The Bookworm book store front at 6881 B W 12th Street, Little Rock, AR

Great bookstore located next to Grady's Pizza & Subs on West 12th Street in Little Rock. Its convenient to the Clarion and St Vincent Guest House on nearby University Avenue and just minutes from many new west Little Rock hotels. Take the Rodney Parham exit on I-630 and turn south (left) towards 12th Street. The bookstore will be an easy right turn. The first time I walked in I was amazed. Not only does the owner have a large selection of paperbacks, but he also stocks a large number of non-fiction hardbacks as well. This is one of the few book stores that carries good used Civil War books, which you'll find in the small room on your immediate right as you enter. One of the surprises this bookstore offers is collectible books. Just behind the counter we spied some vintage Doc Savage and Avenger paperbacks, hard to find these days without resorting to tedious Internet searches. My wife is fond of the generous selection of science fiction paperbacks and has found many of the "missing books" from her favorite authors. She usually brings out a small bag of treasure each trip inside. Good thing the owner also trades books!

Excellent independently owned used bookstore. Clean, well organized, friendly, and nicely priced. They buy, sell, and trade as well.

Wow! This place is reorganized and has a nice gentleman staff member now too…read more There's a whole room on your left as you come in devoted to classics and award-winning books. There are even chairs here and there to relax on. The lower level nonfiction wasn't very impressive but I'll be back to check out the classics. (It was too crowded to go in on this Saturday.) They should really put a sign outside saying they've reorganized and cleaned up and have three levels of books. Otherwise people who stopped by when it was old and crappy won't even know.

I had a pretty tight timeline for getting on the road, but as I was on my way from the hotel to the…read morecar to leave town, I spotted this bookstore...and happily blew my itinerary by spending almost an hour here. It is a GREAT used bookstore and would be so in any city. + Handsome--hardwood floors and copious natural light + Four floors of stock + Tidy and well organized + Exceptional variety of subjects and genres + All books in good condition or better (most better) + Staggeringly low prices (to a Chicagoan) + LPs and DVDs Plus, they are operated by the Central Arkansas Library System, so I hope and assume that proceeds from the store benefit the libraries, which is always awesome. On top of all that, I finally found a book here for which I had been searching through dozens of bookstores in several cities for over a year. And although I would have happily taken a shabby paperback, what I found was a boxed, cloth-bound Library of America edition, including several of the author's other works--FOR ONLY SIX DOLLARS! That kind of bookstore good fortune is extraordinary.
