If you are a coffee and horror movie lover then this place is for you! I am and let me tell you how absolutely cool this place is. It's a horror theme coffee shop-yes that's right! I tried the firestarter which was a hot latte with a spicy kick and an iced vanilla latte which were both flavorful and tasty. The decor in itself is enough to get me back in but the coffee was good too and the staff very friendly. I didn't try the food so no review on that but looking forward to try something next time. read more

Walked in here for the first time today. It is on my way between doggy daycare and home. Saw it a few times on my drive, but never had time to stop in. I also don't drink coffee, so trying a new place to make my London Fog brings on anxiety. Such a cool place! Fun but laid back vibe, and they make a killer London Fog with oat milk! If you love horror movies, you MUST check out the Brewed! Located in Avondale, this coffee shop is horror themed and decorated with old movie posters, paintings, memorabilia, etc of horror movies. While there, I tried their seasonal latte, the Firestarter (yes it had some spice to it and it was so good), as well as an apple pie pop tart. There's plenty of paid street parking, and it was a great spot to work from (lots of seating and outlets). read more

Wonderful service, even when they are busy, which they always seem to be. Great location neighboring a fun sci-fi store. My latte was perfect, and my friends liked theirs as well. Not really a regular Yelp reviewer, but Bric-a-Brac and independent artists score another win thanks to The Brewed. This spot is a mecca for cult-horror and caffeine enthusiasts alike. I spent a couple hours here talking to the owner and drinking coffee-- which is excellent. I had a million questions and Nick (one of the partners) was always happy to oblige. I did my best to let them do their job, but perhaps I should get a star taken off my badge because I was so curious and kept asking questions. This place is so cool! Coffee is scary good and the ambiance is perfect. I really like the ghostbusters phone and all the other amazing horror relics. I had no clue it was right next to a record store so perfect spot to grab a coffee and then browse some records. I highly recommend you support this small business. read more

to get the bad stuff out of the way first: i'm not sure what it is, but three of the four times i've been here (three being within the last three months, once being when they first opened), the baristas have just seemed really unhappy to be there. maybe it's because i've always stopped in in the afternoon and they're just tired. i've started avoiding this place, though, because i feel like i'm making some horrible social transgression by...ordering a beverage and pastry? a small thing, overall, but it does make this not a 5-star cafe for me. everything else about the brewed is great, in my eyes. fun + quirky decor, with drinks to match. great pastries, and they're usually still stocked up in the afternoon. they don't absolutely BLAST music like it's a nightclub, and there's plenty of seating. the bathrooms are kind of odd ("gender neutral" but really they just changed the signs on gendered bathrooms), but clean. i've yet to try their coffee, but the have a great selection of non-coffee drinks and i've enjoyed all i've tried. i don't really come to cafes to get work done, but this is definitely more of a hangout place than a work place. read more

Roasted: new coffee shop Avondale on Milwaukee Ave. It's a nice corner spot and has plenty of seating inside. I love the vibe of this place. It's horror themed so it's filled with horror movie posters and decor. Love the look and feel of this place. Baristas were friendly and helpful. But they didn't greet us when we walked in. They had for here cups and plates which is great to see. They serve food from sugar moon and donuts from brite and had a good selection of offerings for breakfast. We had the sweet potato onion item from sugar moon and it was just amazing. Only downside is they warmed the item up for us but it was still cold when we ate it. I need to check out sugar moon now. They have one sugar free option which is sugar free vanilla so that's good. Neither of us got the sf vanilla in our lattes which is a bummer because we requested and paid for the vanilla but got plain lattes. Lattes were good though. They use half wit which is not my favorite but despite that - the lattes were tasty. Latte art was lacking but I'd drink another latte from here. Great vibe and atmosphere here - that alone is worth the visit. Good coffee but not great. Unroasted: I love when new coffee shops open up in walking distance to me. I saw this place opening up and wanted to give it some time before we went in to review. Walking in I got buoyed the vibes off the bat. If you are into horror, this place is a must. The place looks amazing with the glass cases to the reconditioned booths. The checkerboard floors and the mural walls. This place looks amazing. The staff was super friendly and were able to answer our questions. Pastries from sugar moon and brite look so good. Ordered the usual and got a sugar moon sweet potato pastry. Happy about the sf option. Order was up in about 3min in a mug and latte art! At first taste I loved the velvet smooth foam which is a good sign. They use halfwit beans so it's a lil green to my taste but what I was disappointed with is that it was missing the sf vanilla. The coffee shot was pulled correctly but it missed the mark in the order. Now the pastry was so good but it wasn't warm at all. It was pretty much cold and it tasted great but these are things a coffee shop should have gotten on the first try. All in all I enjoyed my experience and will try again after a few months. read more

I love supporting local business especially because I live in the neighborhood but unfortunately this one is a dud. I ordered an iced cold brew with hazelnut and oat milk, easy enough right? Now I'm no professional barista but know a thing or two about a coffee and milk doesn't belong on the bottom. Did you make the oat milk yourself and that's why you skimmed out on it? Hazelnut where? Didn't taste a thing. I also purchased an almond butter and jelly pastry at 2pm and it was as hard as a rock. I came home to up the $10.75 I just spent. It's a no for me. read more
