Dude in the last chair seemed like he didn't want to work this morning. Didn't say hello, tell me his name, or act like he gave a $#!+. Was talking with someone through his AirPods. I didn't really care as long as he cleaned up my attempt at a beard and my haircut. Hair looked good! But it was weird how he was holding the mirror real high. I get home and the line on my neck is WAY OFF! It looks like he was drunk or something. And for 10-15 minutes of poor work I get charged $39?! Highway robbery was committed. Barber supposedly used a straight razor to give me a bald fade, but there were patches of hair everywhere. Garbage haircut. Fade wasn't even and there was a very distinct line in the back. Booked an appointment for a razor fade. In and out in about 20 minutes. Once I got home and showered I was able to notice a ridiculous amount of stray long hairs all over. The point of paying $40+ for a razor fade is the attention to detail and this was very disappointing. Save your money and just go to a supercuts for the same quality. read more

This USED to be a great barber shop. Fitz was a character, and Rin was *great*. Then they both left. Fortunately, Tran joined the team, and he was also *great*. Then he left, too! I had the same haircutter in NYC for many, many years. When I first moved to Boulder, I bounced around at a few places and was never happy with the haircuts or the customer service. Then I found Fawn at The Boulder Barber. Now I'm back to being a happy, regular customer. Fawn has tremendous hair-cutting skills and a wonderful, warm and welcoming personality. There is a man at my office who always has spectacular hair. It's the kind of hair that conjures equal mix of jealously and admiration. I spent months admiring the fantastic fades, the tighter tapers and the immaculate edges of said man, then one day I worked up enough courage to ask this man where he got his hair cut. The very handsome and beautifully haired man responded "The Boulder Barber. You should check it out." And check it out I did. Here is a minute by minute recap of my amazing Boulder Barber experience. Minute 0: I just drove by the boulder barber on Folsom, that's where the handsome man at my office we will call Charles Walker gets his hair cut. My hair is looking a bit unruly maybe I should get it cut. Minute 2: Alright walking into the barber. Hopefully there is not a long wait. Minute 2.1: A friendly man just told me to take a seat. Will this chair and the barber behind me named Fitz change my life? I sure hope so. Minute 4: Barber asked me what I wanted to do today. I just told the barber I want my hair cut short, that is poor direction by me. Hopefully he can make some magic happen. Minute 5: Alright the electric razor, the ultimate tool of the barber has been pulled out and is buzzing. Fitz wields this device like he's been working with it for centuries. Minute 6: This man is a razor master he is working while speed and precious like I've never experienced. If we were in Westeros and this man traded his razor for a sword I am certain he would best Jamie Lannister in combat (pre one hand). Minute 10: Conversation is flowing but honestly I'm distracted by how good my reflection looks. If i were legally allowed to marry my reflection I would right now. The transformation that has happened in under 6 minutes is unreal. Minute 14: Fitz has better attention to detail than Sherlock Holmes. No hair is left uncut and no edge is left perfectly edged. My hair has never been this fabulous in my life. Minute 18: The neck shave is on point. My neck is now free of that unruly hair that makes a man look ugly, weak and unkempt. Minute 20: Fitz just offered to style my hair and my goodness this style is what the top of my head has been craving for 31 years. I can't wait to return home to my wife and show her just how good I look. Minute 125: I am now home with my wife and she has just reaffirmed all of our wedding vows upon seeing my gorgeous haircut. My life has significantly improved thanks to Fitz and his magic razor and scissors. Minute 2089: Just walked into the office and the man named Charles, with amazing hair, just asked me where I got my hair cut. I smiled and then just kept walking. read more

I've never taken the time to write a review for a business but the haircut I got was so bad I needed to give folks a heads up. I will preface this by saying my hair is not easy to cut, it's very thin and I have a cowlick in the back of my head. Showed the woman cutting my hair a picture of a previous length cut I had and she just went to town lopping off hair. Not once did she even check with me to ask if what she was doing was a good length and she had me turned looking out at the street so I had no clue exactly how much was getting cut. This place is a breath of fresh air. My fiancé needed a haircut for our engagement shoot and he usually just cuts his hair at home, so we did a quick google search and found the Boulder Barber. He called and made an appointment for later that afternoon. It was such a