This place is so fun!! Was driving through town with my fiancé and saw the big red barn. We had to stop and check it out! When we got in we noticed an arcade and a bar. I went to get the drinks, she went to the arcade to win some prizes! Then we got an hour of bowling. It was so much fun! Our first bowling experience together. The vids they have on the screen are so fun! You can also choose from different games not just regular bowling. It really makes the experience so much more fun, especially if you're the competitive type like she is. It's a fun atmosphere with a lot of neon colors lit by black lights. The Bowling Barn is not just a clever name. This large barn shaped structure in Big Bear does actually have a bowling alley. And as far as bowling alleys go, it's decent. This is a nice alternate activity for those of us who enjoy ski resort areas but lack the balance necessary to safely navigate the slopes. The Barn's lanes are modern, and can handle traditional bowling, as well as a number of "Hyperbowing" modes which add a modern spin to the game. They also have the usual bar and arcade, both well stocked with the classics. There was a snack bar, but we did not partake. Needless to say, this appeared to be standard bowing snack bar fare. This ski-challenged guy had fun bowling. My companions also had fun drinking. So the only miss here (gutter ball?) is the lack of reservations. Similarly situated alleys allow one to reserve a lane and avoid having to wait around. They would do well to look at a place like Bowl Incline as direction toward a better experience. read more

While we placed our names on the queue, we hit the bar for some drinks: a Henny & Coke and just a simple, cold Cutwater. I had been to the bowling barn before, but thoroughly enjoyed all the new upgrades since my last visit. There were a ton more games than in the past and it seemed like the bowling area was much more dynamic. The scoreboard did a thing where it capture pictures of your face and then make funny animations all during your game, which was absolutely hilarious & really fun! We didn't try any of the snack bar type food but just had a couple of beverages and enjoyed the bowling. The whole place seemed refreshed and new inside and we really enjoyed our time there. What a great time! I love this bowling alley! Fantastic visuals and light shows everywhere. Very many arcade games and even a virtual reality area. Before you start bowling you can snap a few pictures on their screen of yourself and they implement them in the funny graphics and you can watch while you're bowling. So much fun! Hi so we didn't actually get to bowl because they were really busy for a Saturday night, which is understandable, however the front desk was not friendly at all. We took the kids while we were visiting Big Bear Lake and it was their first time going as well! They LOVED it! To hear them all cheering each other on and have such a fun time! They have a helpful, nice staff and comfortable retro seating and decor. I appreciate that they have maintained the nostalgic 50s bowling alley theme. They have these really cool wall wraps that look like a log cabin complete with bears and a lake view, fitting the Big Bear theme. They have state-of-the-art arcade games, a lot of them, and an epic VR gaming room. You could spend the whole day there; have a great date night or celebration. We were out here for the weekend wanted to take our kids bowling thought it would be fun which turned out to be a disaster. The wait was 2 hours so we put our name on the list. It was crowded so we decided to kill time and go eat. After an hour We called to check our status and they said they had called us and we were no longer on the list and would have to be put back on the list and wait 2 hours. They did not tell us time could be less than 2 hours he specifically said you will be called in 2 hours. We asked to speak to the manager to see what we could do and she hung up on us. Fun, family-friendly activity. We tried the Hyper Bowling experience, which reminded me of TopGolf, but for bowling. It was really fun, I would definitely recommend it. After a certain time, I think 12pm/4pm depending on the day, they do Glow Bowling where they turn down the house lights, turn on the colored lights and play good music videos. But don't worry guys... there are still plenty of TV screens showing the various sports games. Price for 1 hour of bowling and 2 adult shoe rentals came out to about $56. They also have a decent food/snack stand inside and a full bar with pool tables in the back area. We had to wait about an hour for a lane, so we ordered some cocktails and just hung out in the bar and enjoyed the music. Will definitely be back during our next visit to Big Bear Lake. read more

