitely would for dinner! FYI: their menu is seasonal so you want to view it online before you go!

I was initially on the fence about it since its in a shopping mall surrounded by chain restaurants and a wax salon, but I figured if it looked bad inside there was a Smashburger nearby. How wrong I was! The inside is absolutely stunning, what a beautiful space. It took a while to be seated since it was a holiday weekend but when we did we had a beautiful view of an indoor sunroom. We got the potato pierogi to start, which was fantastic, and my dish was the tofu scramble (with fruit as a side). The scramble had a surprising sweetness that was not unpleasant and was quite a large portion. Our server was great but he had a very strong and vibrant personality - which I did not care for when I first sat down and was tired and hangry, but he was great and won me over at the end, haha. Anyway, try this place, its amazing and next time I am in Allentown I will be back for sure.

In the area for work and it's dinner time! I did some Yelp'ing and ultimately landed on a nearby…read morespot with a high rating! I know nothing about this place and the pictures looked good, so here's how things went at Notch Modern Kitchen & Bar! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off of a semi-main road is this gem. It looks like nice house from the road, but once you pull into the driveway and go around the back you'll see a private parking lot and the main entrance. Once inside you're just welcomed by moderately high ceilings, wide open spaces, intimate lighting and soft music. This place felt so modern, up-to-date and comfortable. It was a Monday in July at 7:00pm but the restaurant wasn't busy. I didn't mind so my co-worker and I sat at the bar. Service: I can't remember the name of the gentlemen who took care of us, but we had no issues whatsoever. I really gotta start writing down the names of folks who take care of me. Sorry guy. Food: First up were the Buffalo Egg Rolls which consist of tender braised chicken, Frank's hot sauce, smoked gouda, cream cheese, and ranch. These were hot, crispy, flavorful and definitely hit the spot. Next up were the Notch Confit Chicken Wings which are slow-braised in duck fat then flash fried and served with house ranch dressing and choice of sauce. We chose Bobby's BBQ Secret Sauce which was rich, hearty, peppery with a low-level of spice. The wings themselves were juicy, CRAZY CRISPY and quite sizeable. I was a big fan of these. For my entree I went with the Pad See Ew which is pan-fried wide rice noodles, with broccoli, egg, peas, snow peas, garlic, and carrots with a light and sweet soybean sauce. It was delicious, tender, juicy, not too heavy and I really liked it! I was actually really surprised me with how Thai-focused this restaurant was and how well everything was executed! Value: Buffalo Egg Rolls = $16.00 (3 cut in 1/2 yield 6 pieces.) Notch Confit Chicken Wings = $17.00 (8 pieces.) Pad See Ew = $18.00 For the quality and atmosphere that this place exhibits, it's totally worth the money here and I'd 100% come back to try out some more things! In conclusion, I loved it here, it's well-deserving of its high Yelp rating and I look forward to revisiting in the future!

The…read morerestaurant was very modern and had a sophisticated flare to it while still staying family friendly. I started with the lobster roll bao buns. Creamy lobster on top of nori inside of a light and fluffy bun. It was a fun twist on a classic bite. For the main I ordered the wagyu burger. I ordered it rare and it was not the right call. The burger was so thick that it didn't get a great sear on the outside and was falling apart. I did hear a waitress recommend medium well due to the size and I would definitely suggest that to anyone who tries it. It had a great flavor so I would still recommend you try it. I also ordered the notch fried rice bowl. Chinese sausage, pork belly, peas, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, broccoli, egg, bean sprouts, togarashi spice, and topped with a dippy egg. This dish was savory, Asian fusion cuisine mixed with something that felt like comfort food. If you go here, this is what I would recommend you try, but their whole menu looked incredible. This is a spot you need to add to your list of places to check out.

First, there were rain and thunderstorms in the area the entire night before they played, but instead of moving inside they stuck them outside because the rain was "going to stop" according to the owners. Secondly, the owners rudely walked up to the band and cut them off in the middle of 4 straight songs due to them apparently being too loud. From where we were sitting, the band actually sounded great and had pretty low volume compared to other bands I've heard. Several other customers around us and people watching them perform were visibly frustrated and appalled at the way the band was treated. The bottom line is, If you have a noise issue, don't have bands. On top of all this the service down by the pavilion was miserable. Nobody was waiting tables or asking people if they would like to eat, and the tables were very dirty. And the food is very bad and quite expensive. My girlfriend got sick from the food she ordered. Please do not make the mistake of bringing a band hear or eating here.

Overall - (4.25/5)…read more Service (1/1) - I don't often start with service in my review but it's worth starting off here for a good reason. The server was very well informed on the dishes and recommendations on the drinks that paired well with my meal. They were very attentive and always ready to assist when we needed anything. They provided a fun time for me and my family. They are one of the main drivers for me giving a high rating for this place. To the owners, your servers are amazing; they definitely need the recognition. Setting (0.75/1) - overall, the sitting is really inviting. The modern table and chairs help create a very open vibe and showcase the art pieces on the wall. It also allows for the view to the bar and servers so they can come by when we needed them. I couldn't give full points yet as they were missing a proper signage on the outside. We were a bit confused on the location as it's inside Delta Hotel. Once we came closer to the hotel, we saw a banner with the restaurant name. This can be improved further with a permanent signage that can show customers the way to the restaurant from all the way from outside streets as it's really tucked away behind other businesses. Food (1.5/2) - the food felt fresh apart from just few things. The pani puri was top notch, guava spicy water was the highlight for both me and my wife. Really well spiced and a hint of guava combined well with the alternative mint flavored water. Each shot was taking me back to the streets of India. I would come back just for this combination again. However, after having the spiciest food first meant that I did feel rest of the food was under spiced. Thecha paneer was good. The sauce paired well with the tandoor paneer but it can have more spices for sure. The paneer angara was also again good but felt can have more heat to it. But I still enjoyed it well with the butter naan that is eggless. Now for the parts that can improve. The spinach artichoke dip didn't feel fresh or authentic. Kids liked it but to me it felt grainy and cold. The fries were normal. Nothing bad about it but nothing great either. Lastly, the avocado chaat is a great concept and I would have enjoyed it more had it not been for it being over seasoned with salt. There was just too much salt there. Drinks (1/1) - I forgot the name of the drink but it was really awesome. I'd like to try their other mixes for sure next time. Overall, I enjoyed my meal with my family. Even though it felt weird to think I might be in the wrong place, I would come by here next time. Props to the chef and servers who took care of us really well.
