Coffee shop... yes! Bar... yes!…read moreWe stopped by downtown forest city and wanted to enjoy a coffee. This looked like a cool spot. It's a coffee shop during the day, serving coffee, espresso, and specialty frappes. They have some protein bars and snacks as well. It's a bar at night. They have drafts on tap, and a whole section of bottles and cans for you to explore. A lot of what they have I've never seen before so it's a pretty cool collection to try. The ambience is dope! Cool seating and furniture. It would be cool to meet up with friends at night and enjoy the atmosphere.

The crowd there is very accepting and welcomes every newcomer with open arms! They encourage an atmosphere of healthy communication and friendship! You won't find trouble or fighting there like you might at a lot of other bars at night. Easy access to a pool table gives you casual entertainment, as well as the bar sporting an arcade style bowling game and three separate TVs for watching pretty much whatever you are in the mood for. A Touch Tunes jukebox on the wall means that you can play any song your heart desires while you grab a cold one from their wide selection of beer and small selection of wine. Every once in a while, they have a fish fry hosted by a local fisherman who cooks on site, and on holidays, they offer food as well. Occasionally, they have a food truck on site. Not to mention, they have a small selection of snacks and sodas stocked at the bar at all times. Wednesday night is APA pool league night, and they welcome players to join their team, The Twisted Ducks, whether you are new to the game or an old pro. Saturday nights are Game Night and karaoke, and you can expect some great singers in the house. They offer a selection of board and card games available for you and your friends to join in on, of which the most popular are Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up! If you haven't checked this place out before, you're missing out. It looks daunting from the outside, but once you're in, the mood is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is a friend there, just waiting to connect with you! You should go down there and see what kind of fun there is to be had down by the river. You won't be disappointed!

Heirloom Travel Tip:…read moreAvoid the Sports Bar - this is easy to do. Do visit the Heirloom restaurant - Pleasant date night with your wife. Ambience, ambience, ambience and NO tvs. Hannah was our pleasant young server; I asked Hannah to confirm that she is a lifelong resident of Spartanburg, and the pleasing Carolina voice was a moral boost. Earlier we had enjoyed the Kentucky voice of Angel- both girls were angels. Heirloom has a small menu and a small dining room, but extra large hospitality. Because of a buffet lunch, we settled on burgers - No, cannot prepare medium rare. Very possibly menu items have spent a good deal of time in the freezer. Heirloom is on our way to weeks autumn and spring at Hilton Head, so we shall revisit. Merits 5 stars (not for food) for neat dining experience.

Waited quite a while to place and receive our order By the time food arrived, it was no longer warm. Fries were stale and cold. Food was sub par, burger dry (odd when it had sauce but somehow still dry) falling apart, and not much flavor. The Philly (if you can call it that) was packed with meat and just a drizzle of the cheese sauce, leaving it dry as well. The meat itself on the Philly was dry and had almost an old burnt taste not a smoky flavor. A shame because I've been here numerous times in the past with no issues. I'll stick to the downtown Spartanburg location from now on...
