Our first time at the Bowery it started out so good I mean really good loved the band. We tipped well because our servers were prompt and we never went thirsty - we responded with good tips and even tipped the band. They asked for tips to continue singing and we rounded up $50 and got 1 song then suddenly lights came on and everyone was told to leave. I messaged my disappointment and well they didn't like that and they told me so. Very rude with the responses. Again band good , venue customer response bad. I felt like the response basically said screw you move on we don't need you. I can't write a review to make this landmark get the justice it deserves! I will start off by saying that I remember being in a stroller as a toddler and watching from outside with my family while Alabama played. That was pretty cool. I told the bartender that a few years ago and he said he remembered too bc he worked there then as well. Ha!! He gave me his fried Mac and cheese balls and they were outstanding. The food is cheap and so is the beer. We love to sit outside and "people watch." VERY interesting at times is all I can say. We go 2-3 times a week during our week long vacation. I'm not a huge fan of county music, but still found myself loving this place!! The Bounty Hunters are excellent musicians that I could watch for hours! Loved it!!!!! They only take cash and only have "Bowery beer" so be prepared. You can sit on the Duffy's side and see into the Bowery to order other things, but not the same thing in my opinion. The food was pretty good but it took a very long time to get to us. Also, the server left before we were even finished ordering and didn't come back to check on us until the food was ready. I literally downloaded the yelp app just to write this review. The worst experience I've ever had! Short version, go somewhere else or at least don't eat there! Extended version: First, the wooden seats out front were horrible. Tried two tables but the seats were not only broken to the point you could fall backwards and injure yourself but extremely uncomfortable as well. When we asked to move inside to a booth seat, which was still not comfy, the waitress gave my bf and I a odd look and seriously thought we were joking. After she finally realized we were not kidding, she looked like she was inconvenienced by this despite us being the only customers ordering food and not just drinking at the bar. As for the food, it was the worst I've ever had. I wish I could have taken a picture of my cheesestake sandwich but my phone was dead. Looked like someone already chewed the "steak" meat and spat it on the bun. Other than that, it was flavorless. Honestly, I've had a better philly at Arbys. My bf got a burger with chili, bacon, cheese etc. Canned chili, the cheese wasn't even melted which shows how cold the chili was on top. Large burger but couldn't be better than 70% lean. It was better than my food but still bland. We also got the fried mac and cheese...it was kraft mac that was fried. I've had better food at a fair. This place is a great time in a down home sort of way. It is the ultimate dive bar - they only serve draft beer and wine that tastes like battery acid. There are a bunch of small tables and tons of chairs. They open at like 9 most nights and there is always a band - usually pretty good. this is where the band Alabama started out. We went to the boardwalk and heard about The Bowery/Duffy's. It is a dive bar. Got in and seated right away took a few minutes to look at the menu. It took an hour to get a cheese burger and it was just ok. Our waitress said she talk to the manager about getting a discount for such a long wait nothing was done. This is the kind of place that Yelp was created for. If I had known what we were in for I could have saved a lot of time and frustration. The sign outside said "Hot Beer, Bad Food, Lousy Service" and we should have listened. Although we didn't get to try the beer or food. We were seated right away (a plus) by a friendly waitress (plus) but it went downhill from there. The place stunk of cigarette smoke. Ordering 5 beers and waters for 6 adults was like pulling teeth. I am not sure what was up with the waitress but she had a very hard time with the simplest of orders, although again, she was very friendly. She talked us out of the house beer, which we were thankful for. We kept getting signals that we should leave. The waitress warned us not to get the meat or seafood, and just about everything we did want they happened to be out of (house made pub chips, deep fried corn, basic appetizer stuff). Luckily the head of our party decided to end it after about 10 minutes of trying to establish our order and we went elsewhere. If you are to simply drink in a smokey dive bar this might be up your alley. I've always liked coming here mid-day for cheap food and beer. Music is great at night as well. That's why I give this place two stars. If it wasn't for that, I'd give it ZERO!!!! The band Alabama started as house band in the 70's. But the transformation would make them ashamed. So many rules it's retarded. You can't stand in front of the bar and order a beer. You can't stand up and rock to the band because the people in the back can't see. Really!?!? Isn't that why the band is on a stage!?!?!? Stupidest crap I've ever seen. The "bouncers" are bored and looking for people to throw out. You can't even dance or sing in front of the stage! You have to move over to the left of it and have a good time. Service at this place was probably the best service at lunch I have ever had. Angie and I stopped in here on Friday while walking around Myrtle Beach. We split the Nachos ( basic Nacho Cheese and a couple Jalapeño's ) and the Ultimate Burger, this is a staple!!!! The Burger was cooked perfect and the toppings are just right. I had almost forgot the main staple ( Alabama) was found here after I put this Burger in my mouth........ The server also told us about several Seafood Establishments that were a must while in town. Came here for an early dinner. We sat inside due to the good ole AC. Beware, people can smoke inside at the bar but set that aside. The food was amazing. Terrible! Cash only bar, which was not mentioned by the bouncer or person taking your cover charge. Person taking your cover charge had a lg thing of chew in his mouth, pretty disgusting. Not the way you want to greet your customers. Then we sat down and they only had white wine and 1 beer in tap. My husband, daughter and I were staying in Myrtle beach for a the week, at first we passed this place up because it looks like a dive bar and we have a 1 year old, the waitress Stephanie was sitting outside and allowed us to sit on a side of the restaurant that was not yet open because we were worried about the smoke from the bar, which we really appreciated.
