Loved watching the bakers prep the dough while waiting for the hand pie to be warmed up. I got the one with egg and cheese and it was flaky and delicious - exactly what I needed that day. I also got the French butter (they mentioned using it in their sandwiches and I believe it's very generous of them) and spelt seeded bread - so good but needs lower heat compared to other bread I toast. The space is not large so it's mostly take outs. I'll def be back!

Stopped by here as I've always noticed the place but it was always closed every time. Finally was open so I knew I had to pop in and check it out. Their main deal is sourdough, so I went and got a cheese sourdough danish, recommend by one of the employees. And when I say it did not disappoint, I mean it DID NOT disappoint. The sourdough gave it a unique taste, but the breading was still flaky, airy, and such a good contrast to the cheese filling on the danish. The filling wasn't super sweet and played with the sourdough crust. I'm so happy I was recommend this. The chocolate chip cookie had little sea salt sprinkled on top and, similarly to the danish, had a great balance between sweet and savory taste. The cookie had a soft interior texture and the chocolate was like a dark chocolate so it wasn't too sweet. That's exactly how I like it, so it was perfect for me. Will definitely come back and this time order some actual sourdough and another danish.

Blessed to have this wonderful bakery in the neighborhood! First off, Lauren was beyond welcoming. The selection of pastries is exquisite, with the highlight being most of them contain sourdough. This adds a wonderful flavor and texture - we adored the danish as well as the cookie. Excited to try their croissant, hand pies, and loaves soon!

Great place to pick up breakfast on the way to the office. Good breakfast sandwiches and good coffee.

Spelt sourdough is out of this world. I can't wait to try to try everything. The quality and freshness is top notch.

Ask the Community - The Brewer's Bread

Is there a place to sit and eat in the business? Do they offer and lunch items?

They don't have tables, although I've gotten things and just stood there and ate them. They do have sandwiches and hand pies, both sweet and savory. So more a snack than a full lunch.

As a SF native I am very picky about sourdough, and it's almost non-existent in Portland.

Crispy, airy, buttery and oh, so delicate, my raspberry cruffin was the dessert dreams are made of! If you've never had a cruffin... what are you waiting for?! It's croissant dough baked into a muffin shape. And the particular version I ordered today was filled with sweet and creamy vanilla custard and raspberry jelly. My mouth is watering describing this now, a true sign I'll be returning to experience this delicacy time and time again. There are three locations of Twisted Croissant in Portland, and this is the only one I've visited. The interior has a classic Parisian bakery vibe, clad in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. The bakery case in front of the store is beautifully stocked with fresh pastries, perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee or tea. However, be advised, there are only two tables in the back of their public space, so it's not particularly inviting space to sit and enjoy your breakfast. Given the location, I assume there is outdoor seating in the summer months, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, run here if you haven't been. These baked goods are worth the visit!

Come early because they do run out of pastries. Everything I've ordered has tasted great. The croissants are especially good. Very flavorful and buttery. Lots of unique flavors too, and in the macarons as well. The space itself is small with almost no seating and it's too crammed to form an appropriate line. You have to balance on small steps at some point. Not ideal. I would normally give this bakery 4-5 stars, but I think they deserve only two stars for my personal experiences. The staff has never been all that friendly, and on my last visit (and last for a while or ever) one woman was so rude to me I was so shocked I just stood there with my jaw hanging open until I finally regained my wits and just stepped away. I don't even know what caused her attitude, I had ordered and paid, but she didn't like how I was waiting for my bag of food, I guess. I don't know. But I won't be going back anytime soon even if I lived in Portland. Bummer because it's very tasty.