welcoming atmosphere and I felt super comfortable waiting on the comfy couch. There were games available and the owner offered me a sparkling water. Speaking of the owner, Terry is an awesome guy who was easy to talk to and really gave the whole experience a small town vibe, which I dig. Meanwhile, my partner was deep in convo with his barber, Adam. The haircut turned out AMAZING and we were extremely impressed. I don't think I will allow him to cut his own hair anymore. That's how good it looked. And more importantly, Adam taught him how to style it so he could look just as good at our engagement shoot. Even though the shop is cool and the employees seem nice, I left with a sub-par haircut that wasn't even close to what I had asked for. Simple directions and requests don't seem to work, so I would recommend bringing a photo of the haircut you would like. Out of stars to rate, The talent is a 5. However the level of professionalism and social educate is a zero. I just moved up here from FL and was in search of s new Barbor to execute my undercut perfectly. I read the reviews of this place and they seemed to be great so I decided to give it a chance. I was referred to Adam as he was experienced in undercut designs. I booked my appointment w/ him a few days in advance, upon arriving 10mins early Adam was not there. 15 mins goes by, still no Adam, after 20min past my original time had gone by the woman working there informed me that he would not be coming. So my first visit was not the greatest first impression being stood up... she was very apologetic and I kept a saying "it's ok, no worries. We're all human and we make mistakes" I was very kind and understanding about the whole inconvenient situation even though it put a wrench in my day. As annoyed and turned off as I was I decided to give them a 2nd chance and go back in. They all seemed very nice and apologetic about the whole thing, and the owner only charged me half price, which was $7 being that I was told the full price for what I got done was $15... I was happy. I went back about 3 weeks later for my touch up, and ended up waiting close to 15minutes past my apt time as he was running late with the man in his chair. I never said anything about it, and was then charged the $15 regular price I was originally told. I then booked my 3rd appointment. I originally booked it for 1:00 on a Wednesday. I then realized I had to change it so I called several times on Monday to change it but no one answered. So I then called early morning Tuesday to change the apt for tues afternoon. Amongst a lot of craziness going on in my personal life I thought I changed it for 2:00 but it was for 1:00. I showed up at 1:30 thinking I would be 30min early but once I walked in I was met with hostile rudeness telling me it was for 1, not 2. I sincerely apologized and explained how I thought the apt was for 2:00, then proceeded to see if I could come back at a later time that day. I came back at 4:30 only to be met by Adam with the same hostile rudeness. I had apologized again once I walked in but he wasn't interested in my apology. He proceeded to tell me that if I was late a 3rd time with no call I would be banned from ever coming back and giving them my business. Along with the extreme unprofessionalism of telling me how I had cost him money by not showing for my (mind you 15min MAX) appointment. And as I explained to him that I was sorry, I have NEVER in my life been late to an appointment as I worked in the service industry for over 10yrs so I know what it's like for clients to show late or not at all and explained how it was an accident as I was under the impression it was at 2 not 1. (I did show up a half hour early as well, thinking it was for 2) he only continued to talk over me and not hear me. He then brought it up about me being late and inconveniencing him and his whole day (mind you again, it has never taken him more than 15min start to finish with me). He insisted on completely beating me up about it. He also did not do as well of a job on me like he normally did with cleaning my neck with the hot towel and rubbing the foam on it to insure no ingrown hairs etc. He just took the cape off and asked me if I wanted a hot towel. When I said yes he just handed it to me with a "here do it yourself" attitude. So after wiping myself off I went up to pay and then he was charging me $10 more. When I asked what happened as the last two times the price was $15 he said how he had made a mistake and the price was intact $25. That was unacceptable to me being that he never informed me of it and just tried charging me more. He obviously has no experience in decent customer service because you have to warn your client if you change your prices BEFORE performing the service to allow them the chance to continue with the service or not. He then repeated AGAIN a 3rd time, about me being late! It was an honest mistake on my end but Adam decided to use it as a weapon and beat me down with it, bringing it up 3 times and shoving it in my face. read more