We were celebrating my daughter's birthday and this is what she wanted to do for the first day that we were here. Bowling was fun they had some pretty cool arcade games they do have food and drinks... they were doing construction on the bar so it was closed. My friends and I had a weekend getaway in Big Bear and we decided to stop by here after lunch. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon and were told it would be an hour wait for a lane, but we decided to put our name on the list and kill time at the bar. The bar had some seltzers, beers, and rail drinks available for purchase and the bartender was very kind. We waited patiently for our group to be called and bowled for an hour. WE HAD A BLAST. This place is clearly the place to be on a Saturday evening and we had so much fun. We should have stayed TWO hours. We kept ordering drinks, snacks, and bowled to our hearts content. Aside from hiking, bar hopping, shopping, kayaking, sup boarding and many other things one can do during the summer in beautiful Big Bear Lake, California. When its too hot for outdoor activities you and you family can visit the Bowling Barn! Where they offer bowling, a sports bar, grill and arcade games. There were 3 of us, for the hour including shoes it was $55.50 out the door. I guess the prices are reasonable considering this is the only bowling alley in a 20 mile radius. I personally didn't visit the arcade but from the looks of it, very small but I'm sure its sufficient for the kiddos. The bar had pool tables and T.V's. The bowling itself was ok, we got in 3 games but the pin setter (or the mechanism that resets the pins) is sooo slow. I think that's why we couldn't get in more games. I also noticed how dirty the tables and seats were. Just be mindful to not touch your face and always wash and sanitize your hands. Up your game by bringing disinfectant wipes so you can clean tables and chairs (everywhere you go). Other than that, if I'm in the area which we frequent regularly I would probably come back if we need to beat the heat. Place is clean. we came early when they opened to avoid the crowd. staff seemed ok, from seeing the reviews we didnt experience any problems. for one hour it was 59$ bit pricey but we had a good time. they had alot of games to play on for the arcade area which was cool. More than likely zero would be the choice I make. the bowling barn has amazingly kept lanes, but unfortunately, their employees; specifically Dan wanted to be not so professional. I have played here numerous times as I am on a bowling league. I have been on a bowling league for 7 1/2 years my grandpa bowls at the same place. Dan was extremely rude. Extremely abrasive. I have never been told I cannot finish a game. I already paid for, but Dan made it very clear that I would have to pay extra to finish the game which I already paid for while smirking and whispering to his coworkers laughing. As a big Bear local this is very disappointing as I myself strive for connection in this community. If you don't like your job, quit :) simple as that! read more

I've been to a lot of bad bowling alleys/arcades in my life, but this one takes the cake. Horrendous vibes. Dirty. Loud. At least a quarter of the arcade games were out of order, another quarter in really bad shape. Two pool tables in the absolute worst space imaginable, there isn't enough space to reach half of the board. I'm glad we went early, around 7:30pm probably, because we got one game of pool in before the place became slammed and there was a line for the two tables. The bar was fine, limited drink options, but the lady was nice. She was completely swamped after 8:30 and was the only one working the bar...I hope she survived the night. The food at the kiosk looked awful, which is why I didn't try it, so I can't actually speak to the quality. We did not get a chance to bowl because not only were all the lanes booked, but the pricing was super unclear- it seemed to be $50 per hour, which is outrageous. Visiting Big Bear for a few days decided to come bowling, upon entering there's a random table where I feel like you should be greeted/checked in but no one was there so I wasn't quite sure where to go. After not being greeted we decided to walk in towards the snack bar area. This is where we were able to check in and pay for an hour of bowling and a shoe rental ($39hr and around $5 for a shoe rental) which seemed a bit expensive for a weekday afternoon. The customer service was lacking as the lady basically threw a piece of paper down and said fill this out and asked my shoe size. No greeting or welcoming vibe, as a customer who is spending money in an establishment, I expected a bit more friendliness from the staff. The lanes could use some refurbishing as there is quite a bit of wear and tear on them, but overall I had a good experience with the actual bowling.
