The instructors are really great about helping with adjustments so you get the most out of movements- so if they are giving you lots of adjustments in the beginning that is totally normal. I am down 1/2 inch in my waist and feel strong. I also have more energy. I am also waking up muscles and learning to recruit them. The studio is beautiful. Immediately when you enter, shoes go to the left. There is a variety of clothing, including "sticky socks" or "grip socks" which are needed for class (you can buy these ahead of time or in store- they run about $18). There are also skincare and other fantastic smelling items from a woman owned brand (this Pure Barre is woman owned too). Towards the back is the check in desk. The barretender and instructor will greet you there. Be sure to tell the instructor you are new (if you are) so they can pay special attention on your form. There is a bathroom all the way to the back. To the front right is the studio, and behind it are lockers and equipment. A whiteboard will show equipment needed (and this is wiped down at the end of class). The class itself is fantastic; there are 4 total formats; they move quickly and have great music- it's completely normal to shake- in fact it is a good sign. Classes somehow fly by for me- and I usually do get an endorphin rush. Instructors are high energy and super nice. They give clear instruction and do an excellent job of making sure your form is at its best. Other clients are super nice and if you let them know you are new, they are very motivating; some of them are thousands of classes in! If you are on the fence about whether to give Pure Barre in Oakley a try I would definitely recommend it- and if you stick with it you will love it!

They push us to keep working and call out our successes in class. Once you start going regularly they call you by name during class, and they're always there to help you modify exercises if you need to. If you want a great workout from teachers who care professionally and personally, then this is the studio for you! They have done an incredible job adjusting to the reality of COVID-19, too. We have classes online that we can watch anytime, and they interact on the Facebook page with workout tips, life updates, and funny content. Turns out this location only has hot Pilates. There are no hot yoga or regular temperature classes at this location like mentioned on the site. And you can visit other locations for $5 if you have a membership but i chose this location because it was convenient being only 5 minutes from my home. The rest are just too far for me to commit to going regularly. The class was also super packed. They marked pretty much every available sqft in the room to make sure as many people would fit as possible. There wasn't even enough room for the instructor to demonstrate the exercises which makes the class hard to follow. And Pilates isn't really Pilates without proper instruction. There's also barely any parking so i recommend arriving 10-20 minutes early to find some. Really the heat was the best part of the class other than that i would not recommend until they decrease the class sizes and offer more yoga classes instead of just hot Pilates all day which is why I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. The dance cardio classes are my favorite: imagine dancing during a night out but you happen to get a work out in! They have custom DJ mixes and a fun light show during class. This year, Jess opened her flagship studio in Madisonville, and it is just incredible. You are greeted upon entering by a huge disco ball and the wonderful front desk staff. Then there are 2 studios, the Mainstage, where all the dance cardio and other cardio classes are, and the Backstage, where yoga and barre usually are. There's also a playroom, and child care is offered most mornings. All the instructors are amazing, you can't go wrong with anyone. If you need a place for your kid's birthday party or if you need an event space, they often are renting it out for that as well. I cannot recommend Dance Factory Fitness enough!

As luck would have it, I won a 5-class pass from a Clear contest (I like contests and free stuff). I decided to check out a MOVE class without telling any of these friends because I wanted to experience my first class as if I was a new student. It was great! I love that the studio is small and mirror-less. There are ballet barres on each side and Annie, the owner, provides doubled up yoga mats, which you use for kneeling and lying on to do repetitive leg movements. But if you want to bring your own mat, go for it! Her music is a spot-on reflection of her personality and Amy B is right, she curses but you're doing it under your breath ;) In terms of cuing, she always reminds you when to point and flex your foot, which matters and if you want the details, ask her after class. With room for 4-5 students in the studio, you won't be able to cheat yourself and give up on the moves. You'll leave the hour class sweaty and pumped that you used all those little accessory muscles. Clear also offers restorative yoga, which is yoga at a slower pace and you hold the moves longer so you do actually work to keep the poses, but it is great for runners or those who have workouts that a little harder on the body. I had a great TRX class in which Paige tailored the moves to each of in the class since we weren't all at the same level of use. She also did a great job of telling us which body parts were working, how to move through and want postures to maintain (if no one tells you, you need a maintain a strong core). Clear is a small, but mighty studio that offers a variety of classes in a very welcoming tone, where the students come to know each other by name.

What I got was an amazingly small class with a super energetic instructor and an intense workout. Heads up: Annie is a lot of fun and is totally herself... complete with potty mouth. She says those curse words that you're thinking during that last leg lift at the end of your 6th set when every muscle is shaking. Maybe don't bring your Grandma unless Gram is down with the unfiltered expressions. Parking is metered on street, and there was plenty when I went after 6pm. The door to the class is accessed through the gym on the corner. Just head on in and hang out until Annie comes to welcome you into the studio. The studio only holds about 4ish students comfortably so you get a very personalized experience! The MOVE class I attended worked our butts and guts and the fun music mixed with Annie's commentary made the whole experience incredibly enjoyable! I felt muscles I didn't even know existed and will definitely be back to get those newly discovered muscles into shape!

It used to be $14 a class but now it is part of your membership and open to anyone who can at least get a spot in the class. Here's the kicker, you have to reserve two weeks in advance. And it can literally fill up less than a minute after the reservation's open. You definitely have to be on top of it! I've also been making use of the eGym. Basically I wear a rubber band that has a chip in it and I can log into every machine and it memorizes where I'm at and increases as needed. That's been good! It can get a little busy at times though. I feel like it caters to more of the older crowd which is fine and I rarely ever see younger people using it. But it's good for me! Keeps you on my toes and I don't have to document my weights on the manual machines and know exactly where I'm at every time. Still giving it five stars for everything that we get for the money!
