Heard very great things about this pub and have ordered take away before (their nachos are great and comes with cheese sauce on the side)... however would not recommend dining there. Brought a large group here for dinner expecting good food and service. The service was slow and not at all pleasant. One of my guests has temporary dietary restrictions for gluten and was unable to have the wings because they are breaded, so asked about a burger on lettuce bun ( not uncommon especially in Hamilton). Server responded that they only carry shredded lettuce (great, another restaurant that buys every ingredient premade, ew). Shortly after ordering, my guest decided to change his order but the server said it's already with the kitchen, and did not change it for him. When the burger came out, it looked pathetic! A sad looking patty on a bed of lettuce and two tomatoes on top. No cheese.. nothing extra at all. Which would be fine.... if this wasn't $17. Even the best burger spots in town don't charge this much for a burger! We were sure that the waitress would then listen to my guests concern and do something about it, but unfortunately she just said that's the menu price :) TLDR don't go here if you have dietary restrictions and if you like good service maybe go to Rousseau house down the street. Decent food and service. The best part for me was the basket they served my fries in. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't convince my wife to throw it in her purse though. Great food and excellent pub atmosphere are what set Brassie pub apart from the rest. A place where the Game is always on and the staff are friendly. If looking to dine, you'll notice that the menu has your typical pub fare with some less typical fare mixed in. Prices are competitive, but by no means overly expensive. The Nachos come in a basket large enough to keep a 1-year old baby; definitely a share-plate for a group of friends. I've been here a dozen times and the only thing I haven't liked were the curry dishes. The Pub tends to attract groups of friends, so it can be loud at times (especially on Friday and Saturday nights). Although loud, it doesn't at all take away from the pub experience. It's easy to overlook this place, nestled in a strip mall, but it's worth the time to visit. read more

This has been a go to pub for me since I was 16. hehe. For the most part, I really like the Brassie. Clean, bright, yet cozy interior. There are some wing backs near the fireplace for foul weather, and a decent patio for fair weather. First time visiting after being told it's the place to be in Ancaster. The atmosphere is a bit weird....it feels like the place wants to be sophisticated but seeing the bouncer bored out of his mind as soon as you walk in automatically gives the bar a weird vibe. The crowd is a mix of everything, seems like there's the regulars, and some younger people and some couples, but not one certain group. Ordered the brassie nachos and the serving was quite large (fed 4 people) and cost about $21. The nachos themselves weren't that good though, ingredients in general seemed pour quality from the chips, to the pieces of really dry steak and the weird tasting cheese dip. Overall, seems like the only reason people go to the Brassie is because there is nothing else around in Ancaster. read more

The food was decent, but the service not. We walked in to a please wait to be seated sign only to be told we can sit wherever we want when someone finally decided to seat us. I had to flag down a server because ours was nowhere to be found after she took our order. The restaurant wasn't that busy so I don't know why. read more

The menu is diverse and on point, my British mother swears by the liver and onions. The wings are some of the best in Hamilton, and the beer selection is solid. Been coming here with my girlfriend for Sunday night Karaoke once in a while for the last 2 years. Last visit we came in just after 9pm so we can order off the dinner menu as the apps menu is only available after 10pm. Was told we couldn't, only serving the "bar menu". This was at 9:20pm! We noticed a couple two tables over that got to order from the full menu. We were not impressed. Took 30min to get our drinks, then our server never came back to our table. We got another server to get our second round. Then thought we could of just walked out since we were treated like we were invisible! Again had to flag down another server to get our bill. To put it honestly, objectively and diplomatically, it sucked. The service was the slowest I've EVER witnessed, the bartender had the most miserable and stuck-up attitude I've ever seen. She even begrudgingly called a woman I had just met there and was non-seriously flirting my "girlfriend" because the bartender apparently had a grudge with her because the woman called her out for some incident that happened there. If you're going to go and enjoy drinks and grub in Ancaster, best to go to the Meadowlands where the cool places and truly excellent service are. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! read more

I have been to this pub quite often over the years and always swear I'll never go back....Went again this week because the Coach and Lantern was too busy and again it was disappointing. I was there with 5 other people and two of us sent our meals back, the service was slow, not the fault of the waitress I think it is understaffed. Will probably go again as it's within walking distance of my house and they get good bands once in awhile but that's the ONLY reason I would ever go there. read more
